The original artist said that it is about his friend who died and an organ of hers went to save a baby. Hence "the confusion that was hers belongs now to the baby down the hall." People seem to have a lot of interpretations on the meaning so I decided to clear it for you all

I mean you have to understand, i saw Live, well live, four times and this is one of my all time favorite bands, and people think their stuff is easy to cover and it's not, because Ed K is such a story teller with his voice and the band they just help bring it on home.
