  • I have played my cherryburst for 4 ears now. I like the sound. The finish on this guitar SUX! Cracks started appearing at the neck pocket corners after 6 months! Now the finish has chipped off in the cutouts and has started onto the body. I have also noticed if you get a ding in the finish you will see how air gets under the finish and will eventually start flaking off. I'm in the process of refretting and refinishing mine now.

  • man i sure hope this fender doesn't turn me bald..

  • How can you hear the classic Fender sound with that bunch of noise coming out of it?

  • I don't hear the classic fender sound in this guitar. The Samatarian no sound pick's haven't got the classic sound..

  • How can you shred on this guitar? I think I'm going to throw up.

  • @jordanlcombs looks can be deceiving.

  • PRS SE are bum bum

  • Finish is fucking beastly

  • Could you please let me know what is the sound difference between an ash and an alder body ? Deos generally ash produces a darker tone than an alder one ?

  • @snipperacoustics alder seems to have more umph in the lower mid range, whereas Ash is pretty well balanced in its highs, mids, and lows and seems to sustain longer. Of course pickups can make a big difference.

  • Just got it yesterday for my birthday. Rosewood neck. Boner time. :)

  • can you play cords and power cords on this guitar. In other words popular music?

  • @Luigiano61

You can play pretty much everything on this guitar. It is a quality instrument.

If you want really heavy stuff get a guitar with EMG active pickups fitted.

This fender is a beautiful and versatile instrument. It depends on your budget and what style of music you want to play as to which guitar you should get. This would be a major purchase to most of us Joe Average guys. Unless you are absolutely minted.

  • well, yea, you can play chords and power chords on any guitar.

  • @ARVNpistola313 what! Impossible!

  • Nah man, are you crazy!? Everyone knows if you play a power chord on a Strat your fingers fall off. :|

  • this guitar will play the heaviest music you can think of....just get the right amp.

  • and a couple of hot rails!

  • I have this exact guitar, bought it 2 1/2 years ago. The SCN pickups with S-1 is awesome. You can get pretty heavy sound out of it if you run it through the right amp. I ran mine through a 5150, and it floored me time and time again. It won't sound like a gibson though, but it doesn't compromise the natural clean fender tone, but gives you options if you run it through a very dirty amp (5150 or similar). Excellent guitar. Glad I got mine before they raised the price by $400

  • in the local music store its 1300 american standered

    am i getting ripped off?

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct no it's what i paid for mine GO FOR IT ! :D

  • thanks

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct hell ya there like $999.99 here at guitar center oh and i think they went through a price drop

  • @jamesmanortiz

Presumably that was for an American Standard?£640 Sterling. That's a great price. If that's for a deluxe..... even better!!

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct

If you are talking American Standard in the UK they are £800. Euros 920, $1248 US @ 13 Feb 2010.

So it depends which currency you are talking. Obviously they will be cheaper in the ole US of A. For a USA deluxe in the UK that's approx £1,000, 1150Euros, $1,560US

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct yes. buy it online if you can or try to find a better deal

  • Got one too, bought mine a few years ago so its the anni version. Mines not cherry burst or tobacco, I haven't seen another one like it... its a color in between (might be sienna burst but even still, I haven't seen one like it). I paid $1350 at guitar hole out the door but I didn't want the plain black case so I had to buy the vintage case for the extra $50.

  • mines cherryburst too..rosewood fretboard..paid 1800 and some change for it.

  • i bought one brand new last week along with a new 65 reissue deluxe reverb amp. the sound is awsome bout the only time im not playing it is when im in bed sleeping. beautiful clean tones and handles a big muff really well...tho i prefer to play stragiht thru the amp (clean)

  • I have The Same One With The Exception Of Cream Pearloid Pickguard and matching tremolo plate. VIVA FENDER!!!

  • I have one of these, almost identical to the one being played in the vid....man i love it.

  • I bought one of these beauties a few years ago, cherry burst. They've gone up about $500 bucks since I bought mine, glad I got her when i did, she's absolutely perfect! (after i put some more springs in the tremolo)

  • Is the body 2- or 3-piece?

  • I brought one of these yesterday, it totally blew me away in every way possible. incredible guitar!

  • Can you use the switch like a killswitch?

  • No, not without modification.

