the ghasts don't make portals when they shoot it, the portals just deactivate when they shoot it and then you get killed go through your portal and it can't make a portal where there is one so it make another one

That portal thing happened to me!When your portal gets broken in the nether you can't enter through it again so a new portal appears in the nether.Then if u fix your previous portal it will lead back to your original one in the regular world.Took me awhile to figure it out.
