Vandals will be vandals, and as long as this is the "free encyclopedia" that will always be the case. If you wanted to rid the site of vandals, you could ban IP editing and require heavy checks before being admitted as a user, but that goes against the wiki's philosophy. If readers knew more about how the wiki works, they could even revert vandalism on their own, if they see something stupid in the article, just check the history and fix. Then admin's jobs are easier.

Vandalism can be funny to read at times, but it's disruptive, and it can get those responsible in a lot of trouble. It's all fun and games until somebody has your internet taken out. I find it amuzing to create chaos for cheerleaders (I have nothing against cheerleaders, I just think it's funny), Charlotte Tarpons (rival school), LBHS Manta Rays (rival school), and liberals/democrats who are vandals. I can imagine the look on their faces when they lose their internet service. :P

People who vandalize Wikipedia have no life and are begging some random person to get their IP and report it. Most ISPs don't find the abuse funny and will turn your service off if they find out about it(ask LBHS Cheerleader who vandalized from Embarq DSL from 2006-2008). There is a rumor that Wikipedia doesn't report to ISPs unless they're blocked five times, but that's not true; anybody can go into the history tab of any article and report every IP vandal they see.
