  • FINALLY someone gets it right about John Cale!

  • she SO wants him!! haha, the way she is biting her lip all the time, touches him a few times through the song, the way she looks at him, and how she smiles and raises her eyebrows when he sings the line 'she tied him to her kitchen chair' yeah, she wants to tie him to her kitchen chair, lolol. not saying that i wouldnt, cause i totally would ;P

  • @chrissy111nic Only fags want this ugly man bitch

  • I'm not much a religiouse person....((screaming atheist..)) but something about Tim Minchin singing this makes me happy. :') so beautiful

  • fuck this man can sing, what an awesome voice.

  • I love the guy groaning and saying, "You've got to be kidding me." Great song!

  • I find that woman highly annoying.

  • 81 people are totally clueless...

  • Wow. How can I have this version in mp3? Has it been released...?

  • @zolapoe I mean, besides just downloading and converting this video itself.

  • can you cll me a taxi, ive just come

  • @FIDDY87 I thought it was just me, his voice just gets in my bones or something.

  • @FIDDY87 me too, hahaha, how fucking awesome is he

  • Really love him :D. I wish I could be him!

  • Tim Minchin, you are fucking amazing

  • she is wasted!!!!

  • @DrHornyDude So is he. And they manage to be this amazing anyway...GODS I hope I can be this good someday. <3

  • 81 people never learned how to shoot at someone who outdrew them and ended up taking an arrow in the knee instead.

  • Every now and then I poke my head over hear for a bit of a listen. Periodically I read the comments after I've been uplifted and amazed. Every time I look I'm bought back down to earth by the whiny posts about Geraldine Quinn. Can all of you whiners get a grip and enjoy the experience. Someone managed to capture a beautiful moment on camera: revel in it.

  • @rock1rock2rock Not really.....

  • Tim Minchin is a god (he'd love that!) - As for women singing this song, I dunno, I think KD Lang does a pretty amazing job too :)

  • Not many things make me cry.....except anything that involves bee's....but this, lets just say my 3 year old cousin looks like a hard-ass compared to me after I watched this.

  • Dudes what are you talking about?! Chick sucks? She has a great voice, and she sings it very well! Both of them are, and i think this is a great duet!

  • beautiful is the best way I know how to describe this one, nothing better than a pub setting with patrons, fans and friends surrounding you and oh yea a good pint of ale helps to set the stage even better. way to go guys, you should do more together

  • id love to hear a tim solo version even though this is great :)

  • Shutup woman I want to listen to Tim! I cried. It was beautiful. And oh the irony. 'Hallelujah' anyone? ;)

  • They are both fantastic singers.

  • The chick sucks.

  • I agree with RustyOwnage. I hear a lot of women trying too hard with this song. Tim just takes it perfectly.

  • @overcoatcanestophat It really isn't being sexist.

To me, this song doesn't sound right with a woman's voice. I think it only sounds good if a guy sings it. In this case it wasn't great because the both of them were just having a little fun and yea, they probably were a little drunk.

It's just like there are songs that should only be sung by women.

I'll repeat the fact that I'm NOT sexist, although I won't defend myself any further with you. If it doesn't sound good, it doesn't sound good...

  • @Sophix0mp I'm a chick, wanna bet I can make this song sound good?

  • @rock1rock2rock Are you a regular chick? or one of those running across the Country every year, going to Auditions for "talent"-shows, gettin' rejected every time and STILL going to be returning the following year? "well there obviously must have been a mistake, how could they possibly think I suck??" just stick to beeing a Legend in your own mind, at least you seem to be great at that.

  • Haha I love watching drunk people :) My god their both bloody amazing!

  • 3> 3> 3> TIMM

    who is SHE?

  • tim was purely angelic in his melancholy tones....his facial expressions added a level of brilliance....she needed to shut the hell up....i get you have a voice but what song was she singing, she excluded any macabre emotion from her singing....

  • I loved how Tim did this, it was magical. Then she started singing, and it seemed like she wanted to show off her voice calethenics than actualy get into the song. Kinda broke the mood. (yes you're an awesone singer, but you actualy have to feel the song, not preform an octave any chance you get.)

  • Tim did great - girl couldn't keep with his pitch.

If she toned it down woulda' been better.

  • This is NOT sexist comment: Women should not sing this song.

When guys sing a meaningful song like this, they mostly don't go all over the place with their voices - in this case, Tim was having fun, so fair play to him.

