@andymacceltic To point at it so that her fingers don't confuse anyone watching it, like if her finger was in the way. I hope that's what your asking and not why she picked a screwdriver...
The fifth is not "five whole steps" away from the root as you said here....it's "the fifth step of the major scale that starts on the root." Five whole steps up from C would be A#. (C-D=1, D-E=2, E-F#=3, F#-G#=4, G#-A#=5).
Your videos are down to earth, relaxed and not stuffy - I really like that. I got a kick out of your use of a screwdriver as a pointer - nothing stuffy about that. I've learned a lot about accordions in less than 10 minutes of video watching.
The perfect 5th is only four and a half whole steps away.

why not put a full black cover over the screen, then we would not see a thing.

Clear. Straight to the point. Simple. This video solved a question I've had for many years now.

wow! Why to people make fun of people that play the accordion?
They look hard to really be able to "play" well.
I have a new respect for anyone playing these. They are no joke.

Good video. I have an accordion that looks almost identicle to this one made by Pollina that I've had since 1964!

So each bass button plays a single note, or does it play a chord?

Not bad, I kinda wish you'd slow down and be a little more newb friendly though.
