  • Dude..I agree...however, open carry numbers are so low, you not shopping there will never the impact you need for them to change. I'm an NRA life member so I certainly support your thoughts on this but just know, you're not going to have an impact. You're better off just going out and getting your CC permit. I live in Washington and it's very easy to obtain. Godspeed.

  • @humbleranger

For the sake of terminology... Washington doesn't have a CC permit, they have a Concealed Pistol License (CPL).

Although it may not have a massive effect now, it's that sort of defeatist attitude of "Well it makes no difference so don't bother trying" that completely kills movements. What if a quarter of the members of the NRA decided "I'm going to open carry, and if a business doesn't like it, they will no longer get my money." Even an eighth of the NRA?

  • @tehbbqlolz Com on kid, you're smarter than that. It's not defeatist to quit banging your head against the brick wall to get to the other side..or to throw the baby out with the bath water as you might be doing here. There's a reason you shop there..now you're not when all you have to do is get a CPL and carry concealed. As a Life NRA member and former Army Ranger who hangs with a lot of NRA members...I'll tell you most will agree with me on this. Drive on, brother..your life, your decision.

  • @humbleranger

Since Costco has a no weapons policy in place, concealed or open, I'll respect it. Their property, their rules. Also, if you read the description, I did get my CPL. I got it mostly for being able to carry loaded in a car, and to have the option of CC when I want. I do a mix of both, but mostly OC. In the two years I've been OCing, I've educated several people. Washington has a large and growing OC community, and the education continues. We are making a difference.

  • @tehbbqlolz I know it's your right, I just don't get why you want to carry open because in my opinion carrying concealed reduces your risk as a potential target. If you're an aggressor, you're going to want to eliminate any obvious threats (I.e. the open carry guy, BEFORE I rob the cash register).

I understand the counter argument that a display of force would reduce the threat, I'm not buying that argument. Especially if you're a civilian.

    CPL Washington (20+ years)

  • @humbleranger

I've heard your argument before, show me any documented instance of it happening and I'll consider it valid. Otherwise, I've yet to hear of it. I have a documented instance of open carry deterring a crime. Since it won't let me post a link in a comment, do a Google search for Kennesaw Waffle House and look for the article on Examiner.com and read it.

  • @tehbbqlolz do what ya want kid...just keep me out of the line of fire. Personally, I respect your right for open carry but also fully believe it's bad for the gun community and that you only add fuel to the fire when you don't need to by getting a lot of people on the gun control side that would not be there if you carried concealed. I know kid, your young and you have a f you attitude to those people but you're also fing the rest of us in the process and I for one don't appreciate it.

  • @humbleranger

There's nothing "f you" about it. Plain and simple, if they don't want me to carry, I won't give them my money, thus the proverbial "slap in the face."

You sound bitter, or like you hold some sort of resentment toward me simply because I open carry and you don't like it. It's not "fing" anyone. If it is, show me proof.

Complacency is the biggest danger to any of our rights. If we are afraid to exercise them out of fear of them being taken, the other guys win.

  • @tehbbqlolz Oh God...kid..spare me. A young bull and an old bull on top of a hill. Down below are a bunch of cows. Young bull says, let's run down and f one of those cows. Old bull says, let's walk down and f'm all.

This has nothing to do with complacency...it's about being smart and wise when picking and choosing your battles.

    Good luck.

  • @humbleranger

Now suppose all the people who say "It makes no difference" decide to open carry? Instead of joining the "It's pointless" mentality, they go for it. Suddenly, there are many more visible, lawfully carried firearms. Think about it... if everyone who thought like you decided to fully support open carry, would it make a difference?

  • hey man i totally agree with you but i don't think open carry is a good idea all the time literally keep it under wraps, two advantages - first your not making people nerovuse (ya i know they shouldn't be in the first place but it happens), second the "bad guy"" has no idea that your ready to give him an armed response know what I mean? -ninja

  • @ninja29mv

You're trying to use the "element of surprise" argument... well, when the shit hits the fan and a guy has a weapon pulled on you, there IS NO element of surprise.

