Hey Steve, I just got a phonecall on my cell, and since my current ringtone is Europe's "The Final Countdown", I had a sudden flashback to that being played right before the faceoff which resulted in the tying goal against Russia :P
Tomas Tatar Played Excellent For Slovakia Big Suprise. And I Agree With Thrasher32 McCollum HUUGE Disappointment.Eberle Should Have Been M.V.P Without Him They Wouldn't Of Even Made The Gold Medal GAme
Ok, I was looking at the Leaf's prospects and they impressed me. Chris DiDemenico, Tavares linemate, kept digging for the puck and feeding the more talented players & USA's Jimmy Hayes also was a workhorse in the one game I saw with the USA.
HAHAHAHAHA. you talking about sportmanship? you deserve to fucking die, you dirty jew. filthy fucking canadian. fuck off, you cheap bastards. you would have cried your eyes out if we touched your goalie. and you chopped his fucking legs.
How many times did Markstrom fall down? 5 times? He legitimately fell once, MAYBE twice. Forget hockey he looked like he was competing in the high-dive! And no, we would not have been crying our eyes out if you touch Tokarski, at least not if he was diving like Markstrom! Poor you, Sweden lost, cry me a fucking river you Swedish faggot. I had Canada to lose, but seeing how you Swedes bitch endlessly and attack Canadians for no reason is totally worth losing a bet!
even if that was the case, you played firty. Twice is two times too many. we did touch Torkaski once, and that monkey Subban went apeshit. attack canadians for no reasons? wow. you fucking booed us when we recieved our silver. how classy is that? you booed Hedman for standing up for his team mate (Markström) when Esposito chopped his fucking leg. High stick on Hedman, did you see that one? No call. I hope the referee enjoys his new car. well done, Canada, you won, but you won dirty, again.
You're just bitter. Canada won fair and square. The Esposito thing was an accident as he was chasing after the puck. Then there was no call for the punches to the head. And how about Hedman? He sure recovered quickly from that mortal wound to the mouth! Did you see him digging around his mouth for blood? He couldn't find a droplet! And talk about reffing! Canada spent about half the 2nd period on the Penalty Kill on very questionable calls!
I didn't hear any booing during silver medals. I don't know how things go down in Sweden, but in Canada you boo a guy for headlocking your team's player and punching him, no matter who he plays for or what your team is. Yes Esposito did take out his legs, and Markstrom probably would have fallen anyway, but he oversold it (and was doing that all night) to the point that it's impossible to give him the BOTD. Although it was nice to see Hedman finally get physical.
Furthermore, yes the high-stick was brutal, but IIHF reffing is ALWAYS horrible. I don't think I've seen a World Championship where it wasn't. Therefore, it is expected, and there really isn't much point in bitching about it. Also, what is this "again" business? Last year we won in OT, if there was bad reffing we would have won it in regulation, as Canada's team was better than it is this year, and Sweden's was worse. You just sound like a bitter fucker looking for any excuse possible.
Pk Subban a monkey? Way to bring race into your argument and look like a total fucking idiot. Their were penalties on both sides not called (hedman punched Esposito)and probably could have got a fighting major. Sweden also got more powerplays. Face it Canada came off a very emotional win and played to their potential. It looks like Canada wasn't crapping their pants like predicted. Both very good teams, but Canada won fair and square, quit complaining about the refs and suck it up.
Wow, someone is pissed off they lost to us in the gold medal game TWO YEARS IN A FUCKING ROW!
Take a chill pill, Esposito and Della Rovere did not chop your goalies legs. The run in with Esposito was entirely an accident because they both reached the puck at pretty much the same instant, and Della Rovere was gunning for the puck and Markstrom basically ran into him. Either way you look at it, Markstrom was a little whiner.
@phille22 u suck ass and your whining only because your faggot little team sweden lost 2 years in a row so suck on that shit oh and by the way markstom is a fucking diver u fag if i played for sweden which i dont because i am canadian i would have felt ashamed of my goalie because of the way he fuckin dove so go suck your mom
I think the best player, and don't hate me for this because I AM Canadian and a Leafs fan, has been Jaroslav Janus. His performance on Friday against the USA was amazing
Jordan Eberle, and Jamie Benn have really surprised me, but then of course almost the whole Canadian roster has been really good; Tavares, Subban, Tokarski, etc. Also the twin towers seem to be really good
jemat1, im gonna have to dis agree with you there, allot of people, including me, dont think that tokarski is that good, he's got talent (your right there, he's good lol) but the players I noticed are Tavares (obviosly), Eberle, Boychuk and DiDeminico (A LEAF!), but your right jemat1, tokarski has been "decent"
