  • Great tutorial! I for one am glad that you spoke quickly - as you say, people can watch it again if they missed something, and it annoys me when people who purport to have expertise um and ahh on their videos. YouTube has an all-too-high proportion of 'noise', IMO.

One question; please could you explain the 'Override Action "Save As" Commands' tick-box, including when to tick it and when or why you wouldn't include a "Save As" command in your actions?

    Thank you in advance! ;-)

  • Sigh. Have watched this vid and others several times, but my comp keeps telling me that the droplet cannot communicate with photoshop. What gives???

  • I can't do it with 500 pictures...

  • i hope you will continue of helping others on Ps...

  • Learned something very invaluable today! thanks a million!!!

  • everytime you say CS i'm expecting to hear 5 lol, Idk why !

  • it dosent work on fotoshop cs5 !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very helpful. Thank you!

  • wtf.. HELP!!! the actual droplet isn't anywhere to be found, I've done this in the past and had it go right to the desktop where it belongs but its not there. I've tried multiple times..

    any suggestions?

  • good teacher..

  • thank you

  • DROPLET COULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH PHTOSHOP!!! HELP!!

  • @leafblowinSK8 you have to run photoshop as an administrator and then do droplets

  • very nice of you for giving us your time and teach us useful things :) God bless you :) Thank you!

  • good job howard.

  • thanks!

  • Are droplets similar to macros?

  • To the point. Just - excellent! Thanks.

  • Hi

First of all thanks for teaching us (especially me) how to automate something to get through things much easier and faster but I experience a problem.

Although I didn't chose to save and close the picture after the action is taken apparently it does just that but does not save. I can see the background layer then the new layer I recorded in the action is created, a 3D thing is made I can see it in a new layer for 1 second then everything closes and I have nothing saved or to work on.

    Help? =D

  • @DarkestShadow2008 just deselect the "override action save as commands" when ur making the droplet.

  • @pj1986 Thanks dude, now everything works just fine =D

  • I'm using window vista...:-( so i created the action and droplets....but once I click on the pictures and drop on the droplet button, gave me error message and closed down ps4??? any suggestion what I should do to get this problem solve? thanks so much!

  • I'm amazed that no one is commenting on the difficulty of assigning a new file name and destination to each image. It is not at all an intuitive process, and I'm having a dickens of a time getting past the error message I get when I try to save to a new folder. The whole naming and assigning destination business is confusing, and it is glossed over in the video... :-/

  • Why os it so blurry??

compared to your other vids this one's graphics SUck(im sorry for the term)..

    I love your videos

    first. because of HD quality

    second great explanation

    and

Third because it shows every step you do.

  • Hi i drop my photos to the droplet but nothing happens... :S

  • Another excellent video, another new way to use Photoshop. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • tks, Howard. So the droplet is a batch file waiting to happen. oigi. (oh! I get it...). that takes me from kiloton to megaton. so the gigaton might be a droplet droplet that lets us drag and drop. as in drop let squared.

all that to say this: right thing at the right time, gotten to by related poppup after seeing newscientist "intelligent droplet".

I indeed really grateful. tks for ur good work. Colans and close-paranthesees, paulhallart.

  • Hey Howard! Im so suck at Photoshop but your vids are just great, now i can edit my photos just fine...Thank you a lot!! :)

Oh by the way, I love your voice too! lolol

  • this kind of Droplet overwrites a sequence of files if it's used two times.

I need a simple Droplet that does this:

day one: I give to it a bunch of files with random names and dimensions,it changes the name to "whatever" scale the dimensions to 800*800 and add 01,02,and so on.

day two: I give to it some more random files and it add to the initial sequence with the proper sequence 04,05 and so on WITHOUT TO OVERWRITE 01,02.

I'm too stupid to figure out how to do it.

  • when i try to create a droplet it adds an extension .text to it and it creates a text edit document. do you know how i can fix this. i cant just delete the .text when creating the droplet. its driving me crazy

  • u r gr8 nice tutorial

  • Thank you so much, this will save SOO much time!

  • Xzactly what I needed it.

    Thanks!!!!!

  • lol...... spoked too fast no u were ok, what i was thinking that the droplet's action was to save PSD files in one place, not like in a folder, that would be cooler than saving unfinished projects in usual folder

  • the same you can do in Mac OSX with folder actions =S

But nice one you can go more advanced here ; )

  • well, No they wont block you, Sometimes itll say next time u open it, invalid serial number , then just put in this one, then visa versa :D , its gr8 :D me and all my friends have it now :D. this is another serial by the way 1330-1802-1117-5362-3659-4617

    thx

  • wow. thanks alot!! gonna try that

  • I got an Error saying Droplet couldn't communicate with photoshop

  • it works for all kinds, mac is most popular for the illegal downloads, but i have found a download for the vista

  • does this only work on macs?

