  • Well the Speaker is always from the Government not the Opposition, so it makes sense that Speaker would be jumping on Rudd

  • fuck you mr speaker let him go!

  • Kevin Rudd is a naturally gifted public speaker. Howard has had his age catch up with him, and now he's making more slip-ups than ever before.

Rudd is the best politician since perhaps John Curtin.

  • And you're retarded.

  • Cock!

rudd is a good speaker though

  • If labour Win this election would you guys think that labour would be heavily influenced by union pressure on decisions effecting the workplace?

I honestly think i would likely be the case,as most of them come from a union backgrounds

  • It is actually "Labor", and no.

What evidence do you have to back up your assertion?

Tony Abbott lead a strike when he was a union official before joining the Liberal Party...

John Howard lived at home with his mum until he was 32...

    Peter Costello was a solicitor...

Do any of those facts influence their decisions in government?

  • Rudd is not a genuine labour man -no common touch like hawke, etc. He belongs in a university

  • Labor's ready to govern... Thank you Kevin!!! Best of luck...

  • If looks could kill, Rudd would be dead. You see those eyes Howard was giving him?

Rudd is a much, MUCH better speaker then Howard. Liberals critisize Rudd of being a union sell-out. Its nothing of the sort. The unions back HIM; he did not ask them to back him, they simply back his policies.

And now that Howard is losing his battle, he's going for the 'kindly old man' sympathy appeal for votes.

Sorry howard, but Australia does not vote on sympathy. It's about POLICIES !

  • He's a funny man. I just wanna grab his cheeks and squeeze them!! Face cheeks I mean!

  • fuck rudd

  • Such a concise and penetrating argument.

You are a fine example of the damage that has been done to the public education system after 11 years of conservative rule.

  • I agree, that was not at all an argument, it was dumbed down for most of the users on here. You want to know why I wont vote for Rudd? Perhaps you can even change my mind. My reasoning is that a)Rudd is slimey, I've seen him in talks, and he is an expert and telling people what they want to hear, and saying things that they wont like in a manner to win them over..in other words, obvious lies.

  • b) He is a follower, not a leader, he only responds, he does not take initiative. c) He and Labour are the Unions bitch...do you really think WorkChoices will disapear? d)He is far too..obviously..inexpreienced, I like the job howard has done with australia, our foreign relations need more work, but I dont see Rudd improving anything.

  • Some reasonable assertions - apart from the "slimey" bit.

    a) he is a politician - they all do that

    b) He has been leading policy debate in this country without running it for the past 9 months. I can't see any validity in your point

    c) That went out with Hawke. Keating took no stock in the unions - he ran them. Rudd is too far right to even contemplate bowing to the unions, he sees them as a necessary evil whereas Howard sees them as just evil.

  • d) The man has been in politics his entire working life. If experience is a factor then Howard only got there by being Lazarus with a triple bypass and then only because we were all sick of Keating.

Personally, not being a Labor or Liberal steadfast, I feel that this country needs change - be it in the form of leadership change in the Libs or regime change for the country - we are becoming far too mean and cynical a nation. It needs to change.

  • in response to a)they all do that sure, but rudd does it in such a way that fools most of the public, and leaves it obvious to the rest that he is nothing but disingenuous.

  • b)i was talking in the context of his campaign..he has made very few assertions that were not responsive in nature. c) you don't recall the whole thing with the actu then? d) take a look at his career in more detail, and you really think hes fit to run the country? Also.., I think australia's assertive stance is just right, we are a very young country, asserting ourselves is the right thing to do. I also don't like the idea of our PM being so Christian motivated...

  • also his new plans for the economy are nothing embraced

  • Yep! All that pointless hot air was cutting wasn't it!! Oh, it's all I ever hear about when I watch the news today!! Day in & day out! When will it stop? Another great victory to Big Kev!! Order! Order!! I wish he'd "pull these speeches out of the top drawer and throw them out the back door" (to steal his 2 & only slogans)! But they're gems!! Aren't they?

  • Who's Rudd?

  • lol - an "Excellent orator"

  • I'd hope so! ;) lol

  • Rudd is a Champ

  • Kate Ellis.... is my pick!! I wonder if she'll cross the floor! haha

  • Go Ruddy!

  • Who's the brunette babe, behind the weasel, that does nothing but nod on queue every so often?? I'd 'vote' for her!! ;)~

  • Mrs Justine Elliot (Richmond) is my guess. Of the Labor MPs in the HoR, I'd go for Nicola Roxon (Gellibrand), Kate Ellis (Adelaide; the blondie backbencher in the middle), or maybe Tanya Plibersek (Sydney).

  • Rudd kicks ass as a debator

check this. Rudd is doing it

-Paul Keating Taunts John Hewson In Parliament

  • John Howard is such an arrogant bastard. I hope he loses his own seat at the November elections.

  • bye bye john, enjoy your last days in office

  • John Howard's a joke... he rides on bigotry and ignorance... and he continuously put on an act which I guess everyone now knows it's all part of the political game... Say bye bye to Howard this year!!!

  • Much better speaker than Kym Beazley---but I still like ol' Bomber.

  • John Howard is a coward and he is bald.

  • Heh - he isn't a coward. I don't like the man but he is anything but a coward.

A liar, a cunning cheat, an opportunist, a consumate politician, a bastard - yes - but definitely not a coward.

    But he is indeed bald(ish)!

  • John Howard is not a coward. John HUNT is a coward ;)

  • WOW! The guy can talk to the point! Great orator!

  • Impressive speech wasn't it? Far from the usual bland oratory that we put up with!

  • Legend.