Cody hodgson has impressed me the most simply because he is performing the way i thought he would be which is a stevie Y like player who in my opinion is going to be the face of the Canucks Franchise for years to come,
this kid probably still the most underrated player in the tourny and hes second to johnny T in scoring with 13 points !!!!
Watch him be captin clucth and carry us through the gold medal game!!!
good question...i've only seen one game(sad i know) it was the canada russia game. i don't really want to say tavares cuz everyone will say tavares but he is quite the force out there and i am thrilled to see him play. maybe eberle he had a wicked game(again the ONE i saw) and i honestly didn't know his name before that game.
Gotta be Tavares he came into this season under mad scrutiny with alot of pressure to be twice the player he was the year before, and not only did he go out and do it, He tied a canadian junior record for most goals in Tournament action In 1 less game then Carter. Hes Proved his leadership and correct me if im wrong but wasnt he the first guy to go after hedman in the exhibition game against sweden?
PK SUBBAN! I think he has been such a great rusher with the puck and I think could next year be one of the highest scoring defenseman, even without a Major shot like guys like Chara and Souray
Tough question there are a few people out there that have come to mind for who impressed me and from Canada I would say Subban and Hogdson but then there is Kana, Janus and even Yankov. I give that kid credit for staying in there after all the shots he was facing and for how much he was being moved around and making stops you wouldn't think he had chances on.
That was only a regular season game. This was gold medal chances on the ropes with under a minute to go. Plus, it's the Rangers. Moment you get Henrik off his game, they are done.
they won in a shootout, so... and also, i believe in 1990, the red wings were down 6-0 to the pens, and earned a tie. BUT, i believe the biggest comeback in history was the 42 Leafs, who were down 3 games to none against the wings in the finals, and came back to win the cup
Hm, I thought you were going to mention Perry's elbow on Giroux after you mentioned Crosby, but alas. Would like to hear your opinion on it though since all the Ducks fans are claiming inconsistencies and crap and the Flyers finally have someone being punished by the league for a cheapshot against them of which there were plenty so far.
Good video but I can't answer your question since I didn't follow the WJC that closely.
there are four who i noticed as standouts. obviously, tavares and thats nuff said bout him. Jaroslav Janus for Slovakia was also terrific, just watch the first 5 minutes of USA v Slovakia. Also Tatar from Slovakia. PK Subban is continuing to be dominant as well (subbanian spinnorama!). If I had to say one other person, it would be Ryan Ellis, looks like he is 14, but he has played brilliantly for canada, especially on the powerplay. and yes, crosby was a baby for what he did.
You think Tokarski is getting the start? There seems to be uhhh dissent? Is that the word I want? Some want Pickard to get the starting, saying Tokarski performance has been terrible. Others don't want to toss in a cold Pickard.
As far as impressing me? Ondrej Roman from the Czech Republic.
I'm not 100% convinced to be honest. That 5th goal by Russia was on the verge of a softy. Maybe a softy. But the problem sits - Pickard? Remember back to the pre-comp game? Pickard played 25 minutes, no goals against. Tokarski played 25, 2 goals against.
jaroslav janus of slovakia really came through when it counted and down goes the U.S... That was most impressive to me. Holy crap he was awesome in that game.
isnt it weird how stempniak was soo good in the bkues but now on the leafs not soo good and bryan mccabe sucked soo much last year and ended with like 23 points and now look at him he has 7 goals already and amost has the same amount as last year he has like 18 points already!
pk subban for sure!! i know i could have said tavares or hodgson, but subban is a force..everytime he touched the puck in overtime he made somthing happen, and as a habs fan im excited...."jordan eberle comes in with some of the fastest hands ive ever seen in the shootout" haha that was class
i think the all star game is a sham and i wont watch it i think ill watch the skills comp tho. that semin fight was so ridiculous. good job on the newbery call up. but i dont think crosby is a baby i was watching the interview and he said that the other guy said yes to a fight i dont think crosby would lie about that...
tatar and the slovakia goalie eberle was great too i expected to see john tavares do good but if canada wins tomorrow there goaltending has to be better and tavares needs to score.. better power play also...
Do you know why I said he cries though? Did you see what he did to Brett McLean for no reason yesterday? Or Valabik last week? I used to respect him, and of course he's skilled, but not in any way deserving of captaincy
Oh man that's funny. No one is denying Crosby's ability to be able to rack up the points. We're calling into question his ability to captain a team and control that whiny temper of his.
