  • That crazy hillbilly, he's exactly like his grandfather, a great country singer.

  • Ladies & Gentlemen, THAT is what we call Country Music!

  • That old fiddle player sure can get it. Bet he's a hit with the ladies

  • CJ Udeen on Steel Vernon Derrick on Fiddle Jason Brown on Upright Bass Harold Kennedy on Guitar Mike Tucker Drums

  • In the 1970’s and 1980’s,, we would go to a place in Raleigh NC. called “Long branch” where we did the “2 Step” (dance), and this song was one of Greatest Songs to dance to. And Waylon Jennings came there one night,, and he did a great job doing this song,, along with All the songs he did.. Waymore fun,, at that time..

  • @hbiblekjv This is still open i cant believe Waylon played live their! Thats amazing he really was one of the good ole country boys

  • He looks and sing like his grandfather

  • Waylon would be proud

  • wow he sure has changed a lot since these days, keep on rockin man. Hellbilly 4 life.

  • Is that Travis toy playing steel?

  • hot dogs

  • Dam he's good...It's like watching his Grandfather. He looks just like him!

  • I LOVE THIS MANS SINGING HE IS GREAT

  • This guy kicks ass! looks a lot like his grand daddy.

  • Thank ya III for bring in it back to where it sounds like country again, instead of the crap they call "todays country music".

  • Haha, I've seen this video a dozen times and never noticed before that III breaks a string during the double-time fiddle solo. You can even hear a pop in the sound at about 3:37 or so when it happens, and you can see III blowing on his hands or something as if they got whipped by the string break. It's even hanging down from the head of the guitar at the end of the song.

  • @JimCashFan good observation i see that looks like maybe the A or D string

  • @JimCashFan watched it numerous times before and not noticed it

  • cool version of this song

  • move youtr feet!:)

  • only hank iii can cover the classics and get away with it

  • i love how he just stands there until they kick it up a notch then he rlly gets into it

  • I've heard of H3 a few years ago but the few songs I checked out didn't do much for me. Now later I find this older song and am totally blown away by his talent. I have revisted some of his punk country and opened up a little to; but I have to tell you that this song and another from the same venue I found today put this young man on the same pedestal with his dad and grandad in my book. A shame H3 is not of fire for this style of music; because he would recapute what country music should be.

  • this was so early in his career WAY before he started getting big

  • now you KNOW you're smokin' when you break a guitar string playing a country western song!

  • the fiddle player is the man!!!!!!! i gotta learn those moves

  • @TheFlyBilly

I'm proud to say that Vernon Derrick, the fiddle player was from my hometown and was one of my closest friends for over 40 years.

    RIP Vern 1-4-08

  • OMG, he looks and sounds like his grandfather. It's uncanny. And man, is he country!!!! Taylor Swift and the rest...ARE NOT COUNTRY singers.

  • Dude! You own this song!!

  • he can sing like wille too!

  • good god! he looks almost exacly like his granddaddy!

  • YEEEEE HAWWWW Now that is REAL music

  • he really looks like his grandfather!!!

  • i think waylon would be so proud. Class!!!!!!!

  • ok , he is AWESOME! and he looks so much like his grandfather! sounds like him too! can he ever play guitar ! go hank III ! (:

  • If I didn't know any better, I would swear this is an In Color version of Hank Sr.

  • waylon was able to get hank III to do something that his dad couldn't i grew up listenin to sr and jr when III came out the circle was complete

  • he would be biggest selling artist if he would be litlle bit more mainstream thank god he aint be humble and sell his soul

  • He looks eerily like his grandpa, who is the first singer I ever heard. Man, that's freaky and cool at the same time.

  • *Claps*

    Excellent cover!

  • where was this recorded?

  • There isnt a Williams that I've seen perform that isnt great!!!! I love him and his sister and neither one of them can get a bit of air time!!! Someone tell me what happened to country stations??? Do they not see and hear tallent when its right in front of them?

  • @finis83 They don't get Air Time because they are not "POP" Country and Hank will not conform to todays Music to get air time.. I have heard him on several XM and Sirius Radio stations thou....

  • Love ya!!! Keep doing what you're doin

  • A little fast but still a great version.

  • Notice he loses the lyrics for a sec at 2:14, but ol' Hank III recovers and rocks the rest of the song.

  • legends arnt make there born and your one keep it up hope your around for my grand kids remember we love you and take care so have fun and dont sweat the small stuff it all small

  • pure country!! dont hear much anymore. new stuff sux compared to this

  • give em hell shelton

  • Thank you for being you Hank 3~ me &rich

  • Hank III rules 95 mph country!

  • The look he gives the douche-bag fiddle player after his deluxe solo is priceless.

  • One of my personal favorites! Hank-3 Don't ever stop!

  • was this on a tv show?

  • flawless :)

  • Dang Hank! You clean up alright there cousin

  • my god its like looking at a ghost

  • hank III rules

  • Awesome performance by Hank III. His vocal quality is awesome. You can see in his eyes that he's not in his element. More power to Shelton for going his own way!!

  • he looks so much like Luke the Drifter

  • I think hank Willams the Third is one of the best voices that don't give in to the new "pop" country ways.

I love his attitude and just have to say

    I myself am a :

    HELLBILLY FOR LIFE!

  • @lindacraft1981 Agreed.... Shelton Hank 3 Has more talent in one of his big toes then these here new "pop" country singers have in their whole body.. I think his talent scares Nashville ..... The Best Personality and Attitude Ever.... HellBilly/ HellBetty 4 Life 4 Sure.... Much Respect!!

  • III could have had a very lucrative career as a pop radio king, and he almost did. I am under the impression that he got a taste for the Nashville establishment early in his career and did not like what he saw.

  • "You cant tame whats meant to be wild, It just aint natural"

  • What year was this? Anybody know?

  • 1996 or 1997. He wore that black hat when he first started out. The fiddle player, Vernon Derrick has since passed.

  • hey hold on, isn´t this what he is opposed to? anyway, it´s pretty cool.

  • yeah you won't see him doing something like this nowadays.

  • No;

He's all about country's roots-- his current direction has alot to do with the way his original intent was cast aside by the industry

  • no he said he does both hes opossed tp pop country like keith urban this i twang

  • he reminds me a lot of his grandfather

  • @reverendjim63 to a t hes so much like his gran pappy it aint funny i love this guy he's no sell out that's for shure

  • He looks and sounds just like his grandfather. Wow. I didn't remember that.

  • Wow Hank 3 was extremely young right here.

  • Hah, he sure looks like his grandpa.

  • Wow he looks cool!!

  • Maybe it's just me but it's hard to find any live action videos of Hank III. Thanks.

  • Yes, it's just you.