  • Actually, you can. It only works on the MIA Deluxe Strats. If you push on the S1 switch just enough before you actually activate it, it lowers the sound to the point where it emulates a killswitch. Try it :) it works for me.

  • @gangsteronno

Actually, yes you can. tap it lightly just so that the pickups are turned off and the S1 switch isnt engaged.

  • what is the "ash" body ?

  • see above ^

  • where ?

  • Alder is actually the lighter wood. There are two different types of Ash..Hard Ash and Swamp Ash. The Ash bodies produce brighter tones with more sustain, where the Alder is a more balanced tone. Hard Ash is heavy, Swamp Ash, while maintaining it's brightness, is lighter by about a pound.

  • More balanced throughout the musical spectrum, ie more even lows mids and highs.

  • Ash is much denser than the standard alder body, so there is definently some tonal difference between the two, contrast and compare, and see if its worth it to you to spend that extra few dollars.

  • ash is the wood the body is made from!

  • All these are reposts from above.

  • how much

  • Just got mine today. Beautiful guitar. Can't wait to use my tonelab with it.

  • i have one just like that.

plays like a dream. the tones are amazing.

i gt mine for £700 second hand but mint

    its all goood

  • how much does one cost??? and cam you take off the wamybar??

  • It really depends on your application. What type of sounds are you trying to achieve?

  • is this guitar good for grunge music.. EG. Nirvana?? i also want to play a\other classic rock (AC DC, Van Halen etc) so is this guitar good for playing those type of songs??

  • While you can get in the ballpark with this strat, it really isn't going to nail these tones. All the music you've described are humbucker driven, so maybe a humbucker equipped guitar is more of what you're after.

  • ok... so wat guitar would you recommend??

  • According to what price range. Possibly an American Vintage Hot Rod 57 or Highway 1 HSS?

  • do u know how much they are (price)?? and btw i live in Australia so i dont know wat guitars are around

  • We have the HWY 1 HSS for $749 USD. Hot Rod 57 for $1599 USD. Not sure what pricing is like in Australia though.

  • a PRS

  • haha i got an american sunburst strat with humbuckers and it plays great/

  • sounds like you want a gibson, even though they can be more expensive, i recomend an SG, i have one and its the best guitar i have ever played

  • ok witch is better ash or hss

  • Ash is bright, definitely bright. HSS, with the humbucker and HOT SCN in the middle and neck is a little beefy and hotter.

  • ok i cant decide is the hss better or the ash

  • can someone please explain what is the main difference between the s-s-s and the h-s-s sound wise?

  • Such a great guitar with the worst, most charactreless pick ups...

  • i have the maple board, 3 tone burst alder s-s-s am dlx...and it's my baby i bought it new in '05 and it has the original schaller locking tuners (without the "f" on the back)...itnever goes out of tune and the scn's are amazing dead quiet but still very stratty...i only wish i could also afford the h-s-s version too! and i REALLy wished they'd make an H-H version!

  • i bought one today in vintage white it was a scratch and dent $400 dollars off :DDDD

  • what is the difference between the fender stratocaster eric clapton and fenfer stratocaster? yea i know about the booster but what is the main differnce? pls answer.. thnxs! :D

  • Clapton,

Our Eric Clapton Stratocaster guitar is guaranteed to please all you "Slowhand" fans. • Dude... sweet guitar... but let me ask you guys, a few questions... What are the main differences from Ash do Alder? If I get one myself, is it worthy to put a Floyd Rose Tremolo?

    Thanks a lot!

  • See above.

  • dude, i have this baught this guitar on sail for 800, last week. and it can defenatly handle the floyed rose, i jam it with heavy distortion and it stays intune beatufuly, well unless you go crazy with the whammy like steve vai and them, then it will go out

  • wow! a death metal hippie! :D

  • what does ash mean?

  • ash is the wood the body is made from!

  • are ther any major differences between the ash bodied version and the original non-ash bodied versions??

  • Ash is much denser than the standard alder body, so there is definently some tonal difference between the two, contrast and compare, and see if its worth it to you to spend that extra few dollars.

  • what does "more balanced" tone mean?

  • More balanced throughout the musical spectrum, ie more even lows mids and highs.

  • k thanks.

this is actually the guitar i have, but with rosewood fretboard

  • what´s the difference between the ash and the alder body?

  • i've got an american deluxe strat with an alder body and another strat with an ash body. the only difference i notice is that the ash body is lighter in weight.
