  • I've lived in Sedona since 1977 and I can tell you even then Pink Jeep was there taking over the roads. Sedona from when I moved here to now brings tears to my eyes, how so much was plowed over for malls, houses, pavement. Crazy, I'm surprised they haven't torn down the red rocks to put up more crappy shops

  • I personally don't like the pink jeep tours. They hog up all of the trails and act like they own all of Sedona's trails. They preach about the history and beauty of Sedona, but they're only there for the $, just like most of everything else there that has set up business since the early 90's. What Sedona has turned into is a shame.

  • Just wanted to say that I am planning on getting people together in order to have a mass protest outside of Pink Jeep. This will take some time but I am in no way giving up my battle to stand up for the truth and for what is right. If any of you that visit this site are local and wish to protest with me please leave a comment. Tara, if you can gather anyone from the area that might be interested please let me know. This is not over by a long shot. The Wendells think they have won. NOT!

  • Well I agree Tara, Nothing going on, not an offer to meet with my wife and I. Shawn and Karin have no intention of coming out of hiding to say anything. They figure they have tons of money, they can do whatever they want to people. If you have a chance call this company and ask why I am protesting. I did this and they told me, not knowing it was me that I was "a disgruntled ex employee". Could not be further from the truth.

  • two weeks later, and nothing has been resolved..its kind of discouraging to me that this protest and video have been ignored by the owners. maybe they do "win" this time, quentin has to go back to work.

i hope more people will say no to unfair practices, and maybe that will help change things in the future.i do want all pink jeep passengers to know that your driver is REQUIRED to detail the jeep every night and is NOT paid. i think this is illegal,if someone can correct me on this please do so.

  • Well any of you that have been following this story might have noticed that I have not been protesting of late. I want to clarify things. I am a parent that is out of work. I am currently looking for work and this is why I have not been there. This is not over by a long shot. I will be there on and off is resolved. I will be there a few days this week. Thank you to everyone that is standing behind me, it means a lot to my family and I. Special thanks to Tara, your good deeds will pay off :)

  • I also want to say i disagree with the person who thinks PJ should be shut down.. its a large important business in this town and it does lots of things right..but some things need to be better and i believe quentin is right and brave to be out there picketing a wrong done.. lets call it as it is shawn and admit its time to sit down and resolve this.

  • i will admit it does complicate issues that so many great people DO work there. This is not black and white.I was out on schnebley hill road today and a number of pink jeep guides were especially friendly..and i ran into two in the store tonight who were very nice..I think thats one thing i share in common with you gossamer truth, is that i also care about pissing you all off.. i care about the people there and dont want my work to hurt anyone there..

  • The owners might have been within their rights according to laws that protect only employers, but my wife and I apparently have no rights. We are upstanding people and would back anyone that has been done wrong. If you are an employee of Pink Jeep dont worry so much with what im doing. you will have your jobs. Im sure that im not scaring away that much business. Besides im not out there harassing people on the streets. Its their choice whether they take the tours or not. Its still America.

  • People have a right to know the truth.

  • This issue is important because of what Sedona stands for ~ the New Age Spiritual Mecca of the entire United States. Sedona & her residents should be setting the standard for the rest of the United States to follow ~ "Do unto others", & creating "Win/Win" situations. Kudos for standing up for what you Believe in & protesting IS taking responsibility. I have nothing against Pink Jeeps. Its just that if we want a better world, we have to take a stand & treat others the way we want to be treated.

  • I second that.

    Peace

  • I think WE all need to stick together to CREATE the GOoD in this world!! It is about damn time.....isn't it? I wish you ALL the success in the world!!! I'm going to video respond with a money making opportunity that is determined to change the world for BETTER!!! Blessings to you and your family!!!! Loving laughter and contagious peace be yours! I miss Sedona.... it is SO beautiful and powerful!! You HANG in there!! You can create a GOod life there for you and your family!!

  • I like the way you spelled good, i'll remember that.

    Peace

    B

  • It is such an awful feeling to be treated unjustly and feel almost powerless to change it. My NEW belief system is to CREATE a better world NOW. I was payed horribly with no benefits and worked to the BONE as a Nursing assistant asked to do a job in way that provided NO dignity to the elders I was caring for or me. I fought MYSELF hard, and found a way to open my own facility where my elders are well cared for and my caregivers treated fairly.

  • Finding a way to start a competing company that is filled with light/right OR supporting a competing company that treats employees well would empower the light and yourself more effectively. I've been there. continued....

  • Good luck!

