3G S, you can activate it on 3.0 easily in a slider

Settings>General>Usage

iPhone 3G with 3.0 BY DEFAULT; as in, clean install from an unjailbroken firmware...will not display it.

If you had a jailbroken device and only updated to 3.0; there have been reports of that aspect carrying through to the 3.0 update. In the BETA versions of 3.0 the option was there; and it is accessible via jailbreak/file changes for 3G.

People crying foul saying their 3G is mystical and can perform 20 times better then the 3GS. Sorry but there's proof in all these videos and in the specs. It comes as a feature on the 3GS, if you want it on the 1st gen, and regular 3G, you gona want to install SBSETTINGS from Cydia, your gona notice its not an Icon, you swipe the top of the phone and it will open another screen, hit extras, hit battery %, and there you go. quiete simple. hope that helps.
