  • I am trying my hardest to find the closing credits of the NBC's broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I've seen just about every other year of past olympics closing credits...but I really want to see the 2008 one. If anyone, ANYONE every uploads it or finds it somewhere else, please let me know

  • How anyone can compare the NBC or ARD or RAI or CTV or whatever broadcaster's effort to this is beyond me... This is purely fantastic television, and illustrates again that the BBC is, and always has been, the best. Cannot wait for what they'll produce for the big one, 2012, it's going to be emotional.

  • Wonderful melding of sights and sound! Tom Baxter's voice simply does justice to the song. Great editing altogether. Thanks for sharing.

  • I watched the opening ceremony with my father will he was recovering in hospital. little did i know that i would be watching the end of the olimpics, with my dad ready to breath his last. I watched this on tv as i waited on my mum getting ready to come to hospital with me. It brings back all sorts of sad emotions watching it again. But it also helps me cope. Well done bbc.

  • re: sp3animalfunds. I have both, and they are good for different reasons. The NBC one would never show most of the British Athletes, and the music choice on the BBC end credit is simply inspired. Who knew you can take a slow love song and use it with an Olympics end credit?

  • :P yea nbc showcases americans in the olympics and BBC british so from nbc your not going to get much british athletes

  • I was out in Beijing working on the BBC coverage, and I thought this closing montage was a beautiful and moving sequence. Perfectly paced and a great music choice. Makes me proud to be one of the many many names listed on the credits.

  • you should be proud, we bash the beeb too much. Some ppl don't realise what value we get out of it. We should show ppl that run it down this montage. Thanks for your effort and work.

  • This is such a beautiful compilation. it literally sends goosebumps up my arm. Watching the euphoria of the athletes is just so special.

  • wnot work

  • Try another browser or clear your cache...

  • Who is at 1:07?

  • What a fantastic compilation and great accompanying track. Beijing 2008 was amazing and the BBC's coverage was superb. I miss watching the Olympics :(

  • I want to see the BBC Highlights again, they did a compilation of the winners to the music Desree - Kissing you it was fantastic, but removed from the BBC site. Brings a tear to my eye as it's so beautiful!

  • Well we will get a triple dose next year and it will be a great buildup before 2012.

We got the Winter Games just months away, then the Commonwealth Games which are very good

Then it's back to Olympics, Summer style with the first Summer Youth Games in Singapore, which I hope the BBC televise cause it's going to be a landmark event

  • I agree the Olympics take place every 4 years but the events in between are just as good

  • Brilliantly edited and a great song to accompany - shows the raw emotion and passion the olympics bring.. Great upload!

  • Whats the song to the end credits in this video ?

  • It's 'Miracle' by Tom Baxter. It says in the wee grey box on the right of the video

  • I miss the Olympics :(

  • I loved the Beijing Olympics. I wish on youtube people uploaded EVERY minute of EVERY even of the BEST OLYMPICS EVER!! SO I CAN RELIVE IT! I GOT UP EARLY AND FELL ASLEEP IN FRONT OF THE TV I LOVED IT!!!

  • I watch this video every now and then just to give me that lump in the throat that leaves me humbled. the rest of the day gets a bit easier to bear.

  • Best ending credits to anything, ever!

  • I agree. Nothing more needs to be added!

  • In my oppinion, I think it is the best Olympics ever. However, the Opening ceremony from the BBC was far better than the closing ceremony

  • tear jerking :( .. i miss the olympics, come back beijing :(

  • Prooving once more, if proof were needed, that the BBC is the one of the best televison (and radio) broadcasters in the world.

  • I prefer this version of the end of the games beacuse it shows the people who brought it to millions....that will be the same ones in 2012.

Tsk, they better get it right!

  • Sport and broadcasting at its best

  • bbc is the best broadcasting station in the world to bring perfect coverage of the olympic games. Perfect job for 2000,2004 and 2008. Do it again at 2012!

  • Remember watching this at the end of the Olympics.. It really does summed up what the games were about. The song is perfect as well! Class :)

  • Gold.

  • I've seen this at two sports conferences and it absolutely captivates me every time. It's truly inspiring and urges me on every time, the most moving thing I've ever seen, I really have to choke back the tears.

  • is there a video of when the torch went out?

  • I remember watching this at the end of the ceremony, and found it really moving.. the image of Matthias Steiner celebrating at 2:27 in this vid, right on the key change, always moves me to tears. You can just see 4 years of hard work in those few seconds. Thanks so much for the upload.

  • Don't remove this beeb. You did a great job. Let us watch it again.

  • I don't think they'll have it removed from here, BBC are quite nice about their stuff being on here when it promotes their best bits, and this shows that...and they will do even better in 2012. It's scary to think how we can top 'Beijing', but we will!!

  • The BBc did remove it to start with, about 2 weeks after it first appeared - no idea why. I'm so glad it's back, thankyou!!

  • The BBC didn't remove it, the Olympics organisers did before I put in a rebuttal and they dropped the claim.

  • The olympic organisers were bothered about a youtube video? Jesus

  • Finally caught up with the end ceremony coverage tonight and had forgotten how wonderful and moving this song is.

And it's getting a single release - hurray!

Thank you to whoever at the BBC decided to use this as their closing song - the Corporation is much maligned, but when they get it right they're world beaters.

    Derek

  • Thanks a lot Derek. It was me.

  • Well done Jonny!

Keep up the good work synchronising sound and image sublimely.

    Derek
