The build up to fight night, the first round, the middle rounds.... they all have their moments where we aren't sure what may happen and anticipate that we don't know. Easily the greatest knockout ever. Everytime I watch it, I get goosebumps. Tessitore's scream. Goosebumps. I remember watching this live, my parents walked in the door as I was screaming right as the punch landed, was pretty awesome. Best knockout of all time. No question. Unbelievable.

As a martial art, boxing is a way to learn discipline. The very best boxers on the face of the Earth had to have some sort of discipline in order to be as great as they were.
Discipline is not all it takes anyway, Of course certain boxers have a level of discipline for the sport i.e they dont break the rules and they train hard to try "be the best", but they do not have real discipline like say a Shaolin Monk has. They are two different levels of discipline. Nwodo is a brave man, believe me that punch, on a common person would kill it, besides he was bad, but he was still fighting, throwing punches and trying to make it to the end of the round, any other boxer would finish the fight way before by throwing himself to the ground

It doesn't matter if Nwodo was still throwing punches. Ability to defend yourself is only one element to calling a stoppage. You also step in when a fighter is hurt too badly to continue, which Nwodo obviously was. I remember being angry watching this fight live because it was obvious what was going to happen. Diaconu-Hoye was a vicious fight also on FNF..Hoye was never "out" he just had multiple cuts, blood pouring from his face in 3 rounds...Diaconu will be the unified champ at 175 before he's done..count on it mates:)
How was this not the ring magazine's 2007 knockout of the year. They gave it to Donaire v Darchinyan. This was no doubt the most brutal KO i've ever seen.
The ref should get a left hook on the chops for his poor effort. Nwodo was turning his back!!! instant fight stoppage!! he just did not need that left hook to land for him to be beaten. They still fight when needed, They're warrior monks they do not just fight for image reasons or to gain financially out of fighting, they tour to show parts of their art and that's not even the real Shaolin monks, its the wushu teams and younger monks. Boxing does not give you real discipline that's why Mike Tyson although a formidable machine and a strong fighter he lost it like many. I don't respect boxing for the right reasons. Devotion into something which does not help u grow is pointless

Discipline is not all it takes anyway, Of course certain boxers have a level of discipline for the sport i.e they dont break the rules and they train hard to try "be the best", but they do not have real discipline like say a Shaolin Monk has. They are two different levels of discipline. Also discipline in an art which is not really an art but just an old fashioned way of slugging it out is a choice someone makes but its just dirty business in my eyes.

you are only looking at the sport of boxing.... people train in boxing and don't compete.. me for one, firstly, im not in college anymore so i don't fight... but there is no place for me to fight around my city, but to train as a boxer does... keeps me focused and in the greatest shape of my life... blocking out pain, thinking on your feet, having a healthy heart..... and im not corrupt or anything.... mike tyson is an anomaly... having all the gifts and none of the brains so don't use him lol

I love a good KO as much as the next guy, but that fight should have been stopped before the knockdown. If you are the referee, ring doctor, or trainer for Nwodo you just can't let a guy stagger and wobble for that long. Handled poorly, but still a great knockout.

Combat sports are brutal. Why people try and pretend they are anything else is beyond me.
Don't confuse brutal with violent though. Violence to me means someone involved didn't want to be involved. Last time I checked, both of these men are of sound mind and body and WANTED to engage in this prize fight.
Not everyone needs protecting from themselves. Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing, kickboxing, hockey, football.....let people do what they want to do.

If you watched the whole fight Wilson was losing the middle rounds badly enough for his corner to tell him they would stop it if he didn't do something. It's not like he was winning up until the KO.

That ref should be banned for life. Although the knockout deserves its praise of "Knockout of the Year 2007" I wonder if it would be the case if he was disabled for life or even died in the ring? It doesn't matter if Nwodo was still throwing punches. Ability to defend yourself is only one element to calling a stoppage. You also step in when a fighter is hurt too badly to continue, which Nwodo obviously was. I remember being angry watching this fight live because it was obvious what was going to happen. That ref should be seriously reprimanded.
