@caltrask51 I'll pose this question to my more musically qualified friends on my Facebook site 'The Beverly Sills Crazies'. As soon as I have a reply I'll copy and paste it to you. Thank you for your great comment!:-))
A bit different to the studio recording and I missed the trills, but still stunningly beautiful and yes, Ronizetti, poignant and touching the depths of one's soul.
@MrAndredekock that studio recording ranks (for me) as one of the top 5 most perfect recordings by a female ever. it was done in 1968 or 69 right? still trills or no trills, who ever could not only sing so perfectly but, as you put it, poignantly.
@Tsunade3Sannin Yes it was recorded in June 1968 and I would put that recording at the pinnacle of ALL belcanto recordings! From a technical point of view that recording was a model lesson in perfect singing, with the ornamentation clearly articulated and perfectly musically shaped. Interpretively it is FAR MORE: Ms Sills gives a lesson in how to conceive long phrases, filling them with expressive intensity with an immaculate legato line and varying the volume perfectly. Brava!
Absolute perfection!! Love the live version. What exactly is the top note at 3:39??

@caltrask51
That's a Hight E flat.
Also, this in not from Paris 1971. She didn't sing "O quante volte" there.
This is the etherial version she sang in Cologne 1-29-67 for a German Radio concert broadcast.
