In what type of situations would a ambulance use only the lights?

@quatlen. when i drive lights only, its either b/c i have a pt. (patient) or family member riding with us that is freaking out, a siren will just make it worse, or when it's late at night in a heavily residential area and there are no cars around me.

on the other hand, there are also some ppl that drive by just tapping the "manual" button on the siren when they need it (and since traffic is moving well here they leave it alone); i personally don't do this but my co-workers sometimes do

its an unmarked nypd car come on theyre not going to help move traffic...but a marked rmp will def move traffic for any emt or paramedic in a bus that is running lights n sirens...even for none 911 ambulances...too bad st. vincents is having some financial problems
