  • Rare and amazing stuff .. thanks for sharing

  • hall and oates couldnt hold a candle to david and eddie.halls add libbing fucks up everything

  • actually both parties at the end felt used. Eddie & Ruffin felt H&O were using them to get acceptance from the black audience while H&O started to feel like Eddie & Ruffin were two has been's riding on their coat-tails.

  • God this brings back memories, you can just tell Hall and Oates are LOVING being up there and singing alongside their heroes!

  • David hit that note it souded like a angel

  • Is that Grayson Hugh on Guitar?...............

  • they werent washed up. they were old. these songs at this time were damn near 25 yrs old!

  • @lawyounger You can't say they were old because in this vid they were in their late 40's the most 50 years old. Thats considered young today. Shit I was listening to Little Anthony and the Imperials performance at the R&R Hall of Fame concert two years ago and they brought the house down. Little Anthony is over 70 years old. I hate when people bring that age shit into play. Hanging in crack houses will age you (thats a given) and thats what did Ruffin in.

  • @rjplamf61 sheeeeeiiiittttttt!!!!! @ 40 and 50 they were old!!! the songs they're known for singing were recorded when they were in their teens and twenties!!! no way they're going to sound as good...

  • @rjplamf61 come on now they recorded those song 21 years earlier their not goin to sound the same but things change over time

  • I think that Eddie and David showed their true brilliance here. I think they all sounded good solo, together something was wrong. It is sad about David what a great talent. But he will live on forever. So drugs took him from us, don't hate, we've lost some of our best to the lure of drugs.

  • and today we are stuck with Bieber and lady gaga...wonder why i don't watch those shows anymore...

  • And it wasn't long after this that David Ruffin was found dead in a car overdosed...so sad.

  • @TheSmithbelynda yeah 6 years later.

  • u dont talk bout eddie and david like that u bitch 20blood eat a fat dick u bitch

  • Now THIS is a show!

  • David and Eddie werent has beens and theyw eretn washed up, they were still great, they still could sing well, and still put on great shows.

  • Lol thank you Eddie and David you made this whole thing worth watching.

  • Just refreshing to see this.

  • Hit #12 AC, #20 pop, #40 soul in Billboard. Too bad Eddie died from lung cancer. RIP, Eddie and David. God bless!

  • Mullet alert!

  • by far this is HnO finest moment!

  • Great to see David and Eddie!!! I never fully appreciated them until the 90's and it was too late.

  • They did this as well as part of a Hall and Oates album recorded live at the Apollo...God Bless Grown Folks music

  • david was right

  • As I watch & remember this show when

it first appeared in 85', I remember Ed's

initial reaction to performing with H&O,

"They want me to prop up another white

    boy?!?!?"

And David responded, "Hell, long's they

    pay us!"

  • @mrjoshjones1 Hall & Oates were propping THEM up. By that point in their lives, Ruffin & Hendricks were washed-up, coked-out has beens.

  • @MsDiesIrae9

You know little about the music industry.

David & Eddie the "K" were specifically contracted by H&O (John Oates actually)

management, to help promote their "Blue Eyed Soul" sound, and subsequent "live"

    album.

Ed had a tremendous amount of pride and did'nt care for the gig, John Oates had

to convince him. Both were certified H.O.F. at that point, and still getting offers from

all over the world.Washed up? In whose eye's?

  • @mrjoshjones1 If you'd do some reading, you'd understand how much this gig

    meant to H & O.

Just look at Hall's face when he shares the mic with David, every wanna-be's

lifelong fantasy (albeit 2 decades late!) singing with the most historic voice in

    Rock & Roll/60's Soul-Era.

  • @mrjoshjones1 Yeah, who wouldn't want to share the mic with a hero. That doesn't change the fact that Ruffin & Kendrick were washed up, broken down losers who were briefly pulled out of the gutter of obscurity (into the mid 80's music scene) and made a part of some major events (like Live Aid) because H&O believed in them despite knowing that they were bitter failures who blew their fortunes and were strung out on dope.

  • @MsDiesIrae9 I don't care about any of that, just the music and sound they are making. They made it then and they made it today when I heard it. For that I am thankful.

  • @mrjoshjones1 ,dont pay her no mind. They werent strung out dope, Eddie died of lung cancer and David overdosed. Those of us that have brains know that Hall and Oates looked up to David and Eddie, and recruited them to join them.

  • @tuzwol Worshipped, would be like it.

I know what a big Tempts fan and historian you are, nice to

see you defending David and Eddie the "K", part of the HOF6!

  • @tuzwol o yea David And Eddie was there favorite singers they dreamed about singing with them nd it finally happened

  • @mrjoshjones1 Yeah, 'wannabes'. They were and remain one of the top selling acts in rock history. They had seven number one hits and were one of the biggest acts in the world at this time. Ruffin & Kendrick were washed up junkies looking for money so they buy their next fix. Their heyday was long over, ROH status or not. Look at how they died - in poverty and of drug related causes. Get over yourself. LOL

  • White men can't jump or sing/dance like The Temptations!

  • @dongtingwong And you're a racist cunt.

  • Comment removed

  • @MsDiesIrae9 and what is so racist about saying Hall & Oats can't sing or dance like the Temptations? Geeze, you seem a little edgy!

  • Hall & Oates w/ Eddie Kendricks & David Ruffin - The Way You Do The Things You Do/My Girl and

  • love dis n david shared da mic

  • This is sensational! Thanks so much for postin it!

  • gr8 ending gotta luv hall's voice its so 80s

  • Hall is such a bad dancer.

  • It may be from the '80s, but it shows you that '60s nostalgia was BIG back then! A good example of nostalgia within nostalgia.

  • lol @ "nostalgia within nostalgia"

  • @_@`

  • Never seen this before. Love it!

  • First time I've seen this one!
