Hey @JustTurnOnTheCamera, I think the criticism and controversy surrounding this video is merely semantics. The connotation of the word religion is very negative nowadays. Many times religion is used as a means for gaining power or as a way to earn salvation. But I think Bethke's video is saying that that "religion" is a false gospel. "Religion says do, Jesus says done". Many people think he's bashing church and organized religion in this, but he really isn't.

well the things that i resent about religion are the fact that like the guy from the video said, how it builds huge churches but fail to feed the poor. I haven't yet seen anywhere in the bible that says God wanted us to build huge, luxurious churches in his name. Jesus was a humble man and he reflected God himself, he just want to be loved the way he deserves to be loved. The other good point is, it does start wars. Perfect recent example is this video, look at all the arguments it has created.

Pete, going off of what you said, I think you've misunderstood Bethke's purpose for the video (or I've misunderstood you). He doesn't *just* love Jesus as 'a person', Bethke accepts Christ as God's Son who came to save the world and he isn't bashing religion, necessarily, just referring to the legalism and self-righteousness as described in the gospels. If you would care to take the time, look at two articles I'm going to post on here. They will help you understand better, as they helped me.

I think some people are under the assumption that guy is only calling Jesus a man. Not at all. He said Jesus is the son of God (the Father and Son are one -Jesus). So the video was made praising Jesus for his divinity and separating man made rules from Jesus. Religion is man made. Christianity is God made. It's not a religion. It's a relationship. I was raised a catholic, and technically I am, because I went through with my confirmation while I was 13. At 13 I couldnt stand up to my family who actually believes in catholicism, and say no, I refuse to be a part of your religion and beliefs. At 13 I really didnt understand the faith at all. I was more focused on boys and lipgloss. At 17 I took a course in history, we studied history though the entire course and I realized I'm more of a Lutheran than anything. It took a lot longer than 13yrs

I've been watching his others videos and... WOW! He's amazing and has a great testimony. You guys should also check out another of his vids called "Sexual Healing". It's about time someone started making videos with powerful messages & I respect him for that.
