i thought tempest 2000 was best i've ever seen/played...incredible effects but still a video-game ( temp.-3000 )...today's games are to realistic and are all about blowing people's head's off...my 8-year old nephew is addicted to halo 4...i'm a little concerned, to say the least...
@TheEZPAXIIChannel The Atari now is not the same atari as back in the day, Infogrames bought the name couple years ago. The real Atari was already dead at the time
@HoneycombAgent um, it's kind of chilled. You have to navigate through all the accelerating hoops but it's very intertial controls and it's all slightly ... unusual.
this is garbage compared to the original game in the early 80's . the original had no music which was one of the greatest things about it ... instead of listening to the same loop of crappy music over and over again . it reminds me of a porn flick . the constant movement of the game is also horrible and just obnoxious as well . nuff said .
@whosyourbuddy100 Yeh you have a valid point there man. Music in computer games is totally crap nowa days because of so many reasons. But the main issue is the fact that the format is a direct plagerism of Radio sets. I've tried telling the Big companies "THIS IS A DIFFERENT FORMAT.. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A 5 MINUTE TRACK LOOPED over & over again". But do they listen? Do they Fuck. IF I was in charge of the Music for a Computer game, I Turn the whole Media on it's Head! But Silence is better. ;)
Remember me and my friends used to roll some spliffs and play this game for hours. After a few months, be got pretty damn good at it. At rolling spliffs that is, not at the game, we sucked at the game.
Wow, Tempest 3000 is really trippy. If I would play this, I would get sooo confused. Thanks for the record of this Gameplay (everything else were those Camera Recorder.)

What a shit load of watered down piss compared to the JAG soundtrack. Little beats.. trying to compete with the kiss ass Techno-Rave Tracks from T2000!
Maybe. I noticed you commented on one of the T2000 vids that the Jag was your favourite console because nothing since had the same arcade vibe. Get an xbox & have a look on xbox live arcade. You may find things aren't so bad these days.
Yeh I've tried but it just doesn't have the same feel. There's just something inhenrantly different about Atari that cannot be manufactured. Even by the Mighty Microsoft!
Plus, musci has taken over so much of my life recently & I have little time to play computer games. I'm currently Remastering the TK2 Soundtrack for a fan as we speak! It's taking so much work as mod files are very poor quality! Send me you E-mail address by message if you wana listen! "Television, is the retena of..."
@therealKINDLE Um... the song from the first few levels was directly from the Temepst 2000 soundtrack CD Atari produced. It was written by the same guys that made the original soundtrack of the game, to boot.
@atarian2049 Yeh Alistair Lindsey, Ian Howe, Julian Hodgson & Kevin Saville. Lindsey is now head of SONY EUROPE's Music Dept. The CD was made first, but there was No Room for the CD Quality Tracks on the Game so they had to Re-Compose them in Module Files but even then they only had room for 7 Tracks. But those Versions of the Tracks Pack much more punch due to the Lofi Compress used on the Drum Samples they used. Sorry! I know far too much about this nonsense!
@literalgameboy Are you JOKING? Seriously! Because if you're Not, you are critisizing an entire Era & Cult of Video Game History!! Pretty Parochial of you man!
And by the way, I agree that the "Quality" of the Mod Files were pretty Bad in Places, but that's Why I went back, & RE-MASTERED the Whole Lot from the Jaguar Soundtrack. Look up "Tempest 2009" or go to it under my Videos to see how in this case, the MODULE Tracks were 'Better' than the CD Version! Honest, they were SICK Drums man!
@therealKINDLE hurr, the first game track and the bonus track in this video ARE the t2000 tracks, and not those shitty jaguar mods, but the awesome redbook versions
"Then he began making loops and figures of eight with his body, and soft, oozy triangles that melted into squares and five-sided figures, and coiled mounds, never resting, never hurrying, and never stopping..." (R. Kipling "The Jungle Book", Kaa's Dance)
I played the original Tempest in the early 1980s, and already than it had a infamous reputation of beeing hypnotic to some people!
But this... Damn, are this bizarre graphics captivating! This must be programmed under the influence of LSD!
In the early 80s, this was the most addicting game at the arcade!! Thanks for this vid. Good to see it never died out completely, are there any other emulating platforms that have this game?
now this is my kind of game, what´s with me and games that are psychedelic and have an electronic soundtrack?

Don't forget Typhoon 2001, it's an amazing remake of Tempest 2000. That, and Tsunami 2010, a Tempest 3X remake. Requires a very good 3D card, though.