But woman ruin these kinda songs by insisting they have to "add" to the song with stupidly holding a work for longer and then going all over the place with the pitch.

In my eyes, it ruins the feel of the song. And doesn't sound like it was MEANT to sound.

    @RustyOwnage Agreed

  • @Sophix0mp Yes that is a sexist comment, wheather or not she sang it well or whatever

u just Generalised that all womencan't sing that song Properly. Yes she might or ruined this song but thats exactly the point SHE as in geraldine quinn might of ruined this song all women.

And plus i think shes drunk...

  • @Sophix0mp I disagree.

I think the reason the comment sounds sexist is 1.) you said "[women] have to "add" to the song." Guys do too, I'm sure. 2.) you said "when guys sing ... this, they mostly don't." By generalizing like that, yeah, that's sexist.

I think the reason it sounds good to u w/only a guy singing is bc it was originally sung by a guy, and the song is nostalgic. The memories and feelings that u and many others have w/classics like this blind u 2 other artistic possibilities.

  • @Sophix0mp But I want to say that I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Either you like it or you don't; your feelings can't be wrong, I don't think. I do think it's wrong to prescribe a sex into a singing style, though. Regardless of what trends you've noticed, saying that someone will do something a certain way based on their sex is the definition of sexism, barring biological differences, of course. There's no way around that.

  • @TheFanwindow It wasn't meant to be taken as sexist.....but I see you're point......it can't exactly NOT be taken to be sexist....

On the other hand.....I'm surprised people didn't kick up a fuss about it to be honest. lol.

It's nice to actually find people that can see things from more than one point of view =]

  • god. shouting much, gal? luv ya tim!

  • and just think, he's got even better since <3

  • wow she doesnt half try to make it a competition does she!

  • I don't think Geraldine Quinn has much of a perception for this song. It's meant to be heartfelt and then a lift. She just shouts it throughout. I would have liked to hear Tim Minchin on his own with this one.

  • I just love the "you're fucking kidding me" at 1:03

  • Is it wrong to obsess about this guy as much as I do?

  • It is so depressing... i sooo so so much want to go and see this guy live but i live in the middle of nowhere and my parents and friends don't exactly share my obsession for tim so thats me stuffed:'( mas

  • his voice is almost perfect for this song.

i think the girl is trying too hard

  • 2of2 2. Yes I would love to here just Tim sing this song... BIG BIG fan, On the other hand I would love to here Geraldine Quinn sing this song as well, she put a spin on her part that was so incredible, she made it sound like the blues, her voice was so full of soul just amazing! More than anything would love to have Geraldine and Tim record this song and release it!!! Oh and yes Tim singing gave me chills and week at the knees!!!

  • 1of2 This is to all the people who did not listen to this clip very well. 1. To quote Tim " this is a song written by Lenard Cohen, ripped off by Jeff Buckley"... (sarcastically stated)( laughter in back ground... ) "who drowned prematurely cuz he's a wanker" Listen again people, it sounds to me that he liked the man

  • Well it's better than Alexandra Burke's fucking travesty.

  • A beautiful voice so suited for this song, I just so wish Tim (and Geraldine) would record this properly, it's amazing.

  • I treasure every harmony, lyric, emotion, and awkward moment of this video. Words cannot describe how immaculate this version of Hallelujah is. Best one. By far. No doubts.

  • I love him!!

  • awsome

  • Tim would make a great duo with Kurt Nilsen amazing voices of both

  • Dear Tim Minchin, please record this song!!!! Quite possibly the very best version of this song I have heard!! You Rock!!

  • Can Tim re do this without that thing in it?

  • @ThePSDroid grow up

  • She still sounds better that Alexandra Burke

  • drunk peoples.. ;D

  • Fucking hell. This man..

  • this was tim's song over shadowed by that anoying woman

  • @shazNteina doh..

  • she looks drunk as hell! and I don't like the way she sang that song either ;/

  • HELL YA TIM! SING A DEEP SONG WILE UR DRUNK!

  • OMG they are fucking drunk... I love it :P

  • she climaxes because of Tim's awesomeness in the middle

  • why does he drink beer when he's in a winebar?!

  • Drunk guy at 5:37. What a beautiful man.

  • no giggs

  • Tim Minchin IS a music God. But Gerry Quinn is the revelation here. Just such a powerful voice - so much so that Tim has to (very amusingly) cheat to compte at one point. And so much stage charisma. AND the sex appeal - though I suspect that is a side effect of her having a raging clit-boner for Tim...