Steve Dangle is the player that has most impressed me in the championship : scooping, analysing, commenting, joking and making us laugh.
Of course this player is not perfect to my point of view because he never wears a HABS jersey but at least it leaves a room for improvement...Haha And notice that he has started to wear a red jersey (the cause is not lost...)
I'd never taken the time to see him play, so it was very hard for me to believe all the hype around this guy for the last two years, but after watching him in the world juniors I can clearly say I'm alot more then impressed with his ability and his play.
sorry but for the gold medal game they should put pickard! I don't know why takarski (don't care if thats not how to spell it) let 5 goals in 28 shots, can I say Panic Shooter
As for yer question... I'd have to say Slovaks goalie Janus too and that Tatar(and he's 17 too!) guy, totally surprised by their play at the tournament.
On a side note... what's Sweden's Moeller(sp) been doing :o
As a Caps fan that Semin fight was hilarious! That gave me a great laugh. Good for him though, you gotta stick up for yourself, no matter how silly you look. Even in front of a sold out crowd.
I got to say that after hearing so much about P.K Suban since I'm from Montreal...I never actually saw the guy play, and I'm really suprised of how well he's doing in the tournament.
Except P.K, I'd have to go with Tavares ! Hope they get the gold on Monday !
I already knew Tavares + Hodgson were monsters, and were going to ahve terrific tournaments, so they both haven't really surprised me.
Eberle has really surprised me. He is faster then I really thought, also he has magic mittens.
Jaroslav Janus ( Slovak Goalie ) has been really solid this tournament. Watching some Erie Otters games, for the most part he has been below average. This tournament he has been making great save, after great save.
Great video, if I can throw in my 2 cents on Tokarski, I don't think he's played very well at all (coming from someone who plays goalie).
It seems like he has almost no reaction saves. He's either making blocking saves or desperation saves.
A majority of goals he has allowed have been shots coming down the wing that have gone upstairs and he simply drops down and clearly does not make any effort to raise his gloves to the according side.
I really think that Pogge, Price, and Mason were better
Ah, Janus, that's his name. I correct myself before any of you!
And Steve, if we end up finishing in the lottery and draft Tavares in June, can we expect some bait and switch to get insider info from the locker room? :P
Ryan Ellis would be my choice the perfect player to quarterback their powerplay he knows what he's doing there and did you see that kick play to keep it in that was amazing I really want the leafs to draft this guy Schenn, Ellis the future of the leafs i could live with that
But like I said Tokarski's one of the guys thats implressed me most this year. I was kind of dissapointed in that game against the USA that he lost player of the game for canada to Tavares.
HEs let in goals yes what goalie doesnt but that didnt discourage him. Hes made some very amazing saves at VERY key times and if the team's down he bounces back and we end up winning.
Don't get me wrong, I love Tavares and Boychuck but we knew those guys were going to be two deadly players when we knew they were back on the roster. We seen the Skill these two guys had last year!
I'd have to say P.K. Subban's offensive force while playing defense. The kid is just so gifted talent-wise, it'll be great to see him in the NHL 2-3 years from now.
now i didnt watch the games yesterday. because the chargers were playing against the colts. but the player ive been like WOW for is definetely Jaroslav Janus of Slovakia. That game against the US was awesome.
I'd say either Jamie Benn, Jordan Eberle or John Tavares. Before the WJC has started, I had never heard of Benn, but he's has scored some good goals, got a hattrick if I'm not mistaken. Eberle, for reasons known. Tavares, just because I was skeptical of his skills after dropping off from 72 goals in his rookie season, but he's been fantastic for Canada, and has won me over. You're right, I hope he is NOT a Senator.
Dan Ellis ...just beacuse I didn't expect much from him...but he is impressing me...and like you said before where the Leafs might end up finishing..we could get him :) Subban's offensive rushes have impressed me...sometimes he gets a little to fancy though...still going to be a great player in the NHL
& Della Rovere I love how this guy plays! he may not be suited that well for Internation Hockey beacuse of the way he plays..but he has NHL'er written all over him.
I thnik you mean Ryan Ellis. Dan is the Preds goalie. But yes, he's been a speedy little bugger. Subs is great. I like Della Rovere too, but he lacks discipline sometimes.
first...btw i was watching it at the hard rock cafe at dundas square everyone went wild with that last goal! wow! Juniors > NFL playoffs definately, btw they broke the attendance record
Nice haircut!! LOL

