Irene was a lot like the east-coast earthquake that just happened, in that people who were used to such things acted like they were no big deal, and they wondered why people were freaking out.

The reason hurricaines are not terribly big news here in Florida, and earthquakes are not terribly big news in California, is because they happen ALL the time.

I just thought a lot of people were being inconsiderate by acting like northern states made too big of a deal out of Irene.
