  • Did anyone notice the trumpet player that looks like Ron Jeremy?

  • Man, oh man, as if Rocco's bass and Emilio's growl weren't enough to do it for ya, then that sweet little s-t-r-e-t-c-h @ 'night club' ought to! One of the best songs ever....

  • Russ don´t have the TOP Groove... Garibaldi rules.

  • My particular reply to this particular vid is this...notice how it slows down...and then speeds up...that kind of thing...I kind of like that...

  • i saw the 2004 reunion with rocco and dave at bb kings in nyc it was smoking man!!!!!

  • This band sounds good, but nobody, and I mean nobody can play funk like Dave Garibaldi.

  • is there a speed change in the chorus? ... cause if it is, it's genius

  • Just remember.... If you got the dough the liquor will flow !

  • BUMP CITY, BUMP CITY.......SAW THEM LIVE AT BUMP CITY

  • What the F*** happens to the tempo after just a few bars? Drops to almost almost half the tempo!

  • That is one tight horn section!

  • I WAS discharged from the u.s.m.c dec.1971. I REMEMBER seeing TOP ON dON kIRCHNERS ROCK CONCERT. i was completely blown away by the funkiest group of musical misfits i'd ever layed my eyes on. Pickets sax playing combined with his unbelievable steppin had me dancing my ass off KUDOS AND long live TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree TOP doesnt sound TOP without David Garibaldi and Franci Rocco Prestia . where's the groove ????

  • Terry, What I'm talkin' 'bout!

  • Met them in their heyday and they ROCKED!

  • The funk starts with TOP Legendary Band. My wife and I are going to funk heaven. TOP and AWB at House of Blues AC NJ.

  • If I feel like looking super cool,I play this in my car loud

  • TOP forever! Down to the Nightclub! I'm 22 and been listening to them since I was born!

  • The "Tower" has always made the Bay Area proud.

    Five Stars!!!

  • @MCGEHEE1 -- Honey, we love them on the East Coast too...believe it...

    That's WHAT IS HIP. lol

  • bump de-bump de-bump! git it!!

  • I just dont think TOP are complete without BOTH Rocco and Garibaldi

  • I believe most TOP fans would agree with you. But the original comments here seemed to be about the TOP horn section

For what it's worth, I think that if you replace the (surely) unique way in which Rocco and Garibaldi (and I would also include Chester Thompson) interacted and contributed to the overall sound then you will obviously create a different listening experience.

But the arrangements are so good that TOP still sound great - even though the rhythm section has changed.

    ....Whatever.

    Bob

  • @bobfunk11 Great clip and a great version. Probably the best vocal I've heard on this tune.. Seriously..

  • @MeenGMeenie I gotta add Lenny P. to this list.

  • Great clip, but I don't see Lee Thornburg.

  • he's there Bud

  • I'm either thick or blind! I see a trombone stand, but no trombonist!!

  • Lee is the lead trumpet player with the long hair. t-bone is only used like Mick Gillette used it. sparingly

  • Thanks for clearing that up!

  • Long hair/mustache?!? Get a clue!

  • lol xDDDDDDDDDD!!!

  • What's wrong with that?

  • When you're right, you're right. One of the best horn sections in the business. But, the overall sound is just not the same. They are better now with D. Chambers.

  • This would be better if Bruce, Dave or any of the members of TOP were in it.

  • So what band were Emilio Castillo - tenor sax - founder and band-leader; Stephen 'Doc' Kupka - baritone sax; Greg Adams - trumpet & flugelhorn; Rocco Prestia - bass, in then, The F**ing Monkeys?

    Bob

  • dont forget David Garribaldi in your rant sir!

  • He's not on this clip

    Bob

  • Check them out now. They are both there!

  • Kings of Funk...by far the best funk band ever.

  • WOW. Spectacular Video- love this tune

Thanks so much for sharing this!

  • They play fucking good! They're the Gods of groove

  • Look at the freakin people just standing there!!!

    What the Hell ??

Seen them here in Nashville, in a little club. It was out of control. The crowd was so damn loud and wild, they played dang near two hours longer.

    Great time.

Ace Of Clubs, was the name of the place.

    Loved It.

  • Emilio Castillo has been so good for so long. That's as a writer and a musician. This is the best version of this song since

Rick Stevens did it in the early 70s.

  • Who is white Cat's don't have soul! well maybe the ones(Exec types) that just do the contracts lol.

  • Damn this is such a cool song! But tough to play on trumpet though

  • It's not that bad as ToP charts go.

  • It's the only ToP I've played so I wouldn't know.

  • Oh man. I played lead in a ToP cover band a couple years back. What Is Hip seriously has the hardest lead trumpet part I've ever seen.

  • Cool man:D

  • this songs awesome, my jazz bands playing this and im playing trumpet on it

  • It is awesome indeed:D

  • The best tower lineup..sans Lenny Pickett,Lenny Williams, David Garibaldi and Chester Thompson. I saw the original lineup many times in the early 70's!!

  • Hell yea! Not this is horrible by any means its just not the same, it seems like it is missing a ingredient

  • Wow! This reminds me of when my mom used to take me to Bumpershoot in Seattle in the 80's to see TOP! Your still a young man, A lil knowledge, Funkfize

  • Thank you very much for posting this video and the others from the early 90's. This gives me fond memories of the TOP when I was high school.
