  • give them a break. this was before the game even came out

  • Yeah. Have Olimar meteor mash MK. Someone who can jump a bunch of times, glide and has a very good b up. Especially when Olimar's recovery is so lacking.

  • u suck dude. if you think you can do better then post a vid of you owning both of them in a team battle gimpy and DSF against you. you would be totally pwned

  • what happened?!

  • Both my best and favorite character, yay,

I've seen other vids with DSF as Olimar and did not do as bad as this, he must of had a bad round. Personally i would say down smash more that is a kick ass move. But great match anyway.

  • what a bad olimar

  • Man, that's some insane comboing there Gimpy. XD

  • It's too bad frustration got to DSF. It would've been another great match.

  • pikmin cruelity call peta! lol

  • Ha, way to gimp olimar.

I'm glad they gave him a crappy recovery. :P

and giving up? that's for lames.

  • ZOMG QUITTARR!

    ^ J/k, Really good match.

  • oh and DSF's quitting, he needs to hear the gimpyfish speech about having the right mindset and how comebacks do infact happen.

  • Ha, I love how gimpy goes out of his way to kill pikmin. I have got to start doing that =P

  • Impressive adaptibility and characters knowledge from Gympyfish. DSF is an excellent player too, this match doesnt reflect its regular skill because he was quite pissed at this point imo.

    Brawl is somewhat cruel actually.

  • i played brawl for the first time tonight and i hafta say.. i had so much fun doing it. yeah there werent the same mechanics like in melee.. but adapting to the new gameplay mechanics is in my opinion what makes a good smash player. i started playing metaknight because of you gimpy... and god he rapes so hard. im usin him in an upcoming tourney here so i can try and win another wii w/ game so i dont have to buy another one

  • LOL LOSER, YOU LEFT.

  • combo at 1:15 finish it with up b :P

  • 00:45

    you....you...YOU KILLED IT!

  • Raped?

You fight well Gimpy; I respect you.

  • thats lame that olimar got ledgeraped like that.

  • hmmm...needs more pikminz XD good match

  • PWNED!!

  • why did he give up?

it was still possible he could have one....

    sigh

  • Search and watch "echo vs karn 4". 2:25.

As you can see, Olimar can, indeed prevent someone from edge-hogging. Olimar doesn't have to wait until the opponent is actually grabbing the ledge to throw a purple Pikmin at them. While the opponent is waiting for Olimar to glide towards the edge, Olimar can preemptively throw a purple Pikmin at the opponent. The Pikmin will slam into the opponent, giving an opportunity for Olimar to grab the edge. This is shown in the aforementioned video with Echo.

  • Also, I just want to make it clear that I don't believe this strategy works 100% of the time in all situations. I'm just trying to show some possibilities that could've been used by this Olimar player in this match. Of course edge-hogging cannot be totally countered. As Gimpy said, this balances Olimar out. However, I want to point out that there is room for improvement, and that edge-hogging is not a 100% guarantee for Olimar's death. There are still possibilities.

  • gimpy, you are not maining in bowser anymore?

  • Haha, there's a reason he's called Gimpy.

  • omg!DSf gave up!he has to think on how he lost so he won`t do that again.was it gimpy`s strategy of using meta kinght`s quick offense attacks?was it gimpy`s ledge-hog tactic that made him give up?was it the pressure of gimpy attacks taking advantage of DSF?if he thinks about those kind of things then DSF will get better with olimar and he will reach his full potential.

  • u cant realy stop the ledge-hogging if you knocked off at the wrong place at the wrong time

  • i know that.but ledge-hogging doesn`t work all the time though.you have to have the right timing to ledge-hog otherwise if you invinciblity frame runs out of time and then if a recovery move that can cause damage hits you on the ledge you will get hit off the ledge and the opponent can take advantage of that.

  • well duh, but characters with just a tether recovery won't even go for the ledge

  • Stop telling Alex(DSF) what to do when you're a nobody

  • i`m not saying that he sucks or anything.i`m sorry if i sounded like i was giving instructions.

  • Wow, you're kind of a dick.

  • Dang that miss on recovery messed up the match for DSF. DSF still could have made a comback though and didn't have to give up.

  • I didn't think people still forfeited in competitive play.

He could have at least tried to turn the match around (DSF)

  • Watchng that video made me feel sorry for olimar. Good match nonetheless.

  • Another thing I want to mention. I noticed that DSF died both times by Gimpyfish's ledge-hog tactic. Again, I believe DSF is a good Olimar-player, but he could have saved himself if he used Echo's method of dealing with ledge-hogging (search "Echo vs Metaknight"). I just can't help but feel like Olimar is not being used to his fullest potential in this match. I can totally understand DSF's frustration.

  • echo's "method of dealing with edge hogging" doesn't work on somebody who actually understands edgehogging in brawl, effective edgehogging doesn't get stopped by that

  • @Gimpyfish62 Don't forget DSF doesn't use all of Metaknight's moves.

  • Looks more to me like DSF timed the rope wrong.

  • in echo's match the mk hogged the edge way too early and ran out of invincibility. there's no "method" to dealing with ledge hogging. its all just changing up your timing, inducing mistakes in your opponent (mindgames). its all you can do really.

  • ^lol

  • Well, I believe dsf is a good Olimar-user, but I don't think he is using Olimar to his full potential. Dsf has a great fighting style, but he seldom uses Pikmin Throw, which is one of Olimar's best skills. In fact, dsf only threw 2 pikmin throughout the entire battle, in this video.

At the same time, I believe dsf is relying too much on his smash attacks to connect, in order to rack up damage. He seldom uses Olimar's personal attacks, like his jabs and running attack.

  • On second look, he's not so much mad as dejected. Metaknight had 3 stocks left to his 1. There's no way he was going to take out all 3 of Gimpy's stocks with his 1. Especially after spending 2 stocks trying to take out Metaknight's 1 stock.

  • wow awesome counter measures against olimar. btw how many invincibility frames do ya get when edge guarding?

  • Gimpy, why don't you end your aerial combos, particularly the multiple up-airs, with up-B or neutral-B? MetaKnight's specials are really useful, and I keep waiting to see people use them effectively.

  • dude, he's getting consistent success with what he does. don't try to fix what ain't broken

  • I wonder that too, but as Gimpy is winning, if it ain't broke, don't fix it ;)

  • fix what? olimar would be almost comletely broken if you couldn't edgehog his tether, and if you do it wrong at all he stage spikes you and you both die

  • Wow... I was pissed just by watching DSF get gimped...

  • Probably really pissed. Being edgehogged twice isn't really nice... I guess... lol.

  • that was so weak

  • OMG...hhahaha poor dsf.....hah...lol go gimpy

  • ....... he had to be pissed to do that in a tournament

  • Olimar quit at the end I lol'd.

  • LOL

Olimar's recovery is far too easy to gimp
