  • Thank you for bringing out the deceptive cadence at the end of the melody's return! That's the most amazing part for me.

  • Magnífico!!!!

  • very nice

  • Good...and

how many bucks costs your piano??

Some day ill buy one, andmy first songthat ill execute will be this XD...

    Greetings from Mexico

  • Great work awesome playing keep it up

  • You play this very difficult Nocturne beautifully! I'm learning this piece also, but I still have a long way to go to play it well. Thank you for sharing.

  • Brilliant, well done!

  • Hi from Russia! You really have great skills!

  • @tensly so true. another hi from Russia.

  • Grace notes, broken chords start ON the beat in Chopin. We know this for sure, especially in this piece. The hardest thing in this nocturne is a full legato in the arpeggiated section. The double-octaves section (unusual for Chopin) is not hard if one can do doubl octaves. Your agitato reprise should be MUCH more agitated - always pressing on in fits and starts.

  • Do it little by little and it'll pack a lot more punch. The doppio needs more rise and fall--like waves. Really... sad waves?

For me, this piece is just about deep, deep depression--which I didn't really catch from the way you played it.

Rubenstein is good, but I almost dislike his interpretation of this one. Look up someone named "Ivan Moravec". I love his version.

I'm not trying to pick you apart, I'm trying to help. Hope it did. Excellent job for even getting through it.

  • @throwscats I don't think this piece is about deep depression. The right hand is "singing" and in that I hear passion and pensiveness. Played too slow, this song is a bust. It has an energy to it. It's...maybe...searching.

  • I realize you had trouble playing this from a technical standpoint--and that makes sense. This is a difficult piece.

I will say that I didn't think you crescendoed enough into the quiet major chords--as in, the minor part needs to (little by little, then near the end I think with a lot of force) get loud. It's about devastation, right? That's what the piece is to me.

Speaking of getting louder--WAY to loud too fast during the octaves.

  • amazing, touching, and beautiful. Thanks for putting your talent out there ;)

  • You're really talented!!!!!!!

I love the way you play, very emotional!!! Thanks for uploading...

    Greets

  • GReat performances!!!

  • Great Chopin performances! you are talented

  • Spectacular! A joy to listen to.

  • You're definitely right when you say the toughest part about Chopin isn't the notes--making it actually sound musical and emotional is the real challenge, and in my opinion the most fun part, since that's where you can really interpret the piece and make it your own. Good job. :-)

Also, congrats on being included in Thru You. Awesome stuff, that is.

  • good job!

  • kutiman rocks!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes but Kutiman didn't play this piece :-)

  • You play the piece very well, but I think you can play it with more feeling and soul, you touched it very mechanically

    regards

  • Sensational.

    Bravo.

  • i am trying to learn this song and it is EXTREMELY difficult? how did you learn it, any pointers? how old are you by the way

  • I'm 19 now, I think I was 16 when I learned this.

Tips eh? Well for the build up part with the octaves, just practice the sections on their own, and make sure you aren't stiff.

During the hardest part after the octaves, just practice each hand separate slowly, without pedal, then practice them together slowly without pedal, then slowly speed up. Make sure that you don't increase your tempo until you can play it with all the melody notes clearly audible

  • also, because playing 3 over 4, like in the last section, is extremely difficult, I would recommend metronome practice just with rhythms. Once you learn the notes, the piece isn't that difficult - it fits the hands quite nicely.

  • 19 huh! that gives me hope that someone my age can play this! come teach me!!!

  • how old are you?

  • turning 19 in a couple months

  • a think this is the most diffucult nocturne, you plaly it well, i am learnig this now.....is difficult, good luck

  • you're super cute! and you play beautifully. love how Kutiman (Thru-You album) appropriated your video into his music! Luck yoU!!!

  • beautiful--well done!!!

  • great !!

    lovely performance!

    heard the mix on thru-you

  • i'm new???

    ^o^ kkkkkkkk~~ Good ! ! !

  • really well played!. one of my favourite nocturnes.

is your piano a bit out of tune?

  • yes unfortunately. I hadn't anticipated many views when I recorded it so I didn't bother to tune it. Stick around for a couple of new vids on a tuned piano in a couple weeks.

  • This sounds great. I love this, you play beautifully! I am glad that I clicked through from Kutimans mashup, this was def. worth the listen. :)

    same here :)

  • This sounds great. I love this, you play beautifully! I am glad that I clicked through from Kutimans mashup, this was def. worth the listen. :)

  • Beautiful. Got here through Kutiman, but stayed because of you.

  • yep! also the way its recorded , lo-fi ;-) , in the air with that little white noise that adds just more sadness to the piece.... Nice ! :)

  • you sound great man! i love this piece!

  • Nice work. I am learning this one. I love Idil Biret's performance of this which is so very deep. I prefer slower versions where the melody is clear and the left hand is perfectly controlled. I have heard too many performances where the left hands ruins everything, especially near the end.

    You did very well

  • got here through kutiman of course, but just wanted to say that your part makes the song, nearly tears me up, that's your playing, amazing!

  • wow, you're really talented. I actually liked that you didn't play it as gravely as it is sometimes played but add some lightness (in some parts).

    Nice work.

  • Oh my God, I really like the way you play. Soulful. Like all musicians should be.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • nice job, very straightforward, and the right hand so lyrical. well done

  • La intención y la forma de entender la obra me gustan. Pero hay que asegurar más ...

  • You're really good... That's the reason why Kutiman chose you

  • If I could play an instrument like THAT, I would be a much happier person. And I'm a happy guy! ;-)

  • never too late to learn

  • kutiman made u famous :D

  • it would appear that way lol

  • Found through Kutiman's remake.

Kid, you have no idea how many times I get this stuck in my head now. I wish i could play piano like this.

  • glad you like it :-)

  • Did you like what Kutiman did with it?

  • I just listened to it, and I really liked it. Not just my part, the whole thing

  • Hi =) I think you did very good :))) 5st

    Thomas

  • A good attempt. My favourite pianist for this piece so far on YouTube is Andreas König.

  • vos gueules les anglais vous connaissez rien aux belle choses.

  • bravo, but you need a bit better tempo in your playing.

  • Bravo Bravo Bravissimo!!!

    Congratulations!!

  • too light

  • In my opinion you play it too simply. This nocturne as any piece of Chopin is full of depth and emotion. Try to make an image from your soul!

  • Wow. Bravo :-) There really is something very special about your playing.

  • right on. the first time i heard this it was rubinstein's recording, and I decided it was my favorite nocturne, only to be disappointed by other recordings. yours here i really appreciate. it has the same kind of emotion I got with that first recording i heard.

    keep it up.

  • There is something Very Special about your playing...

  • Now this was very beautifully played. Your dynamics really bring out the singing melody in this piece.

  • Bravissimo!

  • Beautifully done!

I shall play this for my recitial next year.

  • Nice job! One of my favorite nocturnes, great to hear you're still playing Chopin!

  • You have worked so hard on this difficult piece, well done. I love the last section of this, just wish I could play it as well...