Besides, if I need it, I really don't feel like taking the time to get my shirt/jacket/coat out of the way. I want it five seconds ago.

  • @tehbbqlolz hey man your free to do as your choose thats the beuty of this country just take my opinion only for what it is. i'm glad you carry anyway

  • i legally ccw in fla. and feel much safer knowing that 780,000 others carry here. id rather carry the rest of my life and never need it than not carry and come apon the circumstance where i wasnt armed and needed to defend myself or those with me, better to be judged by twelve than carried by six!!! thank god for the second amendment to our glorious constitution!!! god bless america and may her flag always fly high!!!

  • Have there been situations where armed citizens used guns in self defense? Yes. Many. But thats not what im saying

For every famous shootings, there are hundreds or thousands of smaller homicides that people dobt hear about, especially in gangs in cities.

My position is that although there has been good caused by armed civilians, there have been a LOT more instances where innocent people were killed or injured by bad guys protected by your oppinions.

In MY OPPINION the bad outwieghs the goo

  • Also, it seems incredibly paranoid to always b looking at the door of a bank to make sure nobody bad comes in etc, honestly, y dont u just relax

  • @sirIancarter

Because an occasional glance could just save your life some day. Say your back is turned and you happen to be one of the unlucky 0.01% of people that suddenly gets put in the middle of a robbery or a shooting. Chances are you're screwed. Now say you glanced at the door and saw the guy coming, that one or two seconds gives you time to get out of dodge or get behind cover.

Unfortunately when the 4 Lakewood cops got shot, they weren't paying attention to who was coming in.

  • @tehbbqlolz he's right i mean.... cops are minutes away, but these things happen in seconds.... also the only reason you really call the cops isn't to enforce the law.....,(lol what are they going to do say o hey stop robbing), the reason you call them is because they are an ARMED!!!! response to help you in whats going down, I say take out the middle man so you can handle the situation instead of praying it will be ok -ninja

  • @sirIancarter

paranoid is something that unprepared people say as an insult to prepared people

  • @sirIancarter

PLEASE get on Google and search for The Armed Citizen, when you find the site click the link that says Armed Citizen Stories. There's brief descriptions and links to news stories of citizens defending themselves.

Yeah, sometimes the criminal gets hurt in a defense situation, but I'd rather have that than an innocent law abiding citizen dead.

  • There's been some debate over open vs concealed carry. In a nutshell, both have pros and cons. With open, it's possible that it makes one a target, but it's vastly a deterrent to crime, in my belief. With concealed carry, one won't necessarily be made a target because they're carrying, but someone may decide to confront them, not knowing they can defend themselves. There's also ease of access issues, but they can be overcome with practice. There's also different limits on what can be carried.

  • @tehbbqlolz Continuing...

With concealed carry, I'm limited to a smaller handgun, which in general I don't shoot as well as a full size. With open carry, I can carry a full size handgun. On the flipside, full size handguns weigh more and are more bulky, which pulls down on the belt more. For me, personally, it's not such an issue. For others, it may be.

There's a million ways to carry a gun, just pick whatever suits you best.

  • @tehbbqlolz As I've been thinking about it, concealed vs. open carry, if you're in a community that's one of those places where everybody is carrying openly, you might as well open carry because a few of the disadvantages are negated when EVERYONE is doing it. Like being more of a target. One guy standing ina bank with a gun can be singled out, but 40? Also, that people freak out when they see a gun. Well, anyone like that there has either had a heart attack or left, so I'd say thats negated.

  • Well mutha fucking put I sub"ed

  • better question, why are people pussies and even have guns, if ur ganna get in a fight use ur fists for christ sakes

  • @mattatthome

Because unfortunately the dirtbags in this world use them to wrongfully hurt innocent people. It is in these instances when a gun will be needed to level the playing field between the dirtbag and his intended victim. Unfortunately, like car accidents, we don't know when these assholes will try something. You wear a seatbelt daily in case of a car accident, and I carry a gun daily because I don't know when a violent criminal will happen. I hope to God I never have to use it.

