  • I have honestly never heard this version until now, I had only heard the Alison Kraus version. Honestly, I love both versions. I dig the whistle!

  • gotta say im a huge Alison Krauss fan!!!... but your version is very cool!! well done well done!!

  • Bravo man.Bravo.

  • I think you have the only version of this tune on youtube that isn't a cover of that awful watered down Alison Kraus version. Great job here.

  • @jccoldtime23 Thanks, i agree with you about Alison Kraus version, i hate it too and didn't include it in my post on "The Lazy Farmer boy" variations.I play also the version included in the Antholgy. The one i play here i learned from Pete Seeger.

  • i love this song, awesome

  • Beautiful!

I usually sing this ballad unaccompanied, after the version on the Harry Smith collection.

I love what you did with the banjo and whistle.

    Strumelia

  • Thanks, i also love the version on the Anthology (by the way, i have a blog dedicated to the Harry Smith Anthology, it's called "The Old, Weird America")....

  • what tuning are you in here?

  • Regular G tuning (gDGBD) The song alternates between G major and E minor so it's relatively easy to play.

  • super chanson; très belle interprétation. bravo! je la met dans mes favoris.

    salutations,

    Jean

  • Pete Seeger has some amazing stuff. Great job! I like the added whistle.
