Burt Reynolds was not only the BEST thing about "Boogie Nights" he was in my opinion the ONLY thing of value about it. As poor(And WILDLY overrated)a film as "Boogie Nights" was, Reynolds had in it something that I'd never seen from him before in a film(And as a big fan of his I've seen MOST of Burt's films) and that's the kind of effortless charm and grace that Sean Connery brings to a movie automatically. Burt was once offered Bond but turned it down so he wouldnt be the 2nd best Sean Connery.

Burt Reynolds hated working on this film. He turned down a role in Magnolia, because he didn't like Paul Thomas Anderson. He even fired his agent, after filming finished. It wasn't until the film started getting good critical attention, decent box office and probably most importantly, earned himself a best actor Oscar nomination, that he changed his tune.

It was fairly well documented at the time. Most of the cast have said he was a prick on set.
