Rodney was brilliant. The final few games that first season namely one home game against Stoke, we battered them that day, Gordon Banks was just brilliant. We had plenty of opportunities to win the league that season, don't blame Rodney.
I blame Malcolm Allison to some degree because he played Rod when he wasn't fit and he should have eased Rod into the team and got him fit...but I still don't believe Rod cost us the title and I remember us stuffing Derby who won the title at Maine Rod and Marshy ran riot and scored an individually brilliant goal......
Rod didn't lose Man City the Championship...the great team from the late 60's was starting to go into decline anyway.......I honestly believe City wouldn't have won the title even if Rod hadn't joined........
You can tell Rod loves Manchester City and it broke his heart to be forced out by Tony Book in such a disgraceful way. In his autobiography he said that thinking of the "Son of my Father" chant created by the Kippax gives him goosebumps even now, all these years later!
