  • Okay that just makes me cry. My beautiful Main Coon, Cali, died on Friday after 20 wonderful years. I miss her SO MUCH. : (

  • My very first pet was a big orange maine coon named Cocoa :D. Great cats.

  • Aw...a carbon-copy of my Theo...It was because of him I learned how to do the little chitter-sound this one's doing, how to speak kitteh, and how to really get through to a cat.

  • Cute, looks a ton like a smaller version of my Nelson. These cats are like potato chips, can't stop at one.

  • ive always wondered why cats do that

  • cats are beautiful creatures, and in my opinion, they are the best animals to have as pets, but let's be honest, they can sometimes be psychos!!!!! 0_o

  • excellent hunters

  • so beautiful *-* my cat does it too *--*

  • lol wie geil

  • I always heard when cats do that they're trying to "charm" the birds, bugs, whatever.

  • @Nut4trains thats true :D its like some sort of speaking bird's language or hypnosis ... so i read.

  • this is what my maine coon does when she sees bugs or spiders on the wall/ceiling. she usually makes a tiny bit of noise though.

  • That's the nicest looking MC I've seen!...I so wanted to buy one, but all the one's that look the best to me, are already sold!....Yours is purrfection!:)

  • @chhhhhhhhhhhhhhase13 I feel you on that, same here. ): I'm sorry for your loss. I can relate (you can see the video dedication I have of a cat like this one). Maine coons are amazing!

  • @chhhhhhhhhhhhhhase13 Just lost my baby too. It's incredibly hard to go through it. There really isn't anything you can do to make it hurt less. My heart goes out to everyone who goes through it, and not just with cats. Any pets.

  • 可愛い♪

  • "I'm gonna get those birds..." blink, sneer..."I'm gonna get those birds..." blink, sneer..."I'm gonna get those birds..." blink, sneer...

  • My main coon crosses both do the same thing its so funny to watch! :P They are very talkative cats! :)

  • @ickledemon all cats do this, not only Maine Coon :l

  • My former roommates had a Maine Coon named Lovey, who used to do this same thing. You could tell how close the birds were to the house by how chatty he was and how fast his tail was wagging!

  • so cute.my cat did the same thing and looked the same. R.I.P Cleo, i miss u

  • such a beautiful cat. lovely fur.

  • That so much looks like my cat Cricket. Such lovely breeds.

  • wow kiddy wants to caught the bird

  • haha my cat looks exactly like urs and does the same thing:P i wonder why.

  • My cat dose that to but she sneaks up on them and just as she is in pouncing distance she will chatter and the bird fly's off

  • Cat: "GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!...Damn hooligans..."

  • hahha. i love when they chirp !! we always have a ton of birds in our big backyard so our cats sit at the window and freak out.

  • Haha, that's what my cat does! I wonder if it's a Maine Coon thing or if other cats do it?

  • My cat is a Maine Coon too and he does that too! Every morning, he and his brother sit by the window that faces the bird feeder and they both do that for at least a half hour. It's so cute, I always call it "birdy meowing"

  • my cat does that too but she is a tabby she is soooooooo cute and i love her sooo much watch her in one of my videos it is called my cute kitty cat go to my channel and watch it(only if you want to of course)but it would be nice to have some more veiws(i dont even have 50 veiws)

  • looks like a young mufasa

  • my old cat does same with a crackle dead funny

  • hij ziet een vogeltje

  • My cat does that too!!

  • Why do cats do that? If anyone knows an answer please reply! Thnx!

  • @demonslayer55555585

    Cats are natural born predators and still like to hunt even if it's an indoor cat. When they chatter their teeth like that while watching birds or any other natural prey, they are frustrated and want to go catch the bird but can't get to it. Also when doing this they are gnashing their teeth with the same amount of force they would use to kill the bird. Hope that's helpful :3

  • @megantronchan Seriously Thank you!

  • My Maine Coon used to do that, he looked so similar to yours! They are truly beautiful cats :)

  • It's seems like main coons are to excited about the birds so they can't even speak

  • my maine coon does that too! They're so talkative so it's like they want to meow but dont wanna scare away the birds! lol

  • chirp chirp chirp..

  • My cat, Nala, does the same. I think in this way she tell me about the birds she can't catch XD

  • He looks very kingly. Maine coons just look so regal to me.

  • So sorry to all you guys who miss your Maine Coon's - I know when its Tigger's time I wont know what to do.

  • @Achase4u We also have a Maine Coon and his name is Tigger.

  • @jab1625 good name :-)

  • @Achase4u that rhymed

  • My Maine Coon (may she rest in peace) looks almost like yours, except when she saw a bird she'd JUMP at the window.