My vote for most epic comeback ever in hockeyhistory is Sweden - Finland WC03 Final
Finland leads with 5-1 and Sweden comes back and wins. Forsberg did a solo-goal out of this world :)

isnt it weird how stempniak was soo good in the bkues but now on the leafs not soo good and bryan mccabe sucked soo much last year and ended with like 23 points and now look at him he has 7 goals already and amost has the same amount as last year he has like 18 points already!
OV71toskala 3 years ago
Team Slovakia impressed me the most more than a single player.
jeanjones9154 3 years ago
pk subban for sure!! i know i could have said tavares or hodgson, but subban is a force..everytime he touched the puck in overtime he made somthing happen, and as a habs fan im excited...."jordan eberle comes in with some of the fastest hands ive ever seen in the shootout" haha that was class

i think the all star game is a sham and i wont watch it i think ill watch the skills comp tho. that semin fight was so ridiculous. good job on the newbery call up. but i dont think crosby is a baby i was watching the interview and he said that the other guy said yes to a fight i dont think crosby would lie about that...

tatar and the slovakia goalie eberle was great too i expected to see john tavares do good but if canada wins tomorrow there goaltending has to be better and tavares needs to score.. better power play also...

buddy if you think crosby crys maybe your right but i really will like to see you score 120 points
jattrulesathockey 3 years ago
Do you know why I said he cries though? Did you see what he did to Brett McLean for no reason yesterday? Or Valabik last week? I used to respect him, and of course he's skilled, but not in any way deserving of captaincy
SteveDangle 3 years ago
Oh man that's funny. No one is denying Crosby's ability to be able to rack up the points. We're calling into question his ability to captain a team and control that whiny temper of his.
Zxceelxuz 3 years ago
Janus from slovakia he is awesome. but Eberle and Tavares for sure for team Canada. and Della Roverre is really physical i like that.
XKaitlanxKillerX 3 years ago
janus and tatar from slovakia, filatov from russia, and eberle from canada. Eberle has been great!

Tavares was the biggest surprise for me.
I'd never taken the time to see him play, so it was very hard for me to believe all the hype around this guy for the last two years, but after watching him in the world juniors I can clearly say I'm alot more then impressed with his ability and his play.

Im going to laugh at you, when Sweden wins gold.
leafsgirl41 3 years ago
sorry but for the gold medal game they should put pickard! I don't know why takarski (don't care if thats not how to spell it) let 5 goals in 28 shots, can I say Panic Shooter
kakashifan666 3 years ago
Jaroslav Janus is clearly the biggest surprise. i mean Slovakia is playing for a bronze because of this man alone.
Captainclark17 3 years ago
Mike Komisarek @ The All Star Game.
Are you kidding me? What a joke.
jef12321 3 years ago
yeah...why komisarek??? you gotta be freakin' kidding me

Hahah funny stuff as usual thanks Steve :)

Even in front of a sold out crowd.
sms1226 3 years ago
Semin, yeah, he....he really uh.... gave us the momentum.

