The one good thing about Ryan's budget proposal is that it will put a lot of right wingers out of thier jobs and homes. They'll have to move in with the kids who won't have jobs either. Many will die from lack of proper affordable health care. I'm all for that.
Unfortunately Paul Ryan has made it clear he is not running for President. He has three small children and his wife that he puts as his priority... as well he should. He just screams of common sense and would be an ideal presidential candidate. If all in congress worked as hard as he does... our founding fathers would be proud. Being from Wisconsin, I am proud as heck that he's my congressman.
@BlackRepublican2010...I am sure that the Republican party would love to see people of all color join their party. Who in their right mind wouldn't want minorities to adopt/embrace free market principals and individual sovereignty over a Marxists Socialist reform movement in the name of the "Collective"?..............rhetorical ?? by the by.
Rep Ryan you could do it. If you entered the primary i guarantee you'll get the support of the GOP. The criminal element in the republican party would have no choice but to get behind you. You could change everything, for real. Please run and fix the deficit, end the fed, repeal the exec orders, reform health care the right way for everyone as outlined in your plan, re-establish our country's credibility in the world. If not you, than who can you honestly say that could do better. It's U.
@ltkhokie1 You mean the stance of non-intervention? You mean not bankrupting this country by nation-building in the middle east. I'd say his foreign policy is about as common sense as it gets.
@SpecialFester lol yea not going after bin laden and terror groups common sense? Rofl. You can argue Iraq all you want but his stance on afghanistan and other terrorists spells disaster
@ltkhokie1 Actually Afghanistan is a train wreck and that is more than anywhere else is where we shouldn't be, Iraq has always had at least a chance to be a civilized democracy, Afghanistan Always will be a warlords territory in an uncivilized wasteland that is almost impossible to police. All we should do with Afghanistan is burn it to a crisp form airplanes and be done with it. After all, the Soviets couldn't win their and their policies for warfare were a lot more hardball than ours
@SpecialFester Instead of bankrupting us with nation building he is bankrupting us by giving trillions of dollars to Wall Street, bailing out his friends who donated to his campaign, crap and trade legislation, takeover of health care, keeping people dependent on government instead of PUTTING THEM BACK TO WORK.
Actually look at the facts of our foreign policy and you'll learn that he is right about that too. Read Robert Pape's study called, Dying to Win. A study about how our interventionist foreign policies lead to more terrorism.
I don't know of any studies that provide hard evidence that they hate us bc we are free or bc of their twisted religion...if so, let me know...but I look at facts and ignore speculation...you should too...
@Buergs323 Jihads are at war with all "Infidels" regardless of borders or foreign policy. Islam at it's core is a clear and present danger to free people everywhere, not just the US. Robert Pape asserts that socioeconomics are not at play but he is wrong. The organizations may be led by educated ideologues but their terror is carried out by both their intellectual and social lessees, all in the name of Islam.
@Buergs323 You must be joking. The subject has been covered by many media sources. Maybe I'll just assert my opinion based on my actual experience, that good enough for you? ....Start with the suicide bombers of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade. Those carrying out attacks in Israel have been found to be, in addition to being undereducated and poor, "Mentally Challenged" as well. This is all well documented........"My Friend".....
What does them being "mentally challenged" and poor and uneducated prove?
You are the one cracking the joke. This proves absolutely nothing about their motives to attack westernize countries. Religious beliefs provided little motivation for the attacks. In fact, “the strongest motivation is not religion but rather a desire to compel modern democracies to withdraw military forces from territory the terrorists view as their homeland” Hmm...quite contradictory isn't it?
Pape conducted a study in which he collected a record of all 462 terrorist attacks between 1980 and 2004.
Between 1982 and 1986, more than 40 suicide terrorist attacks occurred in Lebanon. However, after the U.S., France and Israel removed their forces from Lebanon, the attacks ceased according to Pape.
Need I explain further?
Okay
Al-Qaida recruitment has skyrocketed since the Iraq War. Hmmm, I thought this “war on terror” was supposed to slow down terrorists? They have grown!
All that sir are facts as at why they attack westernized countries. There are plenty of people in the US and other countries that are undereducated, poor and mentally challenged but I don't see them blowing themselves up...
What you wrote should be embarrassing to anything that is considered thoughtful and engaging. There is NO Proof whatsoever that being those things means they attack the US and other European nations...don't confuse correlation with causation...
@Buergs323 Be nice to know which I should be embarrassed about. So to sum it up, is it your opinion that Jihadist are not motivated by religion? And are of the highest moral, ethical, socioeconomic and educational archetypes? If so, that would be an embarrassing position for sure.
@Buergs323 Hard evidence.......lol you an Judge now? I read other expert opinions fool I don't comprise "Hard Evidence". Since you are so in love with Pape, and believe his opinion to be the gospel, try reading Dr. Yusef Yadgari, Hugh Barlow or Scott Atran, all of which will conclude similarities as well as dissimilarities with your beloved Robert Pape. There is no one study that encompasses the pathology of suicide bombers, justifying my comment . try more than one source in the future.
I do not know how to explain this any better. Proving that the bombers are disabled or sick people proves nothing of motive. Secondly, Barlow's book simply details the history of martyrdom and doesn't explain motivations to attack westernized countries. Atran's study is better, because he does offer some good evidence. But in the end he seems to ride the fence and play it safe by claiming that we should "embrace complexity". He basically says both sides have an argument.
