  • Old video FX ;) I got a 80's gizmo from a TV station who can freeze a frame in B/W, lumakey it and overlay it (as a title/logo). Best of all, this device uses no CPU or microcontroller at all - just digital 74-series TTL logic, analog parts and a DRAM!

  • Interesting. We had an ADDA VIP years ago at station in west Texas. It was a piece of junk. I liked their still stores though. The VIP we had used to shift gradually over 28 minutes on vector scope, then you had to turn it off, then back on, reset your chroma phase and continue building your effect. We lived with that POS until the early 90's.

  • Yes the PRC was actually like a proc amp.

    I started on the VW-1, and VW-2.

Moved over to the ESP-C still store series,

then back for the AC-20 TBC series, the PRC,

and the final VW-3 before they closed in '85.

Funny, their 2-D DVE, the VIP, never took off.

Worked for Abekas after that, even bigger and badder old stuff.

  • I actually worked on TBC's and Field/Frame Synchs at ADDA.

    Interesting to see this.....

  • Thanks for the commit! You were around (ADDA) back then? This was real breakthrough stuff ...and very expensive, for what, 10 effects- push, dissolve and cut! I remember the speeds were in frames. I hooked it up to the Sony 5850/ 5800 combo.
