Ok, that has made me interested. I have heard of Adam Adamant before, but am not entirely sure what its about. This trailer has made me interested again! Also, didn't know it was made by the same people who did Doctor Who! This is fab!
BBC4 showed this first episode recently, following a documentary about it. Production values were no less than early Dr Who, which was not above using long shots of dodgy cities made of cardboard and washing-up liquid bottles. I have the theme in MP3.
It was the later arrival of The Avengers that caused the BBC to cancel Adam Adamant, on account of the former getting far more viewers for ITV. God knows why, because The Avengers was crap. Even then the BBC were playing the stupid ratings game.
"The Avengers" was on air for some years before "Adam Adamant Lives!". "Adam Adamant" is frequently labelled as the BBC's own version of its ITV counterpart, especially as some writers worked on both shows.
The original theme was a 'Goldfinger' knock-off sung by Kathy Kirby, in the manner of Shirley Bassey. That would have made a better soundtrack than Dr Who. Hired the DVD set, bit disappointing. The production values made Dr Who look like Star Trek and Gerald Harper seemed less swashbuckling than swishbuckling.
You're doing a great job, I'm thinking of getting the DVDs just from this preview! The location shots are lots of fun, reminds me of the Hartnell/Troughton era.
Thank you again. The programme is a lot of fun and was made in the same manner as Hartnell/Troughton "Dr Who" (although I get the impression that more money may have been given to "Adam Adamant" as, apart from anything else, some of the location shots for the show were done in Blackpool!).
Thanks for that. I confess that I felt the same about using the "Dr Who" music for non-Who items until I stumbled upon some superb "Captain Scarlet" examples here on YouTube (look them out - they're fantastic!). I am hoping that the use of the "Dr Who" theme (apart from being a brilliant piece of music) will help to bring people's attention to these classic shows - that's what I'm after.
Looking for the name of a TV programme or possibly a film where a wedding dress features.
I have tried to find out what this scene was for over 30 years. A wedding dress in a tall glass case in a corner of a Victorian
old ladies room, she is sitting on a sofa and warns a young girl who is admiring the wedding dress, not to open the case .
But the girl does behind the old lady, and when the air gets inside the dress falls to pieces..
It is NOT Miss Haversham in Great Expectations! help!!

Only spoiled by the music. Surely if you had to use Dr Who then the 60's version would have been more appropriate.

Very good... but please lose the Dr Who music! Why not use the appropriate theme, hmm?

Fear not, for I had considered using the original "Adam Adamant" theme for a compilation (it's just getting around to doing it...).
Best wishes.