  • I think the point here is that he and his wife both had a job that they were satisfied with but were mistreated, along with many others, and our now attempting to fight for change. YET another person of means (Pink Jeep Owner) using his/her power for his/her own gain alone. The company will naturally die out as the lack of light in the company will not sustain it indefinitely! I think informing potential customers of the unjust practices is an action backing righteous anger. continued....

  • Right on!

  • Also let me explain that I am not looking for money in this matter. Its far beyond that. Its just simply the owners coming off their high horse and having some respect for two former hard working employees that did just that work hard. My wife gave countless hours of care to the owners two kids. Not only that she cares. I did the same during my employment with pink jeep, I liked the people that I worked with, but I had fun with my job and worked really hard to give the company a good name.

  • Ok lets get something straight, I am disclosing everything that happened to my wife and I. The owners are missing in action and have yet to say anything about this. I have my termination notice stating the reason for my termination. I am peacefully protesting and not only that I am not bashing anyone, even the owners. I am simply telling the truth and protesting the terminations of both my wife and myself. Its that simple. If you take it personal it becomes your problem.

  • hmm, this is getting interesting, though i notice quentin and i are the only ones willing to disclose our identities, which does make me wonder..heads up, guys, i am thinking of making a one week later video, so you have a chance to state your views and get them heard whatever they are.I'm willing to give camera time to people on the other side of the issue so if interested send me an email through you tube.. id even be willing to blur your face and make you anonymous at your request.

  • This is the internet. They warn you against revealing your identity for a reason.

I'm also especially loath to share my identity with someone who is under emotional duress and who I may piss off, if I haven't already.

I fail to see why you would expect any of us to disclose our identities to participate in an argument.

  • You are under no pressure to reveal your identity. Please feel free to participate in the discussions. This is a matter that is being dealt with in a peaceful matter. I deal with my protesting in the same fashion. Open, Honest, and open minded to those who disagree. You will not make me mad. So feel free to join in. :)

  • Also Gossamer Truths I was not the one talking about revealing identities. Please refer to the previous posts. I respect privacy.

  • I understand that you're not pressuring anybody, but Tara mentions it every time she comments.

  • Yeah, He got fired for no reason....Why doesn't he take some personal responsibility and tell the whole story. He's obviously leaving something out...

  • There is no personal responsibility to take. If that were the case my protesting would be useless. I have never been terminated before from any job ever, same with my wife. I am not preventing the owners of this company from telling their side of the story. People that ask me about things on the street get the whole truth. The situation was not complicated. It was just really stupid and my wife and I lost our jobs because of it.

  • Yeah right... He got fired for no reason!!! How about he takes some personal responsibility and tells the whole story. I'm sure some of it is missing. You have got to be kidding me....

  • Dear GossamerTruths maybe I have and thats why I can make the call.Remember he's not the first and probably won't be the last. I am fully staffed and have had the same staff with me for several years. They stay because they are paid and treated very well, otherwise I would hire him. I do agree that picketing does take time away from looking for a job in a town that has few jobs to offer and sadly enough "job in this town means Just Over Broke" which is why I pay so much more. Grocery fund doner?

  • Dear Cynfog....Once again thank you for sharing but I noticed you did not jump on board to contribute to the family grocery fund??? If you and your co-workers are "so sorry this happened" consider contributing. I will be opening it at Safeway in West Sedona. Take a walk in your fired workers shoes for just one moment and go to the store to buy food without money.....So out of the goodness of your heart, donate! Then everyone gets blessed!!!!!

  • I don't want to sound harsh hear, but maybe you haven't heard the entire story enough to make any calls as to whether anyone has been mistreated.

Furthermore, if you're a business owner, why don't you hire him? Looking for a job around the area is tough and can take a long time. Protesting is going to take a good deal of time away from looking for a means to support his family.

  • Please keep in mind it does not matter if any of us agree or disagree with each other....It is pointless to waste time disputing comments. There is no right or wrong to how each of us feels, they are all valid to the person feeling them and expressing them. I would be more than happy to start a grocery fund until they find gainful employment...Anyone else on board?????

  • Dear Cyanfog, Thanks for sharing :) The employees ARE humans, that is not the issue. You stated: a lot of earnest and hard-working individuals would lose a much needed source of income??? Isn't this what just happened to this family. Re-evalute your options, there are wonderful places to work in Sedona that pay so much more and actually respect their staff....Companies that actually walk their talk....It is quite refreshing compared to verbal abuse and an unhealthy work environment.

  • I think that we are agreeing to disagree here. I feel that Pink Jeep is a wonderful place to work. I have never experienced any verbal abuse at Pink Jeep, and believe me I have recieved it before. I also believe it to be healthy and enriching work environment. I feel secure here, and do not think that anything will be gained by villifying the company. I do not think this protest will shut Pink Jeep down, but I am going to defend a company that treats and pays me well.

