I tuned into FX the other week as it was showing repeats, I hoped this would draw in new viewers.

After the episode it said 'Arrested Development will be showing from 9.00 instead of midnight as of next week.'

It was the same in the UK. It used to be shown at about 11.45pm on a Sunday. I really don't understand why it wasn't a mega hit like The Office etc. In my opinion it is right up there with the best Sitcoms ever!

the reason it got cancelled is because alot of the people who watch tv dont care to see well developed, original, quirky, complex intricated story telling and characters. had no chance in basic cable. it has a replay value that is unprecedented on tv shows. look away and youll miss an awesome gag. you have to watch it again to catch everything. those are the only reasons why two and a half men are the highest rated comedy on tv running for 8 years and more. cross is spot on

i think the problem with AD's demise has to be with both marketing and how a lot of their gags and jokes were running jokes so you had to see previous episodes to understand them or get a kick out of them. Also, i remember when it aired I changed the channel because I had absolutely no idea what the hell was going on and who the f the family was. Marketing was surely a downfall but I loved this show sooo much I wish I gave them some support when it was airing. I just watched it thru yrs after.

The original office is insanely funny, most seasons of Seinfeld are excellent, and maybe there is another series or two that don't come to mind -- Always Sunny in Philly is sick funny. Playing to the lowest common denominator makes $ - look at the american music industry. Cross was wrong - marketing wouldn't have helped very much.