Of course not and don't put words in my mouth. I am simply saying we should probably check our ego at the door and learn what ticks off these suicide bombers. Speculation and straw man arguments claim its their "low socioeconomic" status and educational deficiencies. But that is not causation but its correlation. Those are not facts. The hard evidence suggests its because of our interventionist foreign policy and our support for Israel. Show me a study and I'll look at it. Thanks.
@Buergs323 Your drivel is pointless and inane. Your command of the English language even worse. Let me be clear and concise about your idiotic assertions nonetheless. Length of time Islamic Jihads have been engaging infidels ........15 centuries..............US as a nation with all it's evil foreign policy............just over 2 centuries...........................CLASS DISMISSED! Now bugger off TROLL!
You think you can win an argument by writing like a complete and utter tool? Not a chance.
No one is denying that religion doesn't play a part in suicide bombing. But it's the political motives that allow a rise in recruitment. They attack any country who intervenes on their homeland (Saudi Arabia). Most of these organizations are led by middle to upper class families i.e. Bin Laden and recruitment has skyrocketed and attacks have increased since our invasion of Irag and Afgan.
@Buergs323 Bin Ladin was thrown out of S.A after a failed coup attempt in response to his orders to "Stand Down" while US and coalition forces liberated Kuwait. Don't know where you were going on that point, e.g. Chechens are protecting the "Homeland"? I would be interested in your source however on "Rise in attacks."....Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world so that fact doesn't surprise me. Cited source appreciated.............
Those are things that cannot be ignored or dismissed and it seems our leaders do not give two shits about that side of the argument. They only argue they hate western civilization and when they do...defense contractors pay them accordingly. Lets gtfo and focus on improving our democratic republic and not worry about spreading democracy to other mid east nations.
@Buergs323 Yeah, you're right, we wouldn't want other people around the world to enjoy the freedom and liberties afforded by democracy (representative), in which most here in the US take for granted each and everyday.........I digress.....
A truly free democratic republic doesn't spread freedom through force. Sending tanks and troops into other countries to spread our message of freedom cannot ever be achieved through guns but through example. How long has it taken us to spread democracy in Afghanistan? Oh yeah...it's the longest war in US history. Going into Afghanistan was necessary, but it's naive to think we can spread freedom with bombs and tanks.
@Buergs323 I believe, as many others will, that the war in Vietnam was a tad longer kid, not to mention much more costly than the mid east as a whole over the past 100 years. And I wasn't aware we were there to spread democracy. Democracy is what usually happens when people are free to choose and not subjects of tyranny. Democracy is a byproduct of liberation not the cause.
@Buergs323 Also, I missed the report/article/experiment/study/survey/poll that propagated how angry and spiteful, towards the US, the Iraqi people are that we took care of business with regard to Saddam Husein. I would be interested to read that.....
@Buergs323 Sorry, but I don't see anyone forcing anyone to do anything. I don't know where you get your figures but Muslims have killed more Muslims worldwide than any other human entity in the history of human civilization. All of course, in the name of Islam. Also, you may or may not find this an interesting fact, but voter turnout in Iraq's last election was a greater % per capita than here in our own representative democracy. Now that is "Irony."....but then we forced it upon them right?
But did you happen to read how corrupt that election turned out? What about Afghanistan? The ballot stuffing for Karzai wasn't a sign of trouble? Or the highly corrupt judicial system and their the illicit opium trade being the one economic activity that not only survived, but flourished, during and after the war. It now it accounts for more than half of the country’s GDP and is said to involve corrupt government officials at every level. I guess you just slipped past that I guess.
@Buergs323 I mentioned Iraq only.............And No, I didn't read where Iraq's elections were farcical. Can you forward report/article/experiment/study/survey/poll.......thanks.
The fact of the matter is this: we have been a nation of laws for nearly 2 and a half centuries. Meanwhile, Iraq and Afghanistan live and breathe corruption in their governments. You really expect their governments to cooperate? If they wanted to they would have by now...
Also some of the most corrupt and evil governments have had large "democratic" electoral turnouts...should I list off the dictators that were "democratically elected"? That shows no sign of a true rep democratic
@Buergs323 Only we can do democracy right? But then I would imagine you'd argue anything I post for sake of argument. Your posts along with your "Facts of the matter" need a great deal to be desired. Sorry but it is painful to engage in discourse with you.......hope you can find more faith in people. One thing is for sure....the old ways are quite oppressive/counter productive and quite deadly in many cases. Democracy is new to them, they will iron it out over time in their own interests.
In 5 years or so when or if we get the hell out of there you'll (hopefully) realize how impossible it was.
First of all, a young America had tremendous leaders, speakers, writers that knew and understood true freedom. They wrote the Federalist Papers, they spoke to their community about freedom, and they inspired the colonies to rise up and fight for freedom. No leader in Iraq is doing such a thing. America is a rare breed.
@Buergs323 Sounds like you are in agreement with me with regard to liberation from tyranny. I think you'd be surprised at the number of those that are appreciative towards the US for doing just that. Founders were definitely the brightest and most successful we had to offer, unlike today's congress. Keep in mind that the Federalist papers are just that, they were pushed aside and replaced with "The Bill of Rights" respectively. They only give us context with regard to the Founders' will.
@Buergs323 5 years 10 years 20 years is not the issue. Nothing is impossible to achieve. Only those without sound principles and policy will fail in the proliferation of liberty and freedom. This current administration a case in point. Freedom and liberty costs more than mere words. Our predecessors will attest to that readily.