  • wow.. spitting image of my maine coon !!!

  • my cat used to do that.... <3 R.I.P Jolly <3<3<3

  • restless mouth syndrome

  • I love mainecoons. Such exotic animals.

  • omg,so cute!

  • gave me an orgasm.

  • yea mine used to chirp just like a bird lol

  • but will it blend?

  • My cats did that when they saw squirrels.

  • He/She is chittering. Almost all Maine Coons do it to some degree, they are trying to imitate bird calls so they can sneak up on prey.

  • My cat does the same thing

  • this looks like ricka and reminds me of him :(

  • Mine does that too, but he also makes this sound that sounds like "Mac Mac Mac" (his name is Mac, so we figure he's "introducing" himself to the birds rofl)

  • Anyone with a Main coon has your cat's voice changed at all as it got older?? My cat Mr. Missy, he sound like he is mowing with something in his mouth when there is nothing in it.

  • I have a cat which I got from the local cat shelter as a kitten...

    Looking at YT videos of Main Coons and reading all the details on Main Coon websites, I think that she is a pedigree Main Coon...

    Her physical characteristics, vocalisations, intelligence, and behaviour are all perfectly Main Coon-like. She doesn't have one un-Main Coon characteristic...

    And now I'm suspicious and fearful that she may have been dumped at the cat shelter because of the genetic defect that causes heat disease...

  • their instincts to hunt are SO STRONG they just have to do something to release/satisfy that need :D

  • Definitely the prettiest cats

  • Our cat does that too. He sits at the window and when he's see's a bird it's like his brain shorts out and he starts making these wierd noises. its funny

  • I don't know what my cat is, it's black and white. Mother was white, father was black. His fur texture seems like a Bombay cat, but I'm not sure. He does that with his teeth when he sees a fly outside or something. But his teeth clatter, making a weird sound.

  • How cuteeeeee...

  • my cat(no specific breed) does that when watching flies or other insects

  • Mommy, I want one of those things to eat.

  • my maine coon does that!!! LOL

  • why do cats do that?

  • @Metzuyan1980

    they do that when something is angering them like a fly or a bird

  • haha lol

  • Hehehehe same does mine :P

  • O meu faz isto também! que tri!

  • my cat does the same thing !!

  • Look at that gall dern Maine Coon.

  • my cat does this when she saw a small lizard..ahaha

  • Awwwe I love this! My kitty just died & he did this too he was the only cat i had ever saw do that! awwwwe!

  • what a beautiful kitty!

  • AAAAAH! (happy scream) I just love cats when they do this!! :) Your cat is adorable! All cats are, actually. :)

  • lol hes practicing how he has to eat them XD

  • my maine coon does the same thing! haha, it is funny to watch :-)

  • The discription to the viseo is actually the explanation for why your cat does that. Felines, for some odd reason, do that when they want something or get frustrated. My childhood babysitter's cat did that when he hunted in the trees.

