  • what does make your skin more sensetive mean does this mean that if I stop using it will get even worse

  • @Ummannisa pleasse NOOO that is waaaay too strong!!! Ask your derm or esthetician before considering any kind of deep peel

  • can someone please tell me; i've googled and found out that glycolic acid aka hydroxyacetic acid is the smallest form of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), did i get that right? xD and as dr. schultz mentioned it is more effective? so for example using a 8% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Gel would be more effective than a 0,025% retin a gel? anybody have any experience with that, i'd love to know :)

  • It's a pleasure listening to you, sir.

  • Do you think it is ok to use a 20 % retinoic acid peel?

  • @RachelGosia You need to minimize the amount of times you shave, or invest in a razor that does not require shaving gel to work. Tell your boyfriend to use Retin-A after he is done shaving, and he should not be using it more than once a day for the first month of treatment.

  • HELP! I got a chemical burn from retin a, what can i do to treat it?

  • im using retin-a-micro for my acne after i apply it em i suppose to wash it off with water or leave it on my skin?

  • you cannot compare retin a to glycolic acid... hands down retin a is much more effective in my opinion

  • hi doctor, is it okay to apply retin-a to your nasolabial fold? i have one on my left side that has gotten very deep, should i apply it here? Thank you.

  • If I'm using retin A at night and benzoyl peroxide in the morning, should I not use salicylic acid any more? I have a toner that has sal. acid in it that I use before my BP, thank you!

  • So how can we get glycolic acid? What forms is glycolic acid available in?

  • Does retin a help reduce under eye wrinkles?

  • @WafaaAkmal yes it can help over time, depending how deep the wrinkles are

  • @WafaaAkmal you should NOT use Retin-A around the eyes, its not an eye cream.

  • hi Dr. Schultz i was just wondering that does the Retin A get rid of red acne scars, because i used to have lot of acne on my face which nearly all of them are scars now and it is quit bad.

  • These videos are so helpful, thank you for posting them. I would love a video about why lips get chapped and dry and how to treat this problem.

  • I was wondering if you use Retin A, how long should you be using it for? I know you can't use it for a prolonged period of time, but how long would you recommend?

  • @DearMeNoUserName couple months, you cant use it couple times a week and expect it to work, you gotta be consistent every day with it, you dont really see results until 2-3 weeks of proper use.

  • I'd use glycolic acid but it burns after you apply it for like 20mins. However, it works better and tends to even out my skin. Acne scars are the worst :-(

  • I started my Renova at every fourth day for a week, then every third day for a week. I still don't use it every day, but I do use a less powerful retinol inclusive moisturizer most days. I think of Retinol as reminding my skin to behave well. I use an 8% AHA once or sometimes twice a week as well.

  • Dear Doctor, I would like to ask you a question: can I combine with my retin-a treatment microdermabrasion? Would it be safe? And what about mesotherapy?

Thank you for your answer in advance.

  • @tinerda 3% glycolic (the most effective AHA) is a great place to start to create cell turnover and to get rid of acne. If not glycolic, then tell me which AHA you are using so I can help you.

  • @tinerda Discouraging active acne and diminishing acne scars are very very different things. There are YouTube videos on surgery for acne scars which you may be interested in. If acne is a current problem, You need 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid instead of the Alpha Hydroxy Acid: Glycolic Acid. Try Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-In-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment to begin an Acne control program and go to the Cosmetics Cop website LEARN tab.

  • What about retinol??

  • Can glycolic acids and Retin A micro be used simultaneously? Such as, alternating nights, not using the 2 products together.

  • @jenGeeJushawshee I use an 8% AHA (no alcohol in my Paula's Choice product) once or twice a week, Renova two or three times a week and a less powerful Retinol inclusive moisturizer most days.

  • But glycolic acid doesn't do anything for fine lines/wrinkles, does it?

  • Nothing is better than Benza-Clin. in my opinion

  • @tessab0o Yes but everyone (including their skin) is unique, and so different medications work better for different people.

  • thanx for a very informative video.. my question is a bit diverted for this topic... Can you please tell us something about under eye cream ... for moisturising/ dark circles / wrinkles ... i have very dry skin .. what components should i look for in a product before making a purchase...

  • @shwetasarawgi82 he already made a video about this a few videos ago, he suggested Regenerist

  • @ElleSmalls but i need something for udereyes specifically... i m using olay regenerist deep hydrating cream from past 1 year religiously... although i love what it does for my face but still i need something extra for eyes..

