this video bring back some good memberies and good time I had when I was 5 and 7 year old when this show was on tv me and my babysitter always sat down and watch Dark shadow together
My Mom got me loving this show when I was just 5 and now I'm 18. She would watch it EVERYDAY and I'd be like ''ooh, scary" especially the theme song and it became my favorite show. So every time we go swimming in the ocean and I see a huge wave, my sister and I would sing the song. and make the sounds of crashing waves. LOL We'd also compare how big the waves we see to the one in the series' theme.
@shelbydawkins and here it is 45 years later and it still works!!!..after not hearing it for a period of time, hearing it again takes me back to how i felt when i first started watching the show.....
@shelbydawkins, you are AB-SO-LU-TE-LY right! All eight year old children (as I once was) should watch this masterpiece in order to learn what fear is, jajaja!
@Aztexwarrior hard to believe this was 45 years ago..don't wanna make you feel worse, but there's The Flintstones: it's been 51 years since its start..oh, I Love Lucy: 60 YEARS!!...aaaa-mazing....
@Aztexwarrior like music, any number of tv shows and movies, this is something i've watched the better part of 40+ years..doesn't seem like this much time has passed - then, suddenly, it occurs to us how much time has actually passed..kinda a good feeling to have this much time to look back on....where DID it go?!?!?!?......
I once had a friend who was so obsessed with this show it scared me. She missed it one day and I had seen it ,and she asked me to tell her about it. I did, and suddenly I said, "Oh, there's something I forgot." She screamed "Stupid! Stupid!" at me. I told her she shouldn't act like that and she didn't listen and refused to apologize and became very abusive. Needless to say she didn't remain my friend for long.
I'm a second generation Dark Shadows fan (my dad got me into the show). I do prefer subtle horror that this show had than the blood and gore stuff of today. I don't get the whole Twilight thing - I've never read the book series and I wasn't impressed with the first book's trailer. The werewolves of today are badly CGIed - a guy of 5'7'' turns into a werewolf of 6'7"+? The werewolf of Dark Shadows was more believable and scarier.
@geckogurl2u preferred the curse aspect, vampire's in coffins, the sun setting and the coffin lid creaking open - not like today with vampires being portrayed more like sickened, wild animals, 'daywalkers'..sadly, the genre has changed..as a 14-year-old watching DS, i could have sworn i saw Barnabas' fangs GROW!..ah, the good old days of overactive imagination instead of the blood and gore of today...
@geckogurl2u lol, what vampires of today? I think the last real vampire movie was in 1986 Lost Boys. They try to make the vampires of today look like they'd stand in front of the mirror more than chicks, they have no fangs, 180 yrs old still in high school, and lets not forget they're Vegans that twinkle when sunlight hits them..You're right, it's fuckin absolutely ridicules.
@davecarvell We saw that in the sequel to Silence of the Lambs. When you get to see Hannibal Lecter do his thing outside of prison, it becomes just another slasher movie.
Even though this is over forty years old it gives me chills. The darkness of the shots combined with the eerie music just... *shiver* I adore this show so much!
I'm still bitter that this was cut from the end of the House of Frankenstein Horror Wax museum in Lake George. Since the day it opened they played the Dark Shadows theme music as you leave and then abruptly someone decided the song was dated or something so now there's no spooky music to lead you out. I think it was a very stupid idea for them to cut it considering Burton's doing a new movie.
Wondering if that theme song will be featured in "Dark Shadows" starring Johnny Depp, directed by Tim Burton coming to theaters this year?

When "Dark Shadows" went into reruns, I thought that opening with the crashing waves and Collinwood in B&W was videotaped!

Tim Burton this Piano Piece I've written would be perfect for your movie.
It's called Nocturnal.
It's a dark dramatic piano piece.
Check it out on my channel.

True horror! Horror used to be subtle and make your spine tingle. Now they just bludgeon you with gore and screaming.