  • so its like a history of what you've done with that exact file so its very usefull instead of undoing. Thanx dude!

  • i want a mac!!!!

  • that is really cool, that will save me alot of time

  • When you're in the droplets settings, it should allow you to leave the destination empty, so when you drag your photos into the droplet later a prompt comes up asking for the destination.

maybe in a patch or cs5?

  • you are cool keep uploading :)

    thank you very much

  • Thank you! Saved me tons of time ;P

  • great tutorial!

  • great tut

  • amazingly useful! you just taught me how to save a lot of time!

  • Can this be done in CS3 also?

  • I'm doing it right now in CS2 so I don't see why not.

  • this is great tnx

  • Esto lo ha tenido Corel Photo Paint desde hace al menos 8 años...

  • so, say if i want to convert several photos to some type of filter, this would do it quickly?

  • yes,

whatever you record in your action is what will happen to each photo you place in the droplet

  • Very good job :) helped me a lot!

Thanks and keep up the good work :)

  • great video, Thanks!

  • Excellent tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Also, could you pease tell us what program you used to make the tutorial? The zooming in and out makes it better because clarity is lost in presentations which show the whole desktop

  • excellent feature, i did not know about this

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT!

  • thanks. love the whole idea of a droplet

  • Right on bro, I never tried this b4

  • thanks man! this will be useful.

  • nice tip man! very helpful

  • I see you're saving the image as a jpeg. That format has been hurting a lot of my images lately. It seems like it's happening more frequently too. Is there something I can do to minimise the chances of my images losing quality or should I just use other formats?

  • try a PNG for a HQ Pic!

  • ur awesome at photoshop dude do you sell dvds or something cuz u rock at this

  • i love your videos. there great. 5 stars

  • This is so fucking great thank you I needed this :) THank you Very much :d

Well, one more excelent vid by Howard.

(And the fucking phone rings ROFLMAO)

  • Your vids are always so educational and real easy to follow. Thanx to you i am becoming really good using photoshop. Thank you :)

  • very nice, keep it up

  • Okay thx for your Informations!

  • Okay Okay ......can you send me the version via MSN or ICQ?

  • No. You have to buy it. It's illegal to obtain it without paying. Don't ask again.

  • It isn't right i have saw your Obama Video i've saw the Extended Verison because on the top there are some Tools of 3D and so on but here nothing only the cs4 normal version tools...

And 3D tools are only in the extended version!

  • First off, the 3D tools are on the bottom of my tools pallet. Second, look at the top of the screen. You'll see the 3D menu option. 3rd, why are you questioning me? It's very irritating.

  • On your Obama Video you have used the Extended Version and here the normal-Version!

    Why?

  • All my CS4 vids are using the Extended version. It's the only version I bought.

  • Do you have this full or trial?

  • It's the full version.

  • How much it kosts?

    Or was it free?

  • The Extended version is $999.

  • Sure?

    Haven't you a cracked version?

  • I bought my copy from Adobe.

  • How do you get Photoshop CS4 Extended?

  • Buy it from Adobe's website.

  • Really Steady!

  • 1:01

    haha :D

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! ROLF!!!! the dude said like"the firthstf..." it was so funny, it's on 1:02!!!! AWESOME THOUGH.

  • Nice video bro

  • it looks for me just like a shourtcut to your recorded action-macro which bring a question...

once you saved your droplet - doest it include information from your recorded action inside of new droplet file or it's just a link into your photoshop action-library ?

because if i can delete / remove - recorded action-macro to make my list sorted and still keep specific macros insie of external droplets, well than i'm up for it...

  • hi,

for a multiple image adjustments ... etc... i'm only used to record an action and than File / Automate / Batch - in the new dialog basicaly i just choose folder and i'm done

so i guess that main power of droplets is to make a life a little bit easier ? like that once you will create it it's easier to drag & drop images into shortcut of your action than to browse a folder with pictures through Batch window

  • Great. thanks :)

  • was not fast at all and that was great advice.. thanks so much...

  • This would be really good if you have a website and you're watermarking your pictures, this would make it much faster. Also, your computer is really fast!

  • i like your voice!! its so articulate!! and SEXY!!

  • Thx! Luv this tut! 5/5

I just cant see myself using this coz I dont have a big need to work with batches of pics

  • didnt know about that tool. Thanks!

  • YOU ROCK! THANKS ALOT~!

  • Thank you for the tutorial, You explain your methods very well. Keep them up Howard.

    Brandon

  • You're welcome. Thanks for the comment!

  • Isn't also possible to perform actions in batch?

  • I believe so.

  • Cool, beats doing it by hand pic by pic any day :)

  • Definitely a huge time saver!

  • Wow, thanks : )

  • sweet! cheers

  • Incredible tip...I'm still using CS2 and didn't know this existed. Huge time saver. Thanks

  • Wow, I didn't know you could do macros in Photoshop :D
