i got to see billy joe and eddy the oct before eddy was gone, a small bar on the ala, fla line. i had a bad dope problem and i guess eddy the same. it was so sad the day i read that eddy was gone, i got in rehab. i hope eddy is at peace, he was one hell of a player. may god rest your soul eddy shaver. rocco
There is no one like Eddy in this world.. Have seen many guitar players try... and miserably fail! Was able to see him play once... WILL NEVER forget it!
You know while Hollywood is in the Country Music stage, wouldnt a movie about Billy Joe be something. I would love to see it. I wonder if anyone has purchased the movie rights to his book?? Would love to see that movie.
@gwhite1969 Man I wish I could have seen him too. As an " I'm gonna be a player someday" there is absolutely no one's playing I admire more than his! What a loss.... My prayers go out to Billy.
Eddy was my first and greatest influence to become a lead guitar player!! He was the coolest of the cool!! When people ask who I try to play like, I just smile and think of seeing Eddy on Austin City Limits when I was just starting to play!!
Any guy who writes, sings and plays like that - and dresses like a lineman is ok in my book. I'd like to see him put Keith Urban in a headlock (just for fun)
i was privileged enough in my life to be able to spend time with billy and his family. and i wish i was able to thank them for all there kindness. but i have lost all ties to there family through death. i never even knew how lucky i was!!!
@BJShaverman....I love the little tidbit of info...I did not know he was going to be a part of a great lineup like the "Outlaws"....wow good lookin out!
The story goes that Billy was to be on the "OUTLAWS" album with Waylon, Jessie & Willie, but his wife Brenda laid the law down. She thought he'd got a wild enough reputation already without being labelled an outlaw. Happy new year to all readers.
It's cool to see Eddy here and see the progression to the Unshaven record...MONSTER tone... his hybrid lead/rhythm playing is unmatched. If Nashville was in Texas, it would sound like Eddy. The most seamless musical blend of country, blues, and rock playing I've ever heard. Awesome.
No comparison. Jerry had the fame, Eddie had the chops. Get Shaver Live at Smith's Old Bar, and you'll here stuff that Garcia couldn't even dream about playing.
Lets not get carried away...Billy is great, no doubt but no Jerry Garcia. Jerry got old & tired but in the 70's those 30 minute solos are unmatchable. Eyes Of The World, Shakedown Street, Dark Star = real magic.
when I seen this guy play...all I remember it was billy joe shaver on austin city lights and the guitarist was hitting notes that rivaled anyone..20 plus years ago
What a great sound he had. Straight playing ,and no phony tricks with pedals. ' Ya might want to see my "Shaver" portrait guitar on my site...... Jimmybusk dot com . 'Miss ya Eddy.,Never get tired of that live record from Smiths bar !
In 2006, a woman working in Taco Bell was fingering her coochie in the office. However, an employee walked in on her and saw her doing it. Her, being shocked, never dared to experience an orgasm again. Now that you've read this, if you don't re-post this to 3 other videos, she'll cast a curse on you and never allow you to experience a true, full orgasm ever again. Also, you may never get laid, ever/ever again!
Been a long time BJS fan, but never saw him in person 'til July 4th '05 at Willie's Picnic at Ft. Worth. I came especially to see him and I was not disappointed. Maybe it's just me, but you ain't seen sh*t until you see him live! I can just imagine seeing him and Eddie both... too bad. Even amongst the "Outlaw Country" fans, this guy is grossly underappreciated.
I agree 100%. I have seen him live, and he autographed my "Tramp on Your Street" CD. I think that is his BEST album. I remember I was standing in line to go into the concert, and someone said he was eating with his band down the road in a small cafe. I went in there, introduced myself, and told him that I was big fan. I will cherish that autograph.
Billy Joe Shaver is one of the BEST COUNTRY SINGERS. I love the way he sings a song. He is a GREAT SONGWRITER too. Its great to see him with his son Eddie in this clip. I love how Billy Joe is country to the bone, and his son rocked that guitar.
Thank you Rspaceball!!! Eddy Shaver is one of my favorite guitarists and finding live footage of him and his dad is pretty rare. If you have more like this keep 'em coming!!!! Thanks a bunch!