  • 1:01 YOU FUCKIN KIDDING FTW!

  • What the hell? Tim Nailed it. She Dug it back up and killed it!

  • She might be singing the right words, but that ain't the tune. Sorry love.

  • when is he goin to release an album, I'd ACTUALLY buy his stuff ( and I dont buy music ;))

  • Is no one else seeing the guy in the bottom left?

  • He seems to be happy when he is singing, and that's what i like the most.

  • im was definitely rufus wainright

  • SOUNDTRACK TO MY LIFE

  • How come they never show stuff like this on TV....

  • this is one of the most amazing versions of this song i have ever heard! i am a die hard tim fan, but i have to say i disagree with all the haters for geraldine quinn, i think she has an amazing voice! it's quite an unusual tone, she has a great range and both their styles compliment each other so well in this piece. plus you can see how passionate they both are about the music (esp when they grab each other at the end lol), so i think they're an amazing duet, hope to see more of them together!

  • @terracegirl12 This song is really made for blokes, it doesnt work when a Woman sings it no matter how good their voice. Just my opinion :)

  • @Hawkeye19821 I agree, leona lewis ruined this song

  • @TheSolidJake it wasnt leona dumbass it was alexandra burke

  • @this1is1anfield who the hell cares? :L they still killed it

  • @this1is1anfield Same person. Shitty Black Female singers. I dont fuck with names

  • @terracegirl12 I agree you are spot on, awesome performance by both Tim and Geraldine, unnecessary criticism by others.

  • this lady, tries to hard, which makes her singing worse and doesn't know the words :(

  • @NerdyDaffy You don't have to believe in Santa Clause to enjoy Christmas, nor do you have to be religious to enjoy religious music.

  • I love his voice, it's amazing, he's beautiful. And his eyes, holy motherfuck'n cheeseballs!!!!

  • @ttfnrsvpasap colored contactlenses =)

  • Am I the only one who thinks that it's a bit absurd that the great Atheist Tim Minchin sings a song that (in Hebrew) called "Praise God"?

  • During the Hallelujah's I think Geraldine Quinn kind of ruined it for me, she should have just sang the verse but the song was amazing :)

  • drunk of his ass and Tim Minchin is still an amazing singer.

  • Lovin the guy in the bottom left.

  • Someone gag that whooping fool!

  • Also, whomever commented on the dude that said "You have to be fucking kidding me?" I had the same thought when it started. :P It's cool.

  • Seriously love this guy, I can't wait to meet him, if i ever do.

  • I watched this because of Minchin, but I love the song after hearing him play it. Amazing.

  • awesome song :)

  • what ever shitface said 'you're fucking kidding me' at the beggining of the video and keeps shouting out need to die!

  • @Euanbuddie Careful now, that might have been the uploader of this video.

  • @Omnilegence meh, still don't give him the right to shout out stuff XD

  • @Euanbuddie He was probably just surprised and excited at the choice of song. I might have done the same :)

  • he really is very good

  • Especially at 00:15. Please help this confused soul.

  • Listen to the guitar intro, it sounds a lot like a song I once heard. Up to like 00:21. Could anybody tell me what it is, i've been wracking my brain for ages and cannot figure it out.

  • just great, one of the best performances of any song i've everer heard. i dicovered tim recently and the more i see the more i like and apreciate what he does

also he's kinda hot in a mad hatter tim burtonish way

  • this is a triumph for the gingers.

  • Hahahahaha

  • love him!!!

  • I had the privilege of seeing Tim do this song solo during an encore at his June 2011 Portland, Oregon show. If you ever, ever, ever have the opportunity to see Tim live, do. He's phenomenal, and he will leave you with goosebumps with his mere presence.

  • I like Tim's singing much more, that that women's :D.. She is singing completely another song with the same words only but melody is.... :D

  • @ANDREW007CZ : She's singing a second voice. And I think it's awesome. He's really well performing the first one so she took on the second one and so their performances are incomparable. You can only tell it works together in pretty awesome way.

  • No one touches this world 'cause of god. He could sing anything and it would have the same impact. This song is only made more special 'cause he's atheist. =)

  • I <3 Tim I want to marry him and set up a nest in his hair to live in iand listen to his thoughts all day.

  • 5:13 - 5:16 or whatever, wow. so good.

  • Too bad there isn't a studio version of this duet. Of all the great covers and takes on this song.... these two take it. And thats coming from a Buckley fan.