  • I have to say, you are missing the point. I liked working at pink jeep. as the matter of fact loved it. Its not you or any other person at pink jeep. You guys were all great. This has to do with mixing personal issues aside of work with issues at work. I had no issues at work. I liked everyone there and had nothing but respect for each and everyone there. My wife and I had a personal dispute regrading some things that had nothing to do with Pink Jeep. We defended ourselves and were terminated.

  • Cont"d...Just because we don't say anything does not mean we are not aware of their behavior. WE SUPPORT YOUR PICKETING!!!! It is very clear they are not used to someone standing up for themselves. Get a lawyer and take them down and run them out of town!Yes, we live in a right to work state but there are discriminating circumstances that will allow you to sue. It is very clear you have some...God bless!!!!!

  • I disagree with you. The owners of Pink Jeep are not scum. I believe that Pink has a lot of class, and the company is not a huge conglomerate. If Pink Jeep were to be shut down, and "run out of town" a lot of earnest and hard-working individuals would lose a much needed source of income. I would also like to point out that a lot of our customer come to Sedona specifically for our tour, and probably patronize your business. The owners are human beings, as are all the employees.

  • I am a Sedona resident and I am quite fed up with these out of state conglomerates who have moved in over the years and taken over Sedona from the local mom and pops. There is no charm left and they bring NO CLASS to this beautiful town! Pink Jeep Tours is lower than scum (not the employees) but the owners. They are not human beings. As an owner of a business in Sedona, I ALWAYS direct visitors to other tour services due to there inhumane treatment of employees as do most Sedona Merchants.

  • I agree also that there are a lot of great people working at pink jeep. Many of them I considered to be friends. That has not changed one bit. Yes I am out on the streets doing what most are too scared to do, but I mean no disrespect to my former co-workers. I would hate to hear that anyone there had to deal with what i am dealing with and having kids involved is the worst part. Remember it was not only Dad that lost his job it was also mom. My kids depend on us to provide. Jobs dont come easy

  • Thank you so much for doing this and for supporting fellow employees. We are all very happy that you are chasing our business away. I have had many truly awful jobs, and Pink Jeep Tours will never be on this list.

We all felt pity and understanding before the protest, but it is fast turning bitter as time wears on. We are truly sorry this happened, but this protest does not help anyone.

  • Amazing how one can be so selfish about a situation based on the fact that one gets his or her paycheck signed by the person who is acting not only unethically but inhumane. Wise up, if it can happen to my wife and I, it can happen to anyone. As I have said I do not want to be out there protesting but I have an obligation to my family and friends to stick up for what is right. This was obviously wrong regardless if you say so or not. Facts do not lie. Tell the owner about it, he is to blame.

  • I may be being selfish, but I don't think your behaviour is less so. Both of us are motivated by money. I really do feel for your wife and children, but I simply do not understand how this picketing benifits anyone. I am not saying what was done to you is or is not wrong, and I understand very well that any job is tenuous. I do however feel that you should not claim to be doing this for your former peers. Picketing one small company will not change Arizona law and isn't going to help us.

  • first off, thanks for interacting, even though you disagree and are also anonymous, i think its a good thing that you are engaging.

if you are really losing money and being impacted personally, then instead of blaming quentin you might look at WHY he is doing this. i must agree with quentin when he says tell the owner, maybe you should let him know you'd like to see this resolved.

  • As the person who's entire family was fired from this company I have to say that first of all that I don't want to stand across the street picketing, but someone has got to stand up to the cold of heart. They no what they did was not only unethical but it was also without cause. My wife and I did nothing but provide these people with hard work and appreciation in return for employment. The Right to Work laws are unconstitutional and this is a good case to be made to prove that. Say No to Pink

  • id like to invite all viewers , particularly employees of PJ, what ever their views, to add their comments and thoughts to this video. could it be time to say what you think?

  • i made this video because i believe that quentin was unfairly mistreated, and i hope the wendalls will reevaluate his case, as well as the issues of requiring employees to do unpaid work.

that said, i also think there are good things about this company and many of its employees are great people. sometimes things need to come to light to be heard and my sincere hope is that this protest and video ultimately help all employees of pink jeep.

  • why i made this video: im a former pink jeep tour guide as well. i was not fired, but left because i was unable to drive all day in 105 degree heat of the summer, and because i felt that the fact the drivers are required to detail( not just wash) a jeep every night at the end of a very long day and NOT get paid for it, to be wrong. most drivers i knew complained constantly but felt unable to voice their real concerns because they would be fired for speaking out.
