I am not sure if it just the light or my crappy eyesight... but Gregg looked like he had terrible dark circles under his eyes. Poor baby must have been partying too much and sleeping too little. And I am sure he loved every minute of it, LOL, rock and roll lifestyle.
Oh man this is awesome! Steve in those white pants and black vest....delicious! His hair is so shiny and gorgeous! I wish I wasn't 10 years old or I would have been at that concert!
@metamorphosis67 I used to skateboard with Neal @ 10 He had a speach impediment, and still does! I personally never liked him, but I have to say he is a genius musically!
@MegaRubbersoul You played it wrong my brother! Ya missed a big opportunity there to get sloppy seconds from a major rock star with more groupies than he can possibly handle. Sloppy 2nds or even 3rds from a rock star's harem are usually supermodels compared to most people's wives & girlfriends. Especially a group like Journey that all the women were into because of the ballads & Steve Perry & all that crap. You could have roadied for him & had yourself quite a party!!
@metamorphosis67 That's disgusting! These people are no different physically than you or me! I want sloopy 2nd's from some drugged out wench? Your mistaken sir! If I did, I could go to a truck stop and get the same thing from a lot lizard!
I was at the concert and It was an experience, It was awesome....They opened for the Stones that day...I never realized just how many people were there until I saw this...
@marco64galrza It was July 8th 1978 and the Stones were on their, "Some Girls," tour. I can say i was much of a Journey fan because. like most of the people there they came to see the Stones play...When Journey came out they were well received and I thought they played really well. The crowd in front towards the end of their set got really rowdy and started throwing stuff on the stage while Journey was playing, I gained respect for Journey because of that. They kept playing and didn't miss a beat
@marco64galrza one last thing. When Perry is saying, "Either they like you for who you are they don't." in this video that is what he was talking about the people in front were obnoxious but Journey played right through it. It made me like Journey more because of it.
Check out the girl in the gold shirt at 2:06 token feverishly on that joint (or roach)....too funny! Late 70's rock was great....then freakin disco yuk!
@irisheyes68 Hey bitch, no drooling over my man! and please I heard your as dry as the desert down there! Well thats what perry said, and he knows best!!!Lol
Hey danmist, its ok, i see your from the uk. Hey irisheyes , stop drooling over this video so much, I know you cant help yourself, i dont blame you! lynda
Magnum, I've had to strap a bucket under my chin to catch the drool lol under my chin isnt the only place that needs a bucket lol mop and bucket any1?

"hi, my name is Irisheyes and I'm a Perryholic" xXx
Neals hair reminds me of Hairbear, from the Hairbear Bunch. Great to see the guys backstage . Wish i had been there. Thanks for posting. Hey whats this your saying about the English! Some of us are ok, i am. Lynda
This is stuman's wife- I'd like to wish steve a very happy birthday today. Happy 61st birthday, love!! And, may I add, you're still looking mighty fine ;)
It's shame Journey headlined over Lizzy. I mean yeah Steve Perry was great, but I would have rather seen Thin Lizzy. In 1978, Brian Robertson was "injured" and a couple of Chicago shows had Gary Moore on lead guitar. Can you imagine that?
I remember seeing them 1 week later at the mississippi river jam in davenport with another new band called van halen and they all backed up the doobie brothers.
@mistifers He smoked two joints when he played video games (Space Invaders,1978 pre-Asteroids) & at every ten thousand points (lyrics from the superior original Toyes version from Dr Demento's 30th anniversary cd).
We, the fans, dont want to see such a talent wasted!! Bring Steve back by signing the Steve Perry Sing Again petition. Go to petitiononlinecom and sign (enter this /srperry1/petition.html in the address line).
Let Steve know how many people are eager to hear THE VOICE again!!!!
I saw Journey a year later at "A Day In The Park" at Comiskey Park in Chicago that included Eddie Money, Molly Hatchet, Thin lizzy, Santana and Journey.
I'm sure Santanna was excellent .I saw them several times after that show, they were great each and every time no matter who the members were.I was young at this Day in the park, really who ever had the most radio play, was the most familiar to me.The thing about T Lizzy was Brian Downy, his double bass pearl white kit,and a small warm up he did when they took the stage,I was a young drummer and pretty much consumed in all of the drummers that day, more than anything else.
smwalker16, that's MR. Perry to you, ASS. Your singing suxs, too. I bet you think you could throw a football over a mountain, old man. BOOO! Get off the stage, Dave Wannabe.
To 80smusicforever, I think it's the end of La Do Da, live version. To shaider77, yep, that's Ross. God I love this band but even moreso I LOVE STEVE PERRY!!!
This era -- Infinity, Evolution and Departure -- is when Journey was at their best. It's great to see some of the "lost" footage from this time in their career.

Wonder why Schon had that fake sounding accent. Maybe he picked it up from Santana. Odd.

@KnqsX He was only 3 or 4 years out of Santana at this point so the Vato accent was still wtih him from hanging around with those guys.

No doubt. In 78 the Stones stage had the big lapping tongue design. You can see the red tongue in some of the shots.
