Not a bad idea. There are green wire nuts with a hole through the top of them for one ground to be exposed for a devise. same concept as what you are doing. Using them or or any wire nut for that matter does add cost to the over all job when on a larger project. I like the fact of looking out for the next person having to work on it. (not that it will happen much if ever). On service work we pigtail all the wires. New construction work the numbers are too tight for it to be done.
i like to splice and pigtail the ground. Makes it a lot easier if you ever have to go back into the box esp for the guy that comes after you. . more professional in my opinion
The wire nut method works good. As a contractor I look for ways to cut costs. When an electrician is taught correctly and becomes proficient at using his tools and hands the ground crimps are more cost effective. Thanks for the input.
What I do is twist the two grounds together, bend one gound back, cut the other ground and throw a wire nut on it. Beats the hell out of having to carry a ground crimp.