  • Shiver down my spine. I'll never have too many listens to this song, in whatever version.

Tim he seems to have it all going for him -- musicality, voice, humor, and a sharp wit. Awesome to hear him do this one.

  • @gtp77 I wasn't talking about the original. I was talking about the version in Shrek.

  • I love the way this song has so many ways to be sung and be able to convey a range of emotions.

But this version by Tim is by far my favourite

  • uh it was rufus wainright

  • @XxBtsyxX It's Rufus Wainright in the soundtrack but the actual version in the film is John Cale. You can tell if you watch that scene and then listen to both versions.

  • @Nostawyn @XxBtsyxX

it was cohen originally. credit the man

  • @Nostawyn Ok thanx for enlightening me, i did not know that :)

  • They are SO wasted. Love them though. <3

  • I saw Tim live in DC a few weeks ago, and this song was his second encore, and it was amazing. And as he said, he likes making an audience of 95% atheists finish the night by singing Hallelujah.

  • @Colbhi I was there too. He is absolutely fantastic!!!

  • I love this performance, but I don't know what's up with all those people commenting on how awesome it is for an atheist to sing such an amazing version of this song. Did anyone ever claim this was a religious song in any way?

  • @AnnaParva its a little obvious, if you look up the lyrics, you'll see that there are a lot of biblical references

  • @daretodreamdaretofly I thought I'd already replied to your comment, but I guess I didn't get around to it and then forgot... I noticed the biblical references, as they seemed pretty obvious to me. But in my opinion, religious references alone don't make this a religious song. I guess it depends on your definition of "religious". I'm sorry if my previous comment came across as sounding arrogant or anything like that.

Let's just all enjoy the music. ;)

  • Ahahahaha they are so wasted!!

Loved it, though, both have amazing voices:)

  • Shrek!

  • 5:18...one word Goose Pimples....

    OK 2 words....

  • best ever version of this great song

  • I had a smile on my face until he called Jeff Buckley a wanker..

  • Most beautiful thing ever heard? I think, yes!

  • This is good, but dude, don't be dissin' Jeff Buckley.

  • Is she the wife who takes it up the bum?

  • sorry..she sux

  • @MIROJZR Compared to Tim Minchin?...Yes. Yes she does.

  • Holy crap, that was seriously badass and I wish I was there to see it in person.

  • Sometimes I wish he recorded seriously but then I remember that what makes him Tim Minchin

  • I think the fact that both of them are pissed out of their heads makes this performance so much better since they both appear to be really enjoying it

  • @sikirr no you are not.

  • They must have banged after this show.

  • @JAWZxz its shaged lol

  • @DarkSnP I find it quite ironic how you don't know how to spell shagged.

  • @JAWZxz i find that i cant spell good ever xD

  • No no no, it was Rufus Wainwright.

  • Tim Minchin awesome as always but whats up with this other chick....I hate it when ppl with really powerful voices sing covers because it never sounds like the actual song. If it wasnt for Tim I would of been like wtf....

  • @hypeer12 the point of a cover is to make it seem like your own, rather than creating a carbon copy of the original. The reason I (and many others) like this version of this track so much is because they made it sound so unique.

  • 5:35 Blonde girl running scared.

  • Whew, I need a cigarette

  • It's kinda funny how the second most "thumbed up" comment is about playing Tim Minchin's songs in heaven... when he's an atheist who dislikes anything to do with religion or God... I can TOTALLY see God playing 10 foot C**k and a few hundred Virgins day and night >.<

  • @resolutesamurai Its kinda funny how the second most thumbed up comment is one about the previous holder of the spot.

  • @SuperSmashyfication ROFL yeah huh?

  • @resolutesamurai I think he actually LOVES the subject of religion and god..

Just don't practice, follow, or believe.

  • @resolutesamurai any religion whose god plays time minchin all the time would have signed up to be their bloody pope!

  • @resolutesamurai any religion whose god plays time minchin all the time would have me signed up to be their bloody pope!

  • @Papped1710 he doesnt wanna be a pope, listen to the pope song

  • 5:15 - the end - nom

  • The best version of this was when he played in Chicago on the 18th of June, 2011. No joke. It was the second encore, and it had the entire venue quiet and listening intently. He poured so much more emotion into it. I'll admit a couple tears cos he knocked it out of the park!!

  • @ja0401 He was state side and I didn't know? Maaan, I need to stop being so busy.

  • wow

  • The guy in the audience that's like "you're fucking kidding me" Shut the fuck up!
