The classical influence in this song is tremendous. And great harmony. I fail to see the gothicness in this. Except in the subtlety of the black and white clothing. The odd minimalism of the place in decor and furniture. And perhaps not knowing her well as an artist she has more gothic songs and on this rare occasion she chose to do a classical tune with lyrics that would reflect something dark and deep maybe.
@sparebone This song is actually a madrigal, as were all of the songs on their first album. I'm sorry I don't have access to my copy of the album right now, or I'd tell you who originally wrote it. I can tell you that it dates back to the Renaissance though.