  • @tehbbqlolz even in video games you are supposed to holster that firearm=) I think you should hide your gun. If I see your gun, I can walk up to you and snag it from you. If you hide it- i am none the wiser=)

  • @ballm0use also if you're the wolf robbing a bank... who do you shot first? the guy with a gun on his hip or anyone else in the room?

  • @JAndersonIV

Situational awareness. When I walk into the bank, I scan around and see who's in there. From then on, I keep an eye on the door. If someone walks in and I get a bad feeling, I can step out of line and ready myself.

Also, every bank I go to has their counters to the left when entering the door, so my strong side, and my firearm, are not visible from the door.

  • @tehbbqlolz interesting point about the counters, i never thought about that. i support all types of carry all the time and in all places, just adding to the conversation haha. glad to hear someone else out there is carrying, keep up the good work!

  • @ballm0use

That's assuming you can to it in the first place... Situational awareness + retention training is a good combination.

  • @mattatthome

Besides, I don't go around looking for a fight, I try to avoid them if at all possible. My gun is the last resort in a situation where my life is in immediate danger, and it is to keep me alive to see my family another day.

  • @mattatthome because they dont care about you and or your honor and will use the easiest and most effective way to kill you. guns kill more effective than your fists and criminals usually dont have honor or pride. they use tools to their advantage

  • @mattatthome Because the worthless fucks that walk this planet with intent to do harm to others, don't play fair. Do you think if you walk up to him and say "quit being a pussy and fight me like a man" is gonna make him drop his gun and resort to fisticuffs? I think not. That is why people carry guns. I carry a gun, not because I am afraid to get beat up, I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs, I think I'll be fine. It's to protect myself and others from the bad people in this world that carry guns.

  • @mattatthome because not everyone is equal. you cant tell me a 5'4'' 115lb girl assaulted in a parking lot at night by a 6'4'' 225lb man should use her fists.

  • Costco is anti-gun a few weeks ago there was a shootout. A man who was legally carrying a fire arm was shot by the policy because a stupid employee was terrified by the weapon. You should look it up, I don't remember if it happened in AZ or NV.

  • One question for anyone who feels like replying, whats wrong with concealed carry as you are still armed and still protected and the overly sensitive public doesn't have to know and why not concealed carry even where its not allowed sort of like a consensus objector

  • @tubevideoguy762

If everyone always keeps it hidden, people don't get the fact that good guys carry guns. Most people are oblivious to those who carry concealed, and some are still oblivious when someone is open carrying right in front of them. For me, open versus concealed is mosly a matter of what's practical at the time. If it's 70 degrees outside, I'm not going to roast myself to death with a jacket. If it's rainy, I cover up. There are a couple places I conceal carry only though.

  • Have you seen the latest on the Costco's gun policy and where it got them in a patron being shot in Vegas?

    Boycott Costco.

  • " i left but my mom carried on shopping "

    that showed them huh ?

  • Here's an appropiate way to respond a problem and when words aren't enough and there's no one around to help. Cock, unlock, let the bullets fly, let the good survive, let the evil die.

  • Very good. Only dreamers, tyrants and fools believe that less guns in the hands of good people will give us safer streets.

  • Right on man!

  • please give me leads to stories about concealed carry persons saving the day.

I beleive that a criminal that uses extreme force forfits their life, but by a court.

  • @wcresponder

The Armed Citizen is a good blog with many stories.

  • first step to take over slaves is to unarm them

study history nothing new first disarm then turn them into slave

  • Amen Brotha , keep up the good fight

  • Oh also, you can now walk into any Verizon store carrying. They used to say NO guns and some people fought it and Verizon reversed their rule. COOL!!

  • Good to know, since I have Verizon.