    ~~~
    Dad used to run a lazer pointer across a wall and my Grandma's cat would watch it. Cat's brains calculate the object's path and look ahead where it will be. When May Sue did that he'd move the lazer on a different path. Then she'd do the mouth thing! xD
  • I want to hug your cat for eternity.
  • @NASIMNASIM LOL thanks!
  • @NASIMNASIM Yeah I wanna hug the cat too!!!
  • My maine coon does the same thing (:
  • Looks like my cat except it's a girl. Don't know how old she is because I found her as a stray in November 2 years ago but we all reckon she's about 6-8 years old now. She loves to look outside the window which I think is a hint she wants to go outside but we never let her because theres a large street outisde and we think she would never come back.
  • hahahaha funny(o; i olso hav a cat like that, so pretty, love ur cat!!
  • my cat looks just like urs!!! he even dose that with his mouth and chatters!!! he also rubs his nose on the window making a squeaking sound ...me luvs me cats!!!
  • My Maine Coon looks just like yours. Same color fur, eyes, and even a similar profile. How funny. My cat doesn't do that with his mouth, though.
  • @sleepyady my cat looks like your too but he does do the thing with his mouth wither anymore
  • always wondered why cats do that - i have had many cats and each one of them would do this at some point !! - its like they are trying to talk to what they are thinking about hunting
  • @mookeyallen1 It means he or she wants to catch and kill what ever hes seeing.
    i have two young maine coons and they both do it :). the noise is funny to. when i use the laser pointer on them they both go nuts..
  • Go git 'em kitty!
  • My MC does that as well and makes some weird chattering noises too!
  • :-). Cute!
  • I love it when they do that!!!!!! ^_^
  • Aww that's sweet! It's like someone pushed the 'mute' button :-) What a sweetie!
  • Thanx for the video. My MC mix Dexter does this all the time. I've owned about 10 cats in my life and only Dex who is part MC has been doing that. He does it sometimes when I eat to. He mimics my speaking to.
  • LOOOl i had one of these. he was born into the house. im sure he wasnt full maine coon tho :) but he definatly was part
    theyr super lovable!
  • I think a voice-over might be in order here . Haha!! Adorable cat! =)
  • mine does this all the time and looks just like yours only he isnt a full blooded maine coon.
  • That's very interesting! When my MC male was chirping Blue Kays and Cardinals down from the trees *and then eating them!*, my other cats would watch him intently and "try" to imitate the behavior, but they just couldn't pull it off. Most cat owners, I've tried to describe the behavior, have never seen it. I have 2 females right now that are also VERY successful at catching food this way =)
  • Cat to human translation: Please, birds, fly into my mouth so I may devour you.
  • LOL. you could almost see the drool!!!
  • That is chirping behavior! As far as I know Maine's are the only domestic cat that does this. We have 2 Maine females now, and they try this on squirrels (doesn't work), but a big male MC we had years ago could "chirp" blue jays out of trees!
  • @spokanetrish that is not true. i have had many cats and at least two of them, that weren't maine coon, did this. any time a little bird would come and sit on the fence and every time i tied something on a string and swung it before them like a pendulum. such cuteness!
  • @spokanetrish I can tell that at least one of my British shorthairs shows this kind of behaviour (never saw an European shorthair do this though..)
  • the same colours as my maine coon but mine has a little bit bigger head
  • Its communicating with the mother ship
  • what he was doing in 0:06 was he was mimicing what he was gonna do to the bird if he caught it <3
  • LOL, hilarious! Licorice, my cat, used to do the same thing, making sounds. :D
  • i had a maine coon that looked exactly like yours and that's exactly what he did when he saw birds outside!! Cute video.
  • My female cat looks just like this male cat, except she doesn't have the classic Maine Coon thick tail. But, she loves water. Every morning, when I take a shower, she hops in the tub. She loves to play in the water, and though not every day, taking into consideration her coat, there are times when she lets me shower her completely down from head to tail with my hand held shower cord. She loves it. Then she licks herself dry. She always comes back for more. Maine Coons do love water, don't they?
  • He's very gorgeous!!!
  • I think that is a maincoon thing..I've had cats all my live but few if any besides Smokie who was a maincoon did that with her mouth...
  • lol he looks like mine too... main coons all look the same :)
  • my maine coon did that...she was so cute
  • He looks like my cat! :D
  • das macht meiner auch immer, wenn er Vögel sieht. Die versuchen die Vögel dami anzulocken. Das wurde auch schon bei Luchsen und Tiger beobachtet.
  • My cat's do that when they are watching the birds. I think that is soooo cute.
  • That behavior is called "chirping". It is kinda gross, but your cat is anticipating catching the bird. Once they catch their prey in their mouth, they make a sawing motion with their teeth to decapitate their prey. I have a female maine coon mix who does this all the time.
  • yes my cat witchy does that every single day... the birdies...
  • Your Cat must be a Great Hunter too as Mine does the Same thing. Maine Coons and NFCs are Superb Aerial Hunters esp with their Huge Stature.
  • Crazy! My Maine Coone does the exact same thing with birds through windows. Maybe a genetic thing?
  • my maine coon looks exactly like yours! mine is named rocky
  • They're loosening up their jaws when to do that, to be able to catch the prey quicker.
    it's like stretching your muscles before the gym. warmup!
  • my siamese used to do that whenever he saw a fly XD)
  • ive noticed em do that when they cant reach something they'd like to hunt
  • awesome maine coon, iI have one that looks extremely similar and does the same things to the city Pigeons around here. She even makes this chattering noise while she does it, like she is mimicking a bird call or something.  I love Maine Coons.
  • go to maine coon almere and chek my maine coon
  • mine does that , or used too anyways
  • my Maine Coon does that when i peek around a corner.
  • Thats funny, i like it !!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Funny man =))
  • He is beautiful. I have a male Maine coon (Duncan) that looks just like your cat that weighs 14 pounds and he's almost 2 years old. He's a beast!
  • Hey give me one
  • Adorable!!!!!!! :)
  • My cat used to do this when he was playing with one of his toys. He would chirp when he would open his mouth like that. So it's probably them trying to lure them in or something.
  • That is exactly what it is. When cats want birds to come to them, they start chittering. lol It's very cute, but I always make sure to bring my cats in when they star
