Funny how liberal things were back then compared to now. This song and many others bring back so many memories of a time and era that I can't even put into words, I'm just glade I'm still here and doing great - but I miss those who aren't here. You just had to be there to really understand what this music embodies the 70's was fun. I have no problem with saying that and I love disco.
To the person that asked.."What happened to music? Here's what happened. Back in the 80s...the laws of profanity and freedom of speech were challenged by a group called Two Live Crew...rappers...back then their music was labeled (by others...so don't lash out at me) "Audial Obscenity". They were allowed to sell more...and more of that stuff...others wanted in on the financial action...more like them sprung all over...and "real music" took a back seat to the profit-hungry labels. Sad...really.
Those swirling violins, that horn section blowing over your head, that bass in your chest, and emotion of the lyrics just carried you away. Long live Disco. The best years of my life.
Goosebumps....this song still gives me goosebumps! DISCO AT IT'S FINEST! I remember playing this when it first came out, and packed my dance floor every single time. I've been a Disco/Club DJ since 1973, and am STILL playing music. Nothing today will ever compare to this era of dance music. DISCO STILL LIVES IN MY HEART!
People that put down Disco were never fortunate enough to hear music like this, it never made it to radio play, only the hottest clubs played this stuff.
People that say "Disco sucks" were never fortunate enough to hear music like this, it never made it to radio play, only the hottest clubs played this stuff.
To ALL my disco friends out there! This has got to be one of the BEST disco/dance songs out there by the incomparable Madleen Kane! I would hear this song in the clubs back then and whether I had a partner to dance with or not, this song would get me out on the floor to dance my ass off! Ahhhhhhhh...the good old days! Let the songs and memory of the disco classics live on!
One of the things I like so much about this tune is the piano in the opening. So many of our classical disco artists were not afraid to mix their personal talent with traditional instruments.
@jacknjill3000 Hey! I agree with you! Who in the HELL said disco sucks obviously couldn't dance and enjoy the beat! LOVE LOVE LOVE this song......and this song will live on to all our mutual disco fans!
music will never age and this timeless lovely song is a symbol of the late 70's..we were having fun, dancing, playing football, staying with friends, no drugs, no alcool, no dangerous driving....JUST FUN FOR THE SAKE OF IT...oliver doria
Still a beautiful song after all these years, perhaps the greatest disco song, Memories of that generation/era people would always dance to this song, and is where we met our love ones.
Recalling Friday nights playing this and You Can, Soveniers by Voyage, Romeo and Juliet by Alec Costinados, and Lime songs as well at home while getting ready to party. . . what a time !! The crowded clubs in Fort Lauderdale or Miami were sweaty but who cared. Nothing better than disco era of late 70's through mid 80's. I feel sorry the kids today don't have it like we did. So be it. ----- Long live Disco !! -----
THIS is dance music! Straight up disco~ All the dance music producers of today would need to do is touch up the effects, use a modern beat, and you've got FIRE!
In my 50s now...but everyday i know how lucky i was to grow up in this era of music....long live disco..... all the energy.... all the love... nothing has ever come close to this great time...moment in music history... Wherever you are Madleen...thank you with all my heart
@davidoak4Erdie AMEN David, I am 54 and feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to have this music be part of my memories. This song is as good today as it was back in 1978 when I was a kid.
Fire? Where? Oh, in my heart! The production of this song would still call me to the dance floor--so many years later. I look for other "dino-comments" where is everybody? Anyway, I agree with you...well, its Madleen Kane. Thanks a million Carlos, for giving this to us. I lost it in the move!
That was a great write-up on one of my favorite singers in my dance collection- beautifully written- very impressive. Thank you for taking the time to post this classic song and artist on youtube.
Hello! I love Madleen Kane and this is so true , we don't hear her voice on that song only a chorus.................When I first heard this song I did not know it was her!!!!
It was a great song at that time, brings back memories from that era. She was gorgeous and had a beautiful voice. Perhaps her best song that brought many to the dance floor. Wonder where and what she is doing today. Thanks for posting this.