  • ROCK ON DUDE!!!

    NutnFancy KNOWS his stuff!!

  • dude i totally agree with you.i live in va i open carried a couple of times but i even ran into cops doing it n they said nothing at all.evry store ive been in i have had no problems.

  • I gotta say dude, I agree that open carry is a bad idea. Guns scare people. My gf is nervous around my weapons, and that is fine. Some people are not comfortable around guns, and don't they deserve peace? I think so. Besides that, if a bad comes in behind you at the gas station, he will shoot you BEFORE he robs the station.

You ARE perfectly entitled to open carry, but it just causes problems everywhere you go, and you will end up fighting a battle to justify yourself to ppl you meet every day.

  • Who says I have to justify myself? Both the US and Washington state constitution justify it for me. And if more people open carried, would be bad guys would be more deterred. Sure, they may get one person, but they won't get 2 or 3. I was recently at an open carry meetup at a restaurant in a not so favorable part of town, some thuggish dude obviously holding a gun in his pants came up to the window, looked, and got the hell out of dodge. Open carry also helps desensitize people to guns.

  • If I had a GF and she were nervous around or afraid of my guns, she wouldn't be my GF for much longer. :P

Seriously though, sounds like you need to take you GF to the range. People are naturally scared of the unknown. Show her safe firearms handling, teach her how to shoot, or have her take a class. You can't be there 100% of the time to defend her.

Give a man a fish, and you've fed him for a day. TEACH a man to fish, and you've fed him for the rest of his life.

  • @raine697 " a fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity." sigmund freud.

  • people are also scared of young black people, do they deserve peace by asking that black people be banned from their presence?

Same thing with firearms. If they feel they can't have peace, the problem is within their own internal struggle with their own emotions and not the outside object of their unfounded angst. I am not responsible for someone else's fragile emotions and hence shouldn't have my rights infringed upon because of it.

  • @raine697

I managed to catch video of an older man open carrying at the local walmart one day not too long ago. Was the first time I'd seen it around here, even though I know it's legal in this state. Was a good sized pistol, too. Nobody freaked out, his gun didn't jump out of the holster and attack anyone.

People fear what they don't understand. Demystify your guns, help her to understand that they aren't evil beings and they can't do anything to anyone on their own.

  • @CanItAlready

I CALL BS! You mean to tell me it didn't have a mind of its own? It didn't start randomly start shooting people with super accurate ultra deadly laser guided hollow point cop killer bullets? No way man, that's not what CNN told me!

In all seriousness, you have it exactly right. I open carry when it's practical, which happens to be most of the time. A hooded sweatshirt doesn't exactly conceal my rig very well, so if I can go without it, it's OC for me. If it's freezing, I conceal.

  • @raine697

Wasn't enough room to finish my thought.

There are people who are terrified of big dogs. Does that mean people who have big dogs shouldn't be allowed to walk them in public places?

  • I open carry in NC and while I don't have a lot of issues like that they do come up. It's an issue of an uneducated public that causes the question in the first place. If we had an effective National Carry Day in the states where it was legal, it would force the media to address the issue and inform the public that this isn't a crime. How many AR vids have you seen with posts like, "Is it legal to own that gun?" It's just ignorance and we need to educate the public. Frustrating.

  • @LordRuckus i see that all the time on AR vids. i dont know how people can be so diluted by media to assume that an AR is illegal.

  • More power to ya! We have open carry here in Michigan but they will STILL arrest you if you do it.

  • Can't save 'em if I'm never there :P

  • I'm in washington myself, and I figured it would be tough carrying open around here. You've really only had a problem with costco, huh? Costco is CF anyways... good move man.

  • Here's the thing: There's no signs anywhere, they have no written policy about carrying either. The only thing the person had was the company attorney saying that since they were privately owned, they can tell someone to leave for whatever reason. The space in my wallet where the black "Costco Executive Member" card used to be is now occupied by my CPL.

