There are videos on youtube that breakdown whats actually the bi-product of burnt diesel or "soot" and like most of you are saying, its almost completely composed of elements from the periodic table (from the earth to begin with).... This goes along with the question of why does diesel cost more at the pump when there is less labor in producing it? its a less refined product than unleaded gasoline yet they charge more for it....

@birdmanslopy If those oil prices goes skyhigh, one can also run em on modified Brassica napus oil(rapeseed in English?). Ive seen tractors do that in Europe, not sure what they did to the engine to make it work, but it worked. Exhaust sometimes smells funny though...:)