  • @shwetasarawgi82 I love my Neutrogena Ageless Intensives (Smooth Repair Control) Deep Wrinkle Eye Cream. I use it on the nights I don't pat my Renova over the area where I would surely have crows feet without these products. I'm 58 years old. Renova (Tretinoin) is too strong to use right up to my lower lash line so I use a hydrating serum right around my eyes on the nights I use Renova and pat the Renova over the crows feet free outer corners.

  • @AbbieJolie thanx .. but i m just 28 ... should i be using these products ...??

  • @shwetasarawgi82 At 28 your primary anti-aging goal is great sun protection and even sun avoidance! The Olay Total Effects product sounds like it is made only for women my age and older but there are as many good ingredients in it as in any Olay product and it has more antioxidants than the moisturizer mentioned earlier. Those are always good. If you have a normal to dry skin the 7-in1 product is perfect for anyone at all.

  • @shwetasarawgi82 You have no need for my prescription

Renova, and can wait until you are 40 or seeing the first line of

any sort for the Neutrogena Eye Cream or the Alpha Hydrox

Retinol ResQ. If a Dermatologist prescribes a retinoid for Acne, that's a whole other story. Feel free to send me a message if you like.

  • @shwetasarawgi82 I suggest Total Effects 7-In-1 Anti-Aging Moisturizer, Mature Skin Therapy, which will give you more antioxidants but no retinol again. If you are 40 or over consider Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ for your face every other night.

  • @shwetasarawgi82 We don't need a cream for the undereye area to say "eye" in its title actually, so keep that in mind. IF your undereye area is dryer than the rest of your facial skin (as mine is) then use any great facial moisturizer. You might consider Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum, Fragrance Free or even Osmotics TriCeram. Usually the "eye" creams are the same formulas in smaller packages! You can layer a cream over a serum for dry skin.

  • Is it redundant to use both Retin-A and Glycolic Acid? I've been using both on alternate nights. If they both do the same thing, I'd prefer to eliminate one of them....

  • My doctor prescribed some of this for me because I have fordyce spots on my lips. It didn't work though :(

  • Thank you so much for sending me your videos I'm hooked and you are my inspiration!

  • I heart glycoic! great vid dr.!

  • @ginabinawina99 glycolic even lol

  • hi doc ! is it okay to mix retin a with kojic acid or vitamin c and then use ..is it safe and ok?

    thanks bye

  • Hi Dr. Shultz! One of my favourite beauty shops sells a kit for deep exfoliation with Glycolic acid. Do you think it would be safe to use at home, or should I ask my dermatologist? Thank you for the great tips.

  • jesus in that case I would rather just try getting over what an ugly looker I am

  • Hi, Doctor. What is the difference between Retin A, Glycolic acid, and copper peptides? If I use both Glycolic acid and copper peptides, do I get a similar result as Retin A?

  • Im 28 years old Im using tretinoin 0.1% with hyaluronic acid 0.1% everyday I have mild acne and pigmentation. I use it at night and I'm experiencing a lot of flaking and redness around the chin and nose area. I work at home so its not a problem for me. My aesthetician recommended to use it everyday for the rest of my life. What do you think about that? Does your face stop flaking after it gets used to it for a long period of time? I want to hear your opinion. Thanks.

  • Dr. Schultz will Retin A help with open pores ?

  • i started using rentin-a, and after 4 days i had to stop because it looked and felt as if i had 1st degree burns on my chin... i couldn't even wash my face with water because it burned so much.. the only thing that helped me is Vasalin. i put a good amount of it on the damaged area before i went to sleep and the next morning the burning was gone and so was the redness. now im back to using it, only with smaller amount

  • I got prescribed Retin A because of my acne and i've been using it for a month. I have to say its really improved my skin, although i do still experience some flaking. When you say prolonged used doctor, how long is that?

Thank you very much for the video!

  • I could not agree more with you on the glycolic acid!

That is definitely my exfoliant of choice. Well, that and salicylic acid.

They get the job done and the side effects are far, far fewer.

Great video. I hope this clears up some misconceptions for people.

  • I'm using Retin A for my acnee...and it really works:)

  • @BrendulikZuzulik Benza-clin works better and it's not so harsh on the skin. i was clean in 2 weeks. back, face, neck, chest.

  • @tessab0o do I need a preescriptiong to get it??? thanks...

  • @gracetre123 Depends what country you live in. In the US, a Rx is needed.

  • @BrendulikZuzulik clear*
