The wealth in America is more concentrated than ever before in our lifetimes. The Minimum Wage doesn't get raised for over TEN YEARS... There are Millions of homeless people, constantly on the move in all our urban areas... One in five children are born into miserable poverty... There are over 50 Million Americans with no Health Care, not even basic... Yeah, I'd say the social contract in Amerika is totally shredded! It's everybody for themselves, it's ugly, and it's going to get worse!
” Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called “diversity” actually perpetuate racism. You don’t have freedom because you are a hyphenated American; you have freedom because you are an individual, and that should be protected.” — Ron Paul
The ONLY way to bring jobs back to America is to lower the minimum wage to $2/hr.
This is the only way we can compete with China. Paul Ryan and my fellow republicans need to act on this now. Employers also should not have to carry the burdern of paying for health care either. Go get em Paul!
@qwertypoiu4321 Exploitation - particularly in the factory system - begins with seizure of land: this has been true in England, India, Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Latin America & elsewhere. Subsistence farmers refuse to send their 8 year old children to work 110 hrs a week for barely enough to eat so that some ass in a western city can buy a cheap pair of sweatpants while an even greater ass makes billions. That is why they first must COERCE them off the land and COERCE them into wage servitude.
The white shoe boy Money Junkies of Wall Street have screwed over the middle class by first outsourcing all of our jobs to cheap labors countries all around the world and 2) they have screwed us over by schemes and dreams unheard using exotic investment vehicles like Credit Default Swaps, CDOs, and Mortgage backed securities.
China will whip our butts in a little while. While we were fighting about them being Communists, they have somehow successfully decided to IMPORT less, while EXPORTING much. They now have most of our industries and maybe even some of our "secrets."
Image how much more we would have if the govt didn't take almost 70% of R money in taxes & fees - 30% payroll taxes then add property taxes, gas taxes, car registration, liquor tax, numerous telephone taxes, cigarette tax, hunting fees, marriage license fee, social security tax, sales taxes, municipality taxes, road usage tax, utility taxes, wheel taxes. medicare taxes -- and list goes on. None of these taxes existed 100 yrs ago!!
The day is coming when MANY workers will just shoot their managers and owners. Is that the only thing that will affect wages? Low wage is abuse. Abuse needs to be eliminated. Read "The DOOZIE" amazon.com
For the main part this is why workers need a union. The rich corp want to keep the labor cost down. When it comes down to the money, your well being / pay at work will be lost. You lose so they can win. There are more low pay workers than bosses / corp. Workers have power! No union, you will just be a speed bump on their way to more money! You will be nothing!
How could U.S. pay off their over 300 trillions debt? Yet, they keep talking about tax cut and wage up. In the fight against terrorism, they spent over 100 billions to prevent terrorists when the actual American death caused by terrorist globally is less than 100 people.
Every year, more than 400000 people died by heart disease, and the fund for research is roughly 3 billions. Quite a nice deal.
Study HISTORY Folks The BET time for the MIDDLE CLASS Ever was the 1920's - We cut the tax rates, lowered the cost of gov't by 50 percent and had govt get out of the way - the middle class wages went UP 24% in just a few years!!!!
@imanerd36 That is why Kennedy Lowered taxes to improve the economy.... as the 50's productivity - the post war economy improved because there were lots of empty jobs caused but the deaths of workers in the war - duh. The tax rate didn't Help - it hurt. As to this video - it skews the stats and alters the blame.
this lady is trying to mislead you..the nations she is speaking of in most cases have lower corp. tax rates but still punish people based on pay and set caps...this LOWERS the standard and does not raise the bottom to the top, only comparativley, within the rest of their nation, not the world. And @ 1:40 this guy would rather see them starving and struggling like the poor this to me is the problem with liberalism,we r talking about maybe 5% of da pop. and this is the soul focus of these pple, shame
Too many people assume that punishing prospect will solve all problems...this is obviously a fallacy, there is no proof of this and makes no sense, we have to quit looking at the people at the top and saying i wish that they were in my shoes and start figuring out what we can do to get the most out of life and prosper to the best of our abilities, let me ask should this welder in the vid be treated the same as a buisness executive? hell no should an exec. make 30,000 a yr. hell no,
Not lower nominal wages? Maybe a wage increase below inflation but firms have to invest in efficiency. "We" did that in Scandinavia and we have been competing for decades now.
I think everybody should be a member of a union. I am not in a union. That has been my problem. I worked in a milk factory earning only 8 bucks per hour. I sorted rotten milk which was returned. Union members in the same dairy earned about 25 (or more) dollars per hour. They wouldn't let me in the union. Union members didn't do the dirty work. I did.
It is the non-union working poor who are exploited. They need a union for them - McDonalds, 7-Eleven workers, security guards, etc.
When GM died, tax revenues are used to bail out GM, leading to higher taxes.
Union membership is not a good thing. Long term, it's unsustainable. It's a house of cards that'll come crashing down one day.
They guy that can't make ends meet on $30,000/yr, of course he can't. He lives in California. He needs to move to Nevada, or Arizona where it's less expensive to live. Funny how they used the most expensive state as an example in this video.
Unions have their benefits. They can advocate on your behalf in regards to a wrongful termination or better benefits.
Not even working class people can survive in some parts of California unless they own their homes and aren't dealing with any medical problems and have wages liveable wages.
I'm not 100% against unions. However, they do more damage than good. They advocate for irrational benefits and huge wages for workers, which simply prompts industries to relocate elsewhere, out of the country.
How does it benefit union workers when businesses move to Mexico, China, where operating costs are much lower?
In my opinion American corporations have been able to lower wages instead of being more efficient. In Denmark (and Scandinavia) we have had strong unions for a long time and we have been able to compete on the world market.
Its going to be tricky the next decade as we might have gotten too big pay increases but we will see how it goes.
And there is no minimum wage in Denmark but most ppl under 18 get around 12-15 bucks/hour. Ppl without an education would get 25 bucks/hour at least.
the scandinavian countries are a menace in the world. they engage in all kinds of shenanigans that have the net effect of raising the cost on everything - cap n trade, global warming, unions, etc. and they want to export this to every other country.
the fact is, you can't compare denmark (5 million in population) to the usa (300 million).
what works for your tiny country, won't necessarily work for us, since our population is massive.
The 4 first lines are "Blah blah blah" (and in fact Im pretty sure the US is far more advanced in the cap and trade). We have had higher costs but we havent forced anybody to buy our stuff so ... whats your point?
And small country vs big country is not an issue. Scandinavia has shown that its possible.
