  • Joan Hickson was the best Miss Marple ever.

Who could be better English old lady than she were?

  • i hate the show, love the theme, what is it called?????

  • The Miss Marple picked by Dame Agatha while Joan was still too young to play the role. Christie was right.

  • This just took me back to my childhood and watching round my Grandmother's in the 80s, Nemesis, that one about the murder on the train, the body in the library with the recorded gunshot.

  • joan was da best plus she looks like a white version of my granma so there

  • to my mind Joan Hickson is the best and always will be the best Miss Marple, David Suchet will always be the best hercule poirot and Jeremy Brett will always be the best Sherlock Holmes. I've watched these three actors do these parts from very young, now I'm 18 and other actors are no where as good in comparison to me

  • @bungee1342 I totally agree. And I study miss Marple. (Joan Hickson.) I plan to be like her! :)

  • It's not Margaret Rutherford, therefore not the best, sorry.

  • Classic Sundat night viewing - Joan Hickson was a true portrayal

  • The best Miss Marple adaptations ever. The lead (Joan Hickson) was definitive, the direction and tone of the shows were pitch-perfect, the humour sparing and dark, the incidental score absolutely nailed it.

And topped off with that glorious theme tune; sunday night TV heaven! So glad for the repeats. Nemesis is my favourite one.

  • Joan Hickson was a best and the most famous Mis Marple

  • wow great music, puts a tear in my eye

  • Thanks for posting. So long since I heard this...

  • @stephenlowrey1 yes aren't you just

  • @alfiesgirluk No no! Sorry you've misunderstood! When I said 'what a load of old shit', I meant the programme itself, not me! It was derivative and dull - and Joan was sadly the most boring portrayal of a rather poor character anyway. Sorry if I did not make that clear!

  • Did anybody notice the name Trudy Styler in the credits? For those of you who don't know, that's Sting's ladywife!

  • i like this serie!

    oh!

  • i think this is the best miss marpel ever.............why do they have to keep remakin classics...............there is loads of new and exciting new crime dramas out there.................do one of those for a change..............

  • I have the whole series on video (dated, I know) and the period details in the episodes and the music make it a wonderful BBC production. Joan Hickson was a great actress and she was - Miss Marple.

  • I have to agree that Ms. Hickson was the definitive Marple and that theme music most appropriate to the character: charming, sharp, and oh, so very, very British!!!!

  • The music is very good and funny.

  • can you please tell me the title and composer of this music.thank you.

  • Ken Howard

  • Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley

  • i think joan hickson was the best and always will be and i often watch my marple videos. i played this on an old piano in a restaurant before my meal in rural france one night but it didn't impress, i played it too loud and passionate

  • Totally agree

  • Me too spot on!!

  • This is when the BBC made good quality programmes.

  • where can you download the miss marple theme tune

  • I wanna know aswell

  • At last I made this for piano solo version.

    Come to my box~~!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Sounds...british and grandeur~

Sooner or later I'll try this for piano solo~!

  • Joan Hickson was the best Miss Marple

  • @Michael574 you are right, the best!!!

  • One character referes to Marple as a "dangerous cat" In murder at the vicarage.

  • love it!

  • this is really a British theme

    Siegfried

    from Germany

  • "There is a difference what do you mean, while you murder my language" is not a grammatical sentence. Perhaps not surprising from someone named 'Gavin', however.

  • Perhaps you would like to explain the gramatical error.

I think the error occurs between the ending of the tag ",there is a difference" and "What do you mean?" Do is meant to be in the present rather than the past tense, perhaps the 'while' adverbial clause sounds better in the present continious "while you are murdering" but the present simple form is still correct.

I'm happy to discuss grammar with you, but please use linguistic terms so that I can evaluate your comments.

  • Surely his name reflects the stupidity of his

    parents?

  • Great theme! Does anyone know where Ican get it? I know there was a cd released but it is out of print :( Thanks!

  • i am looking for it too!
