  • I totally agree.

  • I've been doing the yoga off and on since 2003. Side affects include lower blood pressure, more strength and flexibility. Yes, you will get sick or have a bad experience if you don't eat correctly and drink adequate amounts of water -- you also need to do the correct expression of the pose according to your body's limits. It is a dangerous as any other exercise if you don't use common sense.

  • I'm not going to pretend to be a doctor here. I am a 20 year old woman, who practices Bikram and thoroughly enjoys it. I can understand the points made here, but as one said, it's a ventilation system not a heater. I can only speak from personal experience, but I have been practicing since the Summer. I am happy, lost weight, more flexible, the problem with my knee has diminished, and I am unharmed.

  • so if wasn't for Bikram, you wouldn't have a subject to talk about.

  • I've been practicing Bikram Yoga for just over 2 years and have never felt better! The changes in your body are amazing. The reason you feel ill is usually because you have toxins flushing out of your body or you're not hydrated enough.People let the first class put them off, don't let it! But be sensible with your body you know its limits. It's not for everybody, but atleast give it a go! And it is yoga, its a series of hatha yoga postures, whether its in a hot room or not

  • i don't think madonna is doing class with other people rather then her teacher...

  • I truly do not understand why so many NON-INDIANS want to learn YOGA, especially the INDIAN STYLE. I am sorry, but this is something special to us, so why not leave it alone. I wish they do their WESTERN THING THAT THEY DO, WELL WHATEVER THAT IT. I do apologize and do not hate anyone it's just that NON-INDIAN people have tormented me as a child--calling me HINDU STINKS, THREW STONES AT ME, AND TRIPPED ME. NON-INDIANS HAVE LEFT A SCAR IN MY HEART

  • sorry ull never get the rebirth

  • Point number four, just do the yoga

  • the first four days were very difficult. but the next week was awesome. i went to dance class and followed the steps and movements better than i have done in my entire life!

  • ive never smelled anyone in bikram class. everyone is quite pure because they have sweat out their impurities by doing bikram. plus the heating system is not a HEATER, it has ventilation which brings in fresh warm air. plus the body does not hurt during class - so i can actually excercise in a way i simply cannot in a colder environment. besides, isn't india pretty HOT to begin with???

  • HAHAHA! Jokes!!!

  • fools. he is right. raise temp beyond your normal temp? think of all the disgusting sweat and more importantly, the breeding ground of pathogens, a breeding ground for bacteria. disgusting idea, did it twice,no thanks. pigs.

  • @MsDev91 - Right On! This is what I was going to mention.

  • ur a dumb ass

  • American Yoga teachers are clowns. Circus clowns. They completely fucked yoga. They crucified hatha yoga in America. There is no yoga called kundalini, power, vinyasa, dog yoga.

  • HAHA, funny guy!!

  • Dear Sir,

Think you are adorable, but let us think for a moment. Someone who is too weak or out of shape to do all those pre workout heating up exercises needs a warm moist room. Since i have started doing this, my yoga has been so much better.

  • this guy has no clue of what he's talking about

  • just another guy using Bikrams name to draw attention to himself. in this case he is just drawing attention to himself and making himself look stupid, which doesnt really make sence... much like the nonsence he just said

  • this is stupid

  • I did this Birkram yoga and it really is horrible. My eyes darkened and I saw the world go round with the heat that room. I did not have a good adaptation with a warm and humid. Not recommend to anyone.

  • Bikram yoga is GOOOOD!

  • Dear sir, this is bullshit. I'm a physician and have repaired my knees, preventing a total knee replacement at age 40, brought myself to my ideal weight, and changed my life around through bikram. I've been to many studios and in each fresh HOT air is pumped in at all times. Anyone who ever has anything negative to say about it always seem to have never actually done it.

  • @nycljm

How did it help your knees?

I have osteo-arthritis of the knees.

  • This video make sense to me as well. I have seen Bikram Yoga lovers at other places too quoting example of Calcutta temperature. Dear friends people there don't do yoga when the temperature is hot rather they do it quiet early in the morning. Surprisingly these hot yogis also quotes healing effects of it. I've been to one hot yoga class and I am sorry to say that I didn't feel right. Again as this video says choice is yours but be cautious and do your own research.

  • Be still with the tapas Dear Yogi...... including perception of sweat, farts, burps, stale air and that ever loving HEAT. They are merely ripples in the stillness. Grab your mat, towel, water bottle, fluctuations of the mind...... and head into a class to burn it out baby. Bikram awaits. Namaste`

  • a yogi who doesn't realize that outside IS inside?

  • @iamsammybe lololol .. very good!

  • Have you ever tried Bikram Yoga? You seem terribly uninformed, my friend.

  • I think the most unhealthy aspect of Bikram's "yoga" is that it lacks adaptability and/or flexibility for the student given the nature of some of the postures. I have been to a # of classes where what I first thought was just really stupid instructors ultimately turned out to be Bikram yoga automatons dolling out instructions like "Lock your knees, bounce into the posture, or this posture is supposed to hurt," without any sort of regard for the individuality of the student and their condition.

  • his point about intaking fresh air could easily be refuted if the room was properly heated and ventilated

  • It is obvious you have not done many if any Bikram Yoga Classes and do not understand Bikram Hot Yoga. It is amazing the healing I have seen in my students and my own body. No one, not even you will convince me that Bikram Yoga is not good for you. It transformed my life one posture at a time.

  • @Atima14 I don't think it's good for everybody at all. It made me very ill and I know others who haven't enjoyed it either... what's more, it's an insult to call it yoga! It is NOT yoga, it is dangerously over stretching your limbs in an over heated room!

  • #1 - doing 15-20 sun salutations takes probably close to 1/2 hour...how will you do the rest of the postures...people don't want to now give up 2, or 2.5 hours to do their yoga class

#2 - yes there is fresh air, as most yoga rooms have sophisticated HVAC systems which have external air intake

#3 - you don't get "sick" from inhaling sweat (which is salt and water, not disease) or bad smells, unfortunately!

  • The heat in a Bikram class is normal summer high for Calcutta. And one does not risk asphixiation in a Bikram class, just ask the teachers who teach up to 4 classes in a day. They are some of the healthiest looking people I've seen. That being said, Bikram yoga is extremely intense. If it's not your style, take another class, but please be respectful of other people's practice. The points raised in this video are by no means original.

  • good video

  • nice video
