on the context of mahabharata, i heared a similar think in ramayana, where hanuman is the source of wisdom (or light for rama) for rama, although (hanuman) he has the power to jump over lanka and meet sita successfully. he want rama to fight with ravana to get back sita (there he also only instruct and advice. as a commander in chief to rama) bcoz this is hail the pride of lord rama and not the other way

The Chosen are the ones that stand with Dharma, I believe God doesn't favor Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs or Buddhists. If you go by Bhagavat Gita, Lord Krishna says that he stands with Dharma.
As you can see now, Hinduism isn't all pure, it has gotten corrupted and there exist evil people in Hinduism too. I believe God chooses the people who stand for Dharma.

@bhasinuscuscable "poor & misery in India"-the British left us in a horrible state. Before the British came India's GDP accounted for 22% of the world's GDP, similar to America's today. By the time they left we were down to 1%! That is like America's GDP of 14 trillion going down to 500 billion!

@bhasinuscuscable fortunately, the younger generation is liking arranged marriages less & less. In my own family, 3 of my nieces got married to people from other states, i have no clue of their caste. Caste will break down as arranged marriages go down

Bhagavad Gita too speaks against inter-varna mixing. Do you mean to say that these holy texts have degenerated from earlier times?

@uccaisiravas The ONLY authentic Holy book for the Hindus is the Ramayana - the Book of God Rama and that is because we know that Sage Valmiki wrote it. The other books are holy but not at the level of the Ramayana, because we have no idea who wrote it.
Secondly aren't there passages in the other holy books that are not being followed? Slavery is ok in the Bible! If u eat shellfish u are condemned in the Bible!

@uccaisiravas Finally looks like the #4 was important back then. The essential elements were 4 in # - Earth, Air, Water & Fire. They seem to have divided humanity into 4 also. Even Plato talks about people as Gold, Silver, Bronze etc. Division by itself is not a bad thing-u can call a man educated & another uneducated.

Then came the white man, by the time the British left, our GDP was down to 1-2%! The British took a 100+ million people from richness to utter poverty in 200 yrs. The situation is changing now - the answer is jobs! China is so hungry for raw materials & new exports to the US & Europe are creating jobs like never before - that is what will end poverty not aid.