When I did discos in the 70's this was one of my theme songs. I haven't played or heard it in over 30 years but the melody keeps going round and round in my head ever since. There is something enchanting about it. I happened to find the 12" disco version in my record collection and ripped it into my current collection.
I can't begin to tell you how much you made my day by posting this song!! I have always loved it.....so many wonderful memories of being free, young and happy! Thank you SOOOOOO much!!!! Peace, love, dance on!
OMG What a song!! This is one of the very best dance disco songs ever! Imagine hearing this in a huge clug with an awesome sound system! Sends chills. Love it!
THANK YOU FOR THIS ONE!! This song is one of the best dance songs I have ever heard and boy oh boy does this bring back memories of the good old days. Give me chills still whenever I hear it. To everyone who ever had a forbidden love, God Bless, Be Strong and most of all Dance and LOVE!
Thank you for uploading this song again. What incredible memories.........I'm dancing in my chair........to all my friends back then, may the many who didn't make it RIP, thank you for being part of my life. Love, Joannah
What an incredibly stunning woman - I remember her! I even had her album and I danced to her music in Studio 54. We are the same age (1958) and I used to model as well. Thanks for bringing back those sweet memories.
damn, the memories!! I have the original vynil to this and many others. I remember buying this record. I will never part with my vynil. I,m in my 40,s and remember the clubs in the 80,s big time!!
OMG! This is Madleen's song?! I remember hearing this on the radio as a kid. I never thought I'd hear it again. I loved disco. wish I was older so I could have been out at the clubs dancing to this music. I was just a kid but this Madleen was fierce and could easily run with the other divas of her heyday like Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor! This song was always so haunting to me. Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh...Forbiddin Love!
Also, it was a wonderful era, when music was prettier and listenable! When this song came out I was very young too, but I had a chance to go through the 80's enjoying that great music, always expecting what would come out next! OMG!!!!
orchestral, production, and melodic masterpiece representing the intellectual and cultural apex of this civilization: the 1970s; note the grand Munich Symphony Orchestra, with Hans Herschenhan, concertmaster, conducted by Thor Baldursson
Gosh i said the same thing. I love "You and I" i actually have it on my MP3 player. My mom has the 45. I think it's awesome... Someone should post it...
OMG, thank u so much 4 posting this jam... even tho' I was very young when this song came out but always loved it... my older cousins & friends use 2 teach me how 2 hustle. Love this jam!!!!
Yes, it brings me back to my youth but still keeps me dancing today ! This music was only made for fun despite serious sound production. It's typical of an era. One again, thanks for posting !
Ok, I'm showing my age, the first time I heard this song, back in 79, while in high school, I remember I was in class, the song played, I looked out the window, & to my amazment a couple of kids were dancing the hustle to this....Wonderful memories, Thank you
you are welcome! This was my first Madleen's album and after that I completely fell in love with her..............and also people that went through that era know what good music was.........go to my page and you will see more Madleen's stuff............
At the age of 20, Madleen mostly mistaken as French but originally Swedish when modeling for Ford, was discovered by J.C. Freidrich owner of Boona Music productions and she became a hot singing commodity with ROUGH DIAMOND in 1978 which took off like fire not only in U.S. but across the globe......
After she released CHERI in 1979, her singer career became firm. Nevertheless GIORGIO MORODER appeared with his mixes in 1981 with "Don't wanna Lose You" and helped her album sales in Clubs but no longer in radios. Sadly, Madleen tired of the recordings faded away after the last album 1985 "Cover Girl"...
Other big hits: PLAYING FOR TIME, YOU CAN, I'M NO ANGEL, FIRE IN MY HEART (mais) (menos)
I think besides being gorgeous, Madleen was talented!!!!

Loved her music. Madleen was stunningly beautiful then too. I believe she was a Ford Model before she sang.

hello!!! Look at this:
At the age of 20, Madleen mostly mistaken as French but originally Swedish when modeling for Ford, was discovered by J.C. Freidrich owner of Boona Music productions and she became a hot singing commodity with ROUGH DIAMOND in 1978 which took off like fire not only in U.S. but across the globe......

cont............
I think besides being gorgeous, Madleen was talented!!!!
take care
