@Amandalark your doubt is absolutely right, my grandma puts on the soundtrack sometimes when im over... gotta run out to the pickup and grab the real stuff cause there just aint nuthin like it!
@AmandaLark He does it pretty good. Although his singing is nothing like Cash's, i honestly think Cash would enjoy it. For the budget they had, it was fantastic.
Version two had a fella by the name of Red Kerdnal (I believe that was his last name) on the steel guitar. It one of a few to my knowledge of Cash songs that have a steel guitar on it.
ive been memorizing his songs since i watched walk the line...old joquain doesnt make it but it sure put it ma head...ive been playing that boy named sue for as long as a year an i still cant figure the awesomeness...R.I.P mate...you rock
The second version is a lot slower, I think. And it was A.P. "Red" Kernodle who played pedal steel guitar on it. And here we have Luther playing the sharp solos!
Actually, his songwriting was pretty revolutionary, especially in the 50's. Think about Walk the Line, which has no chorus, or the intricate rhyme scheme of Come In Stranger.
His voice had authority. It is a subtle thing - listen to Tommy Cash sing, then listen Johnny. Somehow it just isn't the same. He's the Abraham Lincoln of American music.
amazing version... where did this come froM?

I still haven't seen the bio flick but I seriously doubt that Joaquin could capture the grit, the warmth, the brilliance that was Johnny Cash...
AmandaLark 1 year ago
@AmandaLark its a good film, but obviously no1 could play johnny, although he picked joaquin himself, so he mustve thought something of him

he wasnt the greatest singer of all time, he wasnt the best guitar player ever. his music wasnt all that revolutionary.
what made Johnny Cash so special?
i dont know, but their aint a day goes by i dont have one of his songs in my head.
even June Carter wasnt the greatest singer. why do i love seing them on stage together and enjoy every song they preformed?
Johnny's is probably the greatest musician of our century. because he meant what he said, and said what he felt. he lived life fully.
