  • AHHH Steve is sooo amazingly HOT :S

  • Neil kept the "Santana" accent.

  • I am not sure if it just the light or my crappy eyesight... but Gregg looked like he had terrible dark circles under his eyes. Poor baby must have been partying too much and sleeping too little. And I am sure he loved every minute of it, LOL, rock and roll lifestyle.

  • @HMACDONALD69 Yea I noticed the dark circles as well.....probably, as you're right, from the partyin'.

  • No shortage of white pants in the Journey dressing room in the 70's. They are so damn cute!

  • i would still do him, SP

  • Oh man this is awesome! Steve in those white pants and black vest....delicious! His hair is so shiny and gorgeous! I wish I wasn't 10 years old or I would have been at that concert!

  • That's some big hair Neil Schon

  • Wonderful, thanks Mariet2

  • god he was hot and sexy !!

  • gregg orangebud?

  • Steve Perry Is AWESOME!!!!!! :)

  • Schon is stoned.

  • Schon's a tool.

  • they will never get those crowds like that again.journey 78-96

  • Christ this is amazing! This is the kind of Journey footage I've been looking for for years! Thank you for sharing it Mariet2!

  • Steve Perry is not coming back. Stop bitching about it and move on.

  • Wonder why Schon had that fake sounding accent. Maybe he picked it up from Santana. Odd.

  • @KnqsX He was only 3 or 4 years out of Santana at this point so the Vato accent was still wtih him from hanging around with those guys.

  • @metamorphosis67 Neil's "vato" like you said, accent and doing wat he wannadoo when he wanna doo et is hilarious!

  • @metamorphosis67 I used to skateboard with Neal @ 10 He had a speach impediment, and still does! I personally never liked him, but I have to say he is a genius musically!

  • @MegaRubbersoul You played it wrong my brother! Ya missed a big opportunity there to get sloppy seconds from a major rock star with more groupies than he can possibly handle. Sloppy 2nds or even 3rds from a rock star's harem are usually supermodels compared to most people's wives & girlfriends. Especially a group like Journey that all the women were into because of the ballads & Steve Perry & all that crap. You could have roadied for him & had yourself quite a party!!

  • @metamorphosis67 That's disgusting! These people are no different physically than you or me! I want sloopy 2nd's from some drugged out wench? Your mistaken sir! If I did, I could go to a truck stop and get the same thing from a lot lizard!

  • @pat45068 please, tell me that the concert was only journey, please tell me what happened because I have to do something with that information

    tell me about that experience.

  • @marco64galrza It was July 8th 1978 and the Stones were on their, "Some Girls," tour. I can say i was much of a Journey fan because. like most of the people there they came to see the Stones play...When Journey came out they were well received and I thought they played really well. The crowd in front towards the end of their set got really rowdy and started throwing stuff on the stage while Journey was playing, I gained respect for Journey because of that. They kept playing and didn't miss a beat

  • @marco64galrza one last thing. When Perry is saying, "Either they like you for who you are they don't." in this video that is what he was talking about the people in front were obnoxious but Journey played right through it. It made me like Journey more because of it.

  • Truly on of the greatest singer of our time, and one of the most underrated bands of our time.

  • Check out the girl in the gold shirt at 2:06 token feverishly on that joint (or roach)....too funny! Late 70's rock was great....then freakin disco yuk!

  • I'm ready to get off and play with Steve lol... READY set to GO!

The new journey does suck... It will NEVER be the same without "THE VOICE" Steve Perry.

    Journey~Steve Perry on!

  • Look at all those people.I wonder what Steve thought the very first time he sang in front of that many people.

  • @beanierene Poor guy was probably praying he had clean underwear back stage.

  • @beanierene Hey beanie weenie! He probably thought WOW THIS IS FAROUT MAN!!!

  • hahah schon spoke like a hippie hahaha

  • Amazing and historical.... the best line up this band ever had. Aynsley Dunbar on drums!

  • 70's Rock Rulez and will always rule !!!!!

  • dang look at all those people

  • What people???

Oh those people! lol Sorry, I was too busy watching sexy Steve xXx

  • Magnum, I've had to strap a bucket under my chin to catch the drool lol under my chin isnt the only place that needs a bucket lol mop and bucket any1?