  • I find the businesses that claim to be gun free are actually hypocritical. In Minnesota, where I namely C&Cy, many businesses post signs at only their main entrances, especially my local mall, which makes anti-gun persons feel all warm fuzzy about the signs. However, the law in MN states that signs need to be posed at all entrances and additionally they must verbally inform the patron, as if their going to employ people just to greet and inform all of their customers.... It's a joke.

  • I do think in certain situations its best not to let anyone know you're packing......if they dont know then no harm no foul.....just my 2 cents....

  • @hammerud

There's definitely situations where concealed carry is far better. Maybe there's a place that's unavoidable which doesn't allow firearms even though it's perfectly legal to carry there. Otherwise I have my usual places I visit and they have no problem with open carry, so I do.

  • lolu go shopping with ur mom carrying ur gun lol.. does she let u ride in the shopping cart.. lol just messing with ya

  • For your information, sir:

Yes, she lets me ride in the shopping cart, and sometimes she rides in the cart while I push! =D

  • She apologized for her assistant manager's behavior and said that I was welcome back to the store anytime while carrying.

  • I OCed in North Carolina for 5 years while I was stationed there. I had 2 problems in those five years. One was with a local Wal-Mart when I was approached and asked to leave while buying some milk lol.

RE Sam's Club-Wal-mart Corporate policy is for it's stores to follow the laws in the given state in regards to firearms. Send an e-mail or call corporate in Arkansas and give them the low down.

I was able to send an e-mail and had a response from the local walmart manager in less than 24hr

  • Right on dude. You have a level head on your shoulders. Don't get pissed. Just leave, and don't give them your business. They will wish someone with a gun was there when a thug has a 9 mm screwed into their eye socket and wants whats in the register. I'm in a concealed carry state. I don't let anyone know I carry. I have the element of surprise on my side that way. And I don't get hassled by paranoid business owners. I carry pepper spray too, for non lethal encounters intermediate weapon.5 starz

  • Sometimes I open carry, sometimes I conceal carry. Depends on the day and situation.

  • I'm just glad you carry friend. Good and responsible citizens should be armed, because the bad guys damned sure are. Thanks for the vid.

  • lol, you wish.

  • Well nah nah nah nah nah nah! We got guns and you don't.

  • It should be like the movie Predator 2. The subway scene. Some thugs pester some geek. The geek draws a gun. The bad guys draw a revolver. And then every civie in the subway car draws their handguns. Thugs then check their shit. Its like how Russia and U.S. cancel eachother from going into WW3. If they launch nuclear weapons at us, we launch them back. So we don't do anything to upset the air. If people knew that more normal citizens were armed, they wouldn't dare draw their own guns.

  • Good video. I agree with your message completely.

  • tehbbqlolz, your the man. I also live in WA, and am a CCW holder, but I don't have what it takes to walk around open carry. I just can't deal with the people asking, "why do you need that?" and "is that a gun?" It's bad enough playing Airsoft in the park. So thank you for doing what I cannot.

  • What I don't get is why militarysims has a thank you vets video, yet he's bashing 'gun nuts'

And yes, I agree, I think more shootings happen in gun free zones. I say either CC in said zones (as long as it's not against the law to do so), or just don't go there.

  • Most shootings happen in "Gun free" Zones.

  • For your information, yes I do live with family. I live with my USAF retired grandfather who served in the Korean war and retired a Colonel, and with my mother. I am a college student and I'm damn lucky to have their support as I go through school.

So what's this "trash from a gun nut" business all about? Isn't loving and exercising your rights a good thing? Do our troops not serve and fight to protect ALL of our rights?

  • @militarysims haha....god damn ur a fuckin idiot

  • Let's not sink to his level.

  • Oh and btw, I don't know my biological dad. But I have a kickasstic stepdad that I visit as often as I can.

  • What's wrong living with your parents? I have friends that still live with their cheating wives. Your parents are still your family. If you decide to stick with anybody in your entire life, stick with your family.
