I would have rather seen something new but they came in and changed everything killed off vulcan. A premovie usually supports the later films instead of voiding them
Just like i told some one else... You can't use the original 1960's TOS Enterprise as is on the big screen with todays special effects standards and expect to get away with it or expect it to look realistic. I agree i woouldn't have gone as far with the redesign. But, minor changes would have to be made to give her that epic look that newer movie goers expect now days.

First off. I would make the hull plating more pronounced. The Deflector Dish needs to have a mre Scuffed up look instead of the polished look. The ships windows need to be transparent to allow interior to be visible from outside the ship.(see Star Trek Voyager)

Only two things I did not like.
The ship's size, and the 'engineering' section mainly looking like Axis Chemical factory/brewery. Rest was fine.