    *stands up and says*

"hi, my name is Irisheyes and I'm a Perryholic" xXx

  • Neals hair reminds me of Hairbear, from the Hairbear Bunch. Great to see the guys backstage . Wish i had been there. Thanks for posting. Hey whats this your saying about the English! Some of us are ok, i am. Lynda

  • Lmao Lynda, I use to love the Hairbear Bunch!

Loving Steve those tight white jeans *drool* I'm obsessed with his sexy wee bum hehehe :o) X

  • No interview with Aynsley? (Don't tell anyone there's an English guy in the band....)

  • Aynsley was drunk most of the time,,,,thats why he was replaced.

  • There is nothing cooler than Neals 70s fro....nothing.

  • @bluzcat007 ...Right on Bro... every time I see it I say the same thing. LOL... it's funny to see but its cool as shit.

  • how old is he now, anyone?

  • If you are asking about Steve Perry, He was born January 22, 1949. Just turned 60. And still looking great. Love you Steve.

  • OK THANKS.

  • this is the journey i remember ,they will never have the same success as they did with steve perry.now they just suck its sad

  • i have never been able to do that sucessfully, besides Let him live his own life (my opinion)

  • Excellent! Love this! Thanks so much for posting this footage! Journey ROCKS...and Gregg Rolie is YUMMY!!! :)

  • I remember seeing them 1 week later at the mississippi river jam in davenport with another new band called van halen and they all backed up the doobie brothers.

  • He's not bald, your bald

  • Wow Great Footage! Thanks For Posting!!!Sure miss those days!

  • is this california jam II or another festival?

I think Perry voice is really very overrated...

  • i think your overrated!

  • LOL I think Ross Valory was perpetually high.

Steve Perry is sexy as always. Yum.

  • @mistifers He smoked two joints when he played video games (Space Invaders,1978 pre-Asteroids) & at every ten thousand points (lyrics from the superior original Toyes version from Dr Demento's 30th anniversary cd).

  • We, the fans, dont want to see such a talent wasted!! Bring Steve back by signing the Steve Perry Sing Again petition. Go to petitiononlinecom and sign (enter this /srperry1/petition.html in the address line).

Let Steve know how many people are eager to hear THE VOICE again!!!!

  • Steve Perry is so hot here, but Neal has always been my favorite. Check him out with that fu manchu stache and afro. What a sexy man :~)

  • Cool footage!

  • These are not all Journey fans, these are Rolling Stones fans. Journey open for the Stones back in '78 here in Chicago in this video.

  • No doubt. In 78 the Stones stage had the big lapping tongue design. You can see the red tongue in some of the shots.

  • I saw Journey a year later at "A Day In The Park" at Comiskey Park in Chicago that included Eddie Money, Molly Hatchet, Thin lizzy, Santana and Journey.

You know who I remember the most .. Thin lizzy.

  • What about santana? He had to be good!

  • I'm sure Santanna was excellent .I saw them several times after that show, they were great each and every time no matter who the members were.I was young at this Day in the park, really who ever had the most radio play, was the most familiar to me.The thing about T Lizzy was Brian Downy, his double bass pearl white kit,and a small warm up he did when they took the stage,I was a young drummer and pretty much consumed in all of the drummers that day, more than anything else.

  • Nope. Its the middle of "Winds of March". Right before Perry comes back in with "You are my child. You came like the winds of March......."

  • smwalker16, that's MR. Perry to you, ASS. Your singing suxs, too. I bet you think you could throw a football over a mountain, old man. BOOO! Get off the stage, Dave Wannabe.

  • To 80smusicforever, I think it's the end of La Do Da, live version. To shaider77, yep, that's Ross. God I love this band but even moreso I LOVE STEVE PERRY!!!

  • Is that Ross Valory with the moustache and glasses?

  • what are they playing at the end of this

  • I agree that Infinity/Evolution/Departure were some of the greatest sounds from Journey. This is very nice footage.

  • The women lov Steve Perry.

    Great singer.

  • 1978 was a good year.

  • CALLING ALL PERRY FANS!!!

you MUST go to votenumber1 dot com and vote for Mr. Perry! He's RIGHT behind Freddie Mercury for number one male rock singer... COME ON!!!!!!

    peace & love -- jade <3

  • This era -- Infinity, Evolution and Departure -- is when Journey was at their best. It's great to see some of the "lost" footage from this time in their career.

  • I was there that day I was 15 and stoned

  • omg look at the people!!well hello ur talking bout steve perry..the man..with..the........VOICE OF A GOD!!!!!