He has provided me with a really good laugh :P

This tournament he has been making great save, after great save.
canucksfaninsurrey 3 years ago
great game 4 team canada!
great game 4 toronto!
and a hilarious fight by semin XD

Great video, if I can throw in my 2 cents on Tokarski, I don't think he's played very well at all (coming from someone who plays goalie).
It seems like he has almost no reaction saves. He's either making blocking saves or desperation saves.
A majority of goals he has allowed have been shots coming down the wing that have gone upstairs and he simply drops down and clearly does not make any effort to raise his gloves to the according side.
I really think that Pogge, Price, and Mason were better
5hahv1r1 3 years ago
Thanks for winning and giving the Sens a better chance at a lower pick in June:)
TStains8 3 years ago
The Slovak goalie, can't remember his name offhand, for pretty much completely stone walling the USA. That was awesome.
Zxceelxuz 3 years ago
Janus. He was great, good call.
SteveDangle 3 years ago
Ah, Janus, that's his name. I correct myself before any of you!
And Steve, if we end up finishing in the lottery and draft Tavares in June, can we expect some bait and switch to get insider info from the locker room? :P
Zxceelxuz 3 years ago
hey Dangle were you loving those ottawa sucks chants as much as I was?!?

not loving them as much as I was in awe of how far the mighty have fallen

Cont...2
PK Subban and Cody Hodgson I could list the wntire roster
With that said there isnt a name on that roster that Im not darm proud to have representing my country!!!
Kate1087 3 years ago
Ryan Ellis would be my choice the perfect player to quarterback their powerplay he knows what he's doing there and did you see that kick play to keep it in that was amazing I really want the leafs to draft this guy Schenn, Ellis the future of the leafs i could live with that
sniperstar 3 years ago
Cont...
Kate1087 3 years ago
Dustin Tokarski
Don't get me wrong, I love Tavares and Boychuck but we knew those guys were going to be two deadly players when we knew they were back on the roster. We seen the Skill these two guys had last year!
Kate1087 3 years ago
I'd have to say P.K. Subban's offensive force while playing defense. The kid is just so gifted talent-wise, it'll be great to see him in the NHL 2-3 years from now.
CrimsonSkorpion 3 years ago
apprently I can't spell cuse I pit "Internation" without the "L" twice...haha
goleafsgo783 3 years ago
Filitov, Tavares, Boychuk, Ellis and Hodgson. Haven't seen much of Hedman yet...hopefully after Monday I won't be impressed...but I doubt it.
carmie1818 3 years ago
yes Ryan...LOL doh!
I agree with you on Della...I just think he has problems ajusting to the Internation Game...but other then that I think he is great.
goleafsgo783 3 years ago
Definitely Jordan Eberle. I want to say Tavares but your asking who SURPRISED me the most, and Tavares - well - we all knew he was good.
Kiks52 3 years ago
now i didnt watch the games yesterday. because the chargers were playing against the colts. but the player ive been like WOW for is definetely Jaroslav Janus of Slovakia. That game against the US was awesome.
iambluchz 3 years ago
I'd say either Jamie Benn, Jordan Eberle or John Tavares. Before the WJC has started, I had never heard of Benn, but he's has scored some good goals, got a hattrick if I'm not mistaken. Eberle, for reasons known. Tavares, just because I was skeptical of his skills after dropping off from 72 goals in his rookie season, but he's been fantastic for Canada, and has won me over. You're right, I hope he is NOT a Senator.
troysmith111111111 3 years ago
i think that filitov or tavares are the 2 best in the tournament it just aches that it ends in a shootout thats just un sport like
kewlnsimpguy 3 years ago
Definitely Tavares. Honourable Mention to Slovaks Jaroslav Janus and Thomas Tatar.
RandomGuy847 3 years ago
Janus stood on his bloody head, you're right.

lmao..the semin fight is hilarious..an easy one for marc staal :P
31phil 3 years ago
Dan Ellis ...just beacuse I didn't expect much from him...but he is impressing me...and like you said before where the Leafs might end up finishing..we could get him :) Subban's offensive rushes have impressed me...sometimes he gets a little to fancy though...still going to be a great player in the NHL
& Della Rovere I love how this guy plays! he may not be suited that well for Internation Hockey beacuse of the way he plays..but he has NHL'er written all over him.
goleafsgo783 3 years ago
I thnik you mean Ryan Ellis. Dan is the Preds goalie. But yes, he's been a speedy little bugger. Subs is great. I like Della Rovere too, but he lacks discipline sometimes.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw Semin "fighting". That's something you see on the playground.
That Canada game was the most intense game I've seen in a while. My heart was POUNDING!! I haven't yelled that loud in a while.
As for the player that has impressed me most it would either be PK Subban or Jordan Eberle.
