Advantages of a gas fridge is it uses less electricity. When I was a kid, my parents had an egg business that they got along when buying a house. It had electric light bulbs but was powered by propane.
The advantages are that it can be used in areas where there is no electricity. And, in the case of my parents' egg business, when people would go from store to store for item to item, it basically kept the room warm in the winter.
@soulrebel2006 They are selling these things and not designing them. On the whole, they would probably less expensive than the modern electric ones. As I recall, they were lit from below and a blue flame about three inches shot out. I believe it is a compressed gas in the coils evaporating and then needing to be burned off. On the whole, this is not an item that the general public will buy but for them to stock it and keep it for those that DO need it gets my approval.
@soulrebel2006 Approval and respect for devoting floor space and time to a very interesting product that has a niche market. They're not designed for beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think they're quite nice looking.
They're designed for those who want to keep their food from spoiling. I have no idea what the cost of these things are but I can tell you whatever it is, it's worth it if you're somewhere without power, it's a hot summer and you want a cold, frosty Coke.
