  • All the years I listened to this song as a kid I never knew that Zally was imitating Holwin' Wolf with those "whooohooos".

  • Love those double bass drums!

  • There was no such thing as 'metal' when this was recorded. Its what the LS called Jugband Music. This band was a true original. They invented their own form of music. Like Zal said ' We didnt copy anyone, when you heard us, you knew it was the Spoonful'.

  • if you go to a site called imeem you can get audio tracks of lovin spoonful and john sebastian songs that havent seen the light of day in here .

  • @ipolson simply not true. It just was not categorized and demographied and sold that way at the time. It has always existed, just not in the white bread form you hear today> sorry but we can argue but I can back it up with thousands of musical instances which spawned 'metal' before Metallica inc. It's a state of mind, not a marketed concept. Bye.

  • @freqazoidiak: I meant it in reference to us fans at the time. I grew up playing and listening to all sorts of music in the 60's and, at the time, 65-66, I never heard anyone (including the music press) break down popular music in to the genres you have today. Yes, there was jazz, blues, country. But within 'popular' (pop) music, the 'sub-genres' came in around 67. My reference to them inventing their own style/sound comes direct from an interview with Zal I have.

  • @freqazoidiak:Also, I didnt mean they invented jugband music (separate statement). To me, the early LS is derived from the original mountain music. A lot of the 'genres' like 'metal' etc are coined by fans and the press. Most musicians dont categorize music into 'genres' anyway. BB King once said, 'what is rock and roll ? - its blues speeded up', he's right. Its all based on I-IV-V (as is 'metal'). To me , its either clever and inventive or not, irrespective of what so-called 'genre' it is.

  • One of the best tracks from Hums of the Lovin Spoonful, but most of the tracks are awesome. It's one of my favorite albums ever. Great job with this.

  • hehe, don't know if it's supposed to me but this songs hillarious ^_^

  • Another great Heavy Metal song from LS who eat little gurls!

  • This is not metal!
