If the description of the aug says activation: Manual, it means (duh!) you have to activate it! I personally look for activation: automatic in all the augs.
@blade0xb At a casual pace, it's about 20 hours. Frozenfoxy is playing a little slower so he might take longer. If you skip side quests, ignore ebooks and don't do much exploring, you can get through in half the time or less.
yea, the silent by itself isnt that useful. but if you get the sprint faster and then turn on silent and cloak, you can easily cross a room very quickly. sometimes before a cell runs out. and if you sprint longer, even better. i personally liked the double takedown. there are more chances than you think. anytime a guard walks by another, and BAM!!! there you go. of course, at the beginning there are soooo many upgrades that would be useful. choices coices.
As this is the second time you've encountered a "dead end vent": If you scan the walls closely, you'll notice cracks in them. If you had the wallbreaking augmentation, you'd be able to clearly spot and bust through these walls.
@2hakkabakka after getting the wallbreaker later in the game, i realized that its actually better to get it early in the game. there are 2 hidden praxis you can only get by breaking the wall (hmmm, not sure if you can use a mine....) so it pays for itself quickly. the first is in detroit and the second is in hengsha. so my next playthrough, i'll get it as soon as i'm in detroit and go punch that wall with the praxis. :D
@mds0014 Try a grenade first. I don't know if it will work, but if it does, you don't need that many grenades to bust open all those walls. If you're going for a pacifist run, beware that at least the wall in Detroit that leads to the elevator shafts, will mean an automatic kill, because you'll automatically break the neck of the gangmember standing behind it.
@2hakkabakka yea, i already found out that jensen will auto kill a guy on the other side of the wall. i think they should have given a choice. the only problem with grenades/mines is that i'd have to know where the breakable walls are and if i have the aug already, then i could just break the wall. why not sell the grenade or use it on a boss. of course, there's plenty of weapons/credits throughout the game. but i wasnt able to upgrade everything. not sure if i missed something or not.
2:55 Shoot one guy and take down another before his buddy hits the ground. Kind of badass, Foxy :)

Don't worry if you pick bad augs, you'll probably have enough praxis to unlock most of them by the end of the game anyway.

i believe that dead end vent leads to the news room. you have to break the wall. its a way around that hack panel door. thats it.
