This is more about a time where everyone in Hollywood was talking about how Dudley was becoming a big drunk in real life but it turned out he wasn't drinking, he had a brain disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy that was making him look drunk all the time. The guy that played Squiggy has a similar problem.
Russell sucks as Arthur. Pathetic remake. They waited until Dudley died to ruin Arthur. Dudley Moore created Arthur. You can try to copy it, but never succeed. Hollywood is destroying classics now.
@illethereal...This clip was taken from the old animated series, The Critic. The voice does almost sound like Dudley, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the folks from the Simpson's that did Arthur's voice here. They did good though. I like the clip. They wrote the script exactly as Arthur would joke about things.
@TheSsbcandidates I beg to differ. I can understand 9/11 but not anime. If anything anime is making cartoons tolerable to watch again. If anything 4Kids and the FCC ruined cartoons.
@Golddanboy I didn't mean the Parkinsons. Michael J Fox had a very defined persona and style of speech, that it seems like they could have done something amusing with.
please dont hate me for this question but I was wondering (cause Dudley Moore was just great) but did he voice himself in this show? or was it someone else? subject I having with someone else and either of us are sure-
The joke "No wonder I dribble so much" is loaded with dark humour, considering how Dudley Moore spent his last days.
The flash cartoons of the Critic, I have to say, were really darn funny also, and they stabbed Hollywood rubbish right in the heart, because the parodies they made were of the real movies. Hopefully they will do another series, sometime in the future, but we'll see.
@diddytke463 True. There's only a few mainstream movies I like nowadays. I don't wanna waste my money the rest of the crap in theaters. I prefer indie flicks.
Dudley started in revue in the early 60s and by the mid 60s had his own, massively popular weekly comedy show on the BBC with Peter Cook.He was a genious at Jazz piano.America only took notice of him with Ten and Arthur in the 70s.
I imagine there are a lot of people we haven't heard of in the US that are worth hearing about before they make a movie here. If Arthur had been a cokehead, he would have been famous for that and people would have assumed he was on coke towards the end of his life. Stereotypes are crap but I doubt he would have made it in the US as a pianist since most people wouldn't have bothered to listen. Which is a shame. Tho he probably wouldn't have experienced things he enjoyed here without the movies.
The smallest guys in Hollywood eh? They forgot Danny Devito.
